I'm not really a specialist, but AFAIK those Apps like Viber and many others where you need to put in your phone number to receive a code to activate it, -and can not set up a secondary account on another device so you can't duplicate conversations- are not yet traceable and you need the actual phone to access the conversation. Skype and Facebook, e-mail, and IM are another matter altogether, because it's enough to log into your account from any device and you will see everything the person wrote before. Normal text messages are stored by the provider for different lengths of time.
There are spy Apps one can use to see into Viber and everything else what's happening on a phone, but you need to install them in some manner(physically or via internet) first on the phone you want to be spying on. If the phone is already destroyed and discarded it's not going to work.

Abigail Hernandez’s mother: ‘She did not run away’
http://www.today.com/video/today/55739699/#55739699
Includes a short clip of Abby hugging a friend.
Also, she did not have a child.

"She was very thin,'' her mother said. "She lost a lot of weight, very pale. She had a look in her eyes I've never ever seen before, and that's something that's haunting me and I think will haunt me the rest of my life."

"My gratitude is beyond words,'' Abigail said in a statement. "It's an incredible feeling to be home and I believe in my heart that your hopes and prayers played a major role in my release."

That was a good news story to watch. I noted the terms "they", not just the lone man depicted in the sketch, and the term "released" so it would appear she did not have freedom of action to leave. But all those things are for LE to figure out. It looks like she was out in public if that was really her getting hugged in the video. I know everyone has lots of questions but just viewing that short video sure was great. Thanks for posting the link!

Ok, this is really, really wierd. I just posted that I learned a couple sleuthing tips from that show Catfish today, right? Well, I just tried one of their techniques in another thread...I put in an image to crosscheck on the web (a sketch of the suspect in the April Millsap case) and guess what came back as one of the hits? The sketch of the suspect in Abby's case! The images and descriptions are nothing similar imo, but it was really odd. It must have just considered it similar because it is a sketch and it is recent?

Here's the link to the case I'm referencing:

MI - Armada teen, April Dawn Millsap, age 14, found murdered in wooded area
http://www.websleuths.com/forums/showthread.php?251244-MI-Armada-teen-April-Dawn-Millsap-age-14-found-murdered-in-wooded-area-14-7-14

I suspect it grabbed this as both of these sketches were released within the last few days and been plastered in MSM. More hits the more likely to pick it up on the crosscheck (my guess)

So very grateful for the short clip of Abby, you don't see much, or her face but that little clip and her friends delighted reaction and hug, yup tears here! Stay strong Abby!

Shows her hair was not cut or dyed too. In the video did I hear right, ZH uses the word 'abductor'?

Kickback= a word kids use when they don't want to say it is a party. As in " Hey Mom, can I have a little kickback here tonight. It's NOT a party, just a few friends, kicking back"...

I've never heard of a kickback (except the corporate bribe kind) and I was wondering how that played into the theft of her phone.

O/T: I once used the term "hit a lick" here on WS to explain a post on FB that a suspect had written. It means to obtain a quick, easy, illegal buck...especially if it's a repeat thing (stealing money from purses at the zoo, while they're parked outside the dolphin show, for example.)

I love the varied vernacular across the world.

someone give me a scenario where she had to be "released" from where she was, she did not run away, and she did not know the person who "drove her away", and that would not be considered an abduction or kidpnapping?

Thank you for the link to the interview skibaboo and Max!

I'm amazed at the strength ZH is showing. I can only imagine what she's been through in the last week. I applaud her for taking care of her daughter so well now that she's home and doing the interview to try to help quell some of the malicious rumors that must be horrifying for her 15 year old child.

It's also interesting to note that ZH states that they have been talking to LE DAILY. Even though this has been hard on AH, they have been doing all they can to help.

ALWAYS MOO

I do not think Abby or Zenya's primary or even secondary goal is to tell "a story with details that don't make any sense and strain credibility and just keep people interested."

I imagine given the backlask against Abby and Zenya in the press and apparently their own community for not holding a press conference to "come clean" about where Abby was has them wishing no one was watching or interested right now. JMO

So mom doesn't speak and everyone is irritated. Mom has now spoken. Why do I get the feeling folks will still be irritated and still feel a need for more.

Someone who she did know sent the guy she didn't know to pick her up. Maybe she was only going to meet with someone, and thought she would be back that same day. When she got there, it was not what she was expecting- maybe they restrained her, or maybe the location was somewhere she couldn't easily leave or didn't know where she was. So...she didn't intend to run away, but she did go willingly, but then she was held against her will...?

I don't know. It's the only thing I can think of that fits those parameters. But it doesn't make much sense.

but that would definitely legally be a kidnapping or abduction. (good reply tho ty)

certainly there will still be people that want to hear every detail, and there will be people that will continue to say all sorts of negative things about her and her family. there is no way to control that, welcome to the internet i guess eh? i certainly dont understand why CNN et al even have comments sections if they barely make an effort to moderate them, you will see all manner of terrible things said on there that stay at the top of comments sections for days.

but you will also have an amount of reasonable people still wanting to hear resolution on a few major points in the case, things that dont in any way infringe on AH's right to privacy. this interview didnt really make any progress in that regard, but i dont feel it is her mother's responsibility to do that anyway - that is LE's job.

"Driver" could also cover a situation where she met another young person and they had an adult driving them. Or where the person in the vehicle wasn't the person she expected. So something like, "Get in, I'll take you to your friend, she's waiting at the store," or whatever? I'm starting to wonder if she was drugged -- there's that odd combination of precise detail and vague context that I remember well from my misspent youth. He might have offered her a joint and by the time she realized something was wrong, she was too dazed to do anything about it? And no, I do not think accepting a joint makes her a bad person or anything less than a victim.

eta: Is this the guy who drove her away from home in the first place, or away from the place she was held? I'm confused.

I have a feeling we will never know the truth in this case.
If i was Abigail's mother, I would stay away from the media, but that is just me.
