The expert has given examples of someone being immobilized at a critical moment... when an outside might've thought the response was black and white. He's also talking about why people lie, or why their stories are inconsistent or contradictory... and how they can change over time. He is using a police officer having critical incident amnesia...

Even kat admitted she was surprised at the State offering the three years. Both she and her attorney thought she would be facing much more time. That is the part that sticks in my caw.

But they could only sentence her on obstructing prosecutors or whatever it was, and I think the max sentence was 7 years (?).

So the doc is saying that there are some people who think walking a straight line is the same as balancing on that same straight line 500 feet up in the air?

Doctor have you spoken to the defendant? Or are you explaining kat's multiple stories? seth is on trial here isn't he? Or is this called rehabilitating a witness?

Just saying that something simple can be terrifying to some based on other circumstances.

I think she did Seths bidding by using the rope around LMs neck when she was still breathing and tying bags around her head.

I sometimes wonder about that statement that she just held the rope while Seth went to bathroom. I think that she took part in the strangling too.

I agree she looked shock at the quick ending...then no re re direct. I wonder is she is aware that the judge ruled no re-direct? If not aware, I can see that making her concerned as if the prosecutors didn't help her "fix" things in the end. I hope she worries about her immunity deal tonight

I hope her immunity IS in peril -- but if she thinks she's smarter than the atty, she may not worry too much -- if she thinks she won that battle royal. If she realizes that she lost the match, she may worry about it. Dunno.

remember she held it "gently" :tantrum:

This doc is doing a good job of explaining why its more likely that Kats post-immunity version is the truth

No, I think she was open to more because it wasn't just kat that was surprised it was her attorney. That was according to kat. I thought she was up on obstruction and witness tampering/intimidation?

He also did a great job of explaining some important things about memory and why testimony changes, even when someone is telling the truth. I think he was a really good choice.

Youre right, I couldnt remember the exact charges. I thought the 7 years on each count was according to the sentencing guidelines, but maybe suspending most of the sentence was a surprise. They may have offered this because they didnt consider Kat a continuing danger without Seth. Not sure.

ETA: And obviously the state is relying on Kats cooperation and her testimony to convict Seth. They need to give her a strong incentive.

She got 3 sentences of 7 years...I am trying to find the link I posted days ago about what would happen if she was impeached (had all the detail).

Wow, Im kind of surprised that some of you do not see Seth as an abuser

Wow, I'm kind of surprised that some of you see Kat as a victim!

And to be clear, I'm not defending seth's role in this. But if I were on the jury, I would disregard all of Kat's testimony and demand the state prove their case.

Relying on an admitted liar who received a sweet deal isn't doing it for me.

And kudos for public defender Barth, who took the time to wade through all of Kat's lies. He is doing his job with the information he has. I don't understand the
the animosity directed at him.

This isn't a 42 minute law and order episode that wraps up in a neat package.
Nor is it for entertainment. It should be about justice, and a year and a half for Kat's word on what happened just doesn't sit well with me. my opinion, of course.

I keep hoping, hoping, hoping that the defense pulls a witness out who blows kat's deal sky high and show she is the flip side of seth. If the jury believes seth is guilty but not 100% maybe he will still go away for life but then kat will be hauled back in.

Are they trying to say Kat was abused?

I think (hope) he's trying to paint a broader picture -- yes, that he gained control over Kat, but beyond that, that's how he operated with everybody. Even Lizzi that night. Certainly there's no comparison with his relationship with Kat and his very brief one with Lizzi, we can at least get a picture of how he operates on vulnerable people. I don't think this is a ploy to bolster Kat, due to their relationship, but one that will show why she lied and stuck around, etc. Not a paint her better, but a paint him as diabolical and cruel and controlling. How she helped him do what he wanted, didn't run to LE, etc.

I hope it will get more evident. I do like the guy so far.
