I’m not sure your statement is entirely accurate. But you are correct that ideology alone doesn’t immediately deem any individual a mass killer.

There is a problem with the article, "White Nationalism" is not synonymous with "White Supremacy". Nor are "White Nationalists" psychopathic killers.

White Nationalists are not a "terrorist group or organization" any more than Black Lives Matter.

What race exists, really? I think ethnicity and religion stick in his craw. He references "white" quite a bit, so likely anyone who doesn't look "white" to him and is living where he wants to live and displaying different cultural behaviors.

I get the anxiety, and lots of people of all colors can feel misgivings when "strangers" enter your country, because you wonder how your culture will change. Myself included. We write editorials and talk to politicians. We also embrace some of their foods, slang, and clothing. We try to get to know the other culture, and we try to figure out what lines we want to draw as far as changing our own to accommodate them.

That's if we are healthy people and don't want to live our lives hiding under the bed from strangers. But we don't kill anyone. As another poster said, killers just wanna kill.

I snipped your quoted post for focus. The NZ gunman is, by definition, a right-wing extremist. So, also be definition, his motives and actions make what he did a terrorist act.

Sorry but I have never heard of a country that has police departments hold citizens weapons until they want to use them.

That's correct except that Germans topped the list of superior people and everyone else was inferior because they were not German. There was a hiarchy. Jews, including white Jews, were on the very bottom with gays, handicapped, and Gypsies who could be of any race. The Christchurch killer seems to be a mixture of beliefs including enviroterrorism, hatred of capitalism, and if you added up everyone he hated in his manifesto, it would include pretty much 99% of humanity. He wanted guns removed from New Zealanders and a civil war over guns in the USA. Personally I think he is a sick mass murderer who wants to be powerful and famous. I will never type or speak his name. He doesn't deserve to be an individual.

Of course he killed because he felt like it. I’m just not comfortable speculating about whether or not his only true motivation is poops and giggles. I tend to believe his motivations are many and are more in line with his long self-purported, sick and deluded beliefs.

I think you are right...people praying in a mosque were an easy target and sure to spark debate and get him admiration from some groups. Also possibly spark a retaliation, which he would welcome. But I think the killing, the shock value, and the political repercussions were the point, not so much the backgrounds of the actual people. It is really sickening no matter what.
