At the request of the Ossipee, NH Police Department, the New Hampshire State Police has authorized an activation of the Missing Vulnerable Adult/Silver Alert System.

Law enforcement is asking for the public’s assistance in locating Carol Gemmiti who was last seen in Ossipee, NH.

Gemmiti was last seen wearing gray sweatpants and a sweater earlier today, September 27, 2024, at approximately 11 a.m. walking in the area of 48 Bay Point Road in Ossipee.

Family members advise she suffers from dementia.

Anyone who sees Gemmiti or has information about her whereabouts should notify the Ossipee Police Department at (603) 539-2284.


*UPDATE*

As of 4:30pm on 9/28/2024, New Hampshire State Police is providing aerial support while New Hampshire Fish & Game Department conducts ground searches with their K9s and assists the Ossipee, NH Police Department. Center Ossipee Fire Rescue as well as Effingham Fire Department are conducting searches of Ossipee Lake and the surrounding area.

Additionally, various search and rescue teams from New Hampshire and Vermont are on the ground.

Units are still out conducting searches in the Bay Point Road area in Ossipee as well as on Ossipee Lake.

We are incredibly grateful for all who have provided time and effort in our ongoing search for Carol Gemmiti.

OSSIPEE — The husband of the woman who was reported missing last Friday afternoon spoke to the Sun on Monday evening about his wife.

Carol Gemmiti, 66, was last seen Sept. 27 at 11 a.m. walking in the area of 48 Bay Point Road on Ossipee Lake. She was wearing gray sweat pants and a sweater. She is the aunt of former Conway Daily Sun staff photographer Jamie Gemmiti.

They were in Ossipee for a vacation.

A $2,000 reward from the friends and family of a Florida woman who went missing in Ossipee last month will be given to anyone who can help find her. Meanwhile, police are seeking fresh leads. Carol Gemmiti, 66, was last seen Sept. 27 at 11 a.m. walking in the area of 48 Bay Point Road on Ossipee Lake. She was wearing gray sweatpants and a sweater.

In phone interviews with the Sun last Friday and again on Monday, Don said the Gemmiti Family Fund has $2,000 in it. Tips on Carol’s whereabouts should be sent to the police, not the family, he said.
 

Donald Gemmiti, 77, is hopeful that a cash reward for information about her whereabouts will result in new tips.

On Sunday, Fish and Game Conservation Officer Alex Lopashanski said he was organizing a second canine search that would take place on Monday.
 

Circumstances of DisappearanceCarol Gemmitti went for a walk in Ossipee, NH on 09/27/2024 at around 11:15 am. Gemmitti left behind her cell phone and personal effects and was wearing gray sweatpants and a knit sweater. She was last seen walking in the area of 39 and 41 Bay Point Rd in Ossippee, NH.
