An interpreter for Dulce's grandmother said that a "massive search" of civilians will be conducted on Sunday. They will go door-to-door with fliers and check areas "that have not yet been searched."

The search, which will cover parts of Bridgeton and other nearby cities, begins on Sunday, 10/27 at 9 a.m. at the park.

The Bridgeton Police Chief said that law enforcement will have no involvement in Sunday's efforts.

The family plans to pass out fliers of the sketch that authorities recently released of a man who is believe to be a "possible witness." They hope someone will recognize the man, who was allegedly at the Bridgeton City Park around the time Dulce went missing.

New search planned for missing 5-year-old

I wonder why the police are having nothing to do with this search. At the very least they could show a united front with the family and the community, maybe give a little more information about the case? I too feel like maybe they just don't care that much about this case. About Dulce. On the other hand, maybe them not being there is a good thing. More people may be willing to talk if the police are not present. My fingers are crossed for that.

“We would like to invite everyone to come together again this weekend for a massive search,” family friend Jackie Rodriguez said during the press conference. “On that day, we will be combing several areas that have not yet to be searched. We would never give up on you Dulce Maria, and we are asking you, the public, to not give up on her.”

Family Of 5-Year-Old Dulce Maria Alavez Announce Plans For New Search This Weekend
It's great that the family is organizing another search.
There were 2000 volunteers that showed up for the search of Jayme Closs.
Even if they have half that amount of will be worth it.
I wish LE would give some sort of update. The FBI has likely already interviewed the father in Mexico and I'm assuming they didn't uncover any important information.

I'm not surprised the mother did not want to appear in the last media appearance. The critisicm and abuse she has received is unfathomable. I can't imagine having to deal with that while she is suffering. She deserves credit for being so strong and brave.

In Cupcake's case, LE decided from the beginning it was unwise for the mother to be interviewed further by the media. It's too bad LE did not consider the same for Dulce's mom.
She is so young to have to endure the abuse she has had to put up with. I will never understand why people are so cruel.

Perhaps they have strong reason to believe the child is elsewhere.

amateur opinion and speculation

Grandma and spokesperson for the family just did a Facebook live pc on Fox 29..Trying to add the video here but not working o_O Should be up on the FOX 29 page shortly. Spokesperson for the family said the family hasn't had any updates from LE in aprox 3-4 weeks. Mom didn't speak due to harassment she has been receiving. They are having another search in the park on Sunday 27th.
3-4 weeks? Dulce went missing on Monday September 16th. That was 5 weeks ago.
I thought the sketch just came out....did they not update the parents/mom about the sketch?

Thanks for the video. I wish their translator actually translated and didn’t paraphrase. It’s important.

I can only imagine that it is ridiculously difficult to speak to reporters and to know that your words will be scrutinized by everyone but I was disappointed that she didn’t drive home a message to anyone with information. Is there protocol regarding making a plea to the abductor? Typically advised not to by LE? Or is that a decision left up to family?

I think that we both agreed before that it was possible that Dulce is no longer in the country but just in case we didn't and that was elsewhere that I was agreeing with someone, I agree. But just because they think she may be elsewhere, does that mean they should just give up? I know that the US has the ability to go to another country if it concerns a US citizen. I wonder if they suspected that Dulce's dad has her maybe there isn't anything they can do? I know even here a situation like that would have to be worked out in the court system unless there is a court order for one parent not to have the child so most of the time the police won't get involved. But if that were the case, why wouldn't they say that?

This is all thoughts and speculation and I am not saying that Dulce's father has her. But I have wondered if that could be the case. I remember a comment from Noema about how Dulce's father didn't even believe that Dulce was his until recently when he saw a picture and could see the resemblance and then decided he wanted to get custody of Dulce. Seeing how he has family that live in Bridgeton it would not be that far fetched for one of his family members to take Dulce and then quickly take her to Mexico. Still, even if the police believe this to be true, then they could at least let everyone know.

I know that seems odd...the spokesperson mentioned that she talked to Dulce’s grandma last night and said they have not spoken to LE and not had any updates. When asked if they family is pleased with the investigation the spokesperson said No. Not meaning LE is not doing their job...but they are upset they have no more answers than when Dulce first went missing.

Yes, they said something at one point about believing she was taken far away or was no longer in the area but never gave a reason for why or what led them to that conclusion.
I would think and hope they were sure and hope that did not lead to the community giving up and not looking for her.

Instead of reporters interviewing Dulce"s mom and asking her questions like if she would have done things differently, why not question LE or the prosecutor who said they believe she is no longer in the area what evidence they have to support that? I would think that would be a little more productive.

Maybe they mean updates as far as any progress or any evidence that was found. They specifically mentioned that LE has not told them about any leads or evidence and that's why they are disappointed. They don't seem to know anything.
However, it's not uncommon that LE does not share information about the investigation with the family.

That's true. Look at what poor Randy Leach's parents have gone through trying to get info from police about his disappearance.

Well, the FBI stated they were going to Mexico to interview him about a week into the investigation. We haven't heard how that went, but I would think we would have heard something by now.
Also, the father mentioned to Dulce's mother that he wanted to go to court for custody when she was a baby, about three or four years ago, and then never did anything about it. I did not get the idea that she thought it was possible. He apparently has no relationship with the child and has not been involved in her life.

BBM I totally agree! I think the criticism she's received in the media and on here, is horrible. MOO She shouldn't do anymore interviews or make public statements because no matter what she says, she will be criticized. MOO

Now this is something else new to my ears. I was under the assumption that they just called and spoke to the dad. It makes a world of difference if they actually met him face to face.

When they said they had spoken to him by phone they said the FBI was planning on going to Mexico to interview him. It was around the beginning of the second week, I think.

“I miss her, like a lot. I want her to come back,” said Camila Alavez Perez, who is Dulce’s 8-year-old aunt.

Camila was in the park with Dulce on Sept. 16 when she went missing. Dulce’s grandmother, Norma, spoke through a translator at the press conference.

Jackie Rodriguez said during the press conference. "We will be combing several areas that have not yet to be searched. We would never give up on you Dulce Maria, and we are asking you, the public, to not give up on her. Days go by with no answers, with no leads, with nothing. It’s just breaking them day by day.”

Cumberland County Prosecutor Jennifer Webb-McRae said Wednesday they’re still working Dulce’s case but said there were no updates. Webb-McRae also said the park and nearby areas were searched extensively."

I don't think LE has any answers for them. Furthermore LE has said they haven't ruled anyone out. Which presumably includes the family. So LE isn't going to discuss the case with them.

Cupcake...found in a dumpster. Nevaeh...found in a landfill. I have been here from the beginning but do not recall if LE searched dumpsters or isolated trash being taken to landfills the week of Dulce's disappearance. Anyone know?
Never heard anything about that. It's a lot of work, and I think in Cupcake's case they had a pretty good idea right away of who the suspect is (they arrested him quickly as a person of interest) so they also had a pretty good idea that the body could be in a dumpster from that area. In Dulce's case, LE don't see to have any idea what happened.
