I realize this is late (and I can't edit my posts), but I apologize for repeatedly mentioning FL in regards to EBT and benefits. For some reason I thought the case was in FL The information is unchanged (I don't know how EBT works in other states), but it might have been really confusing.

Kinda suspected this, based on the father's statement that the mother ordered her to "go find my f-ing card." That's the father claiming what the mother said, to be clear. Missing NJ teen's 'father figure' says he helped her search for lost debit card before mom told her to look again

“Then Jamie sent her back out there,” Muze told PIX11 News. “She was upset. She told (the missing girl), ‘go find my f—ing card.’ She took the phone [from the missing girl] and I told her ‘You shouldn’t do that.'”

I live in NYC everyone was aware of this missing girl. The story was on the nightly news every night- which is great.

Super sad of this outcome and to hear the mother was arrested. Hope the Go Fund Me goes to the kid's care now.

Noting:

Investigators say that the teen spent some of her time missing in different parts of New Jersey, a shelter in Brooklyn and then went to meet a friend or acquaintance in the upper part of Manhattan, which is where she was spotted

Mom of missing New Jersey teen Jamie Moore charged with endangering welfare of child - ABC7 New York (abc7ny.com)
The teen had not been in school since it started in September and while there were no cases investigated by the state, there were concerns about her living arrangements.

I always felt uneasy about the mother but didn't say anything because she was a victim. At first I thought it was strange that whenever she was on camera she had taken care with her make-up and even took time to put on her false eyelashes -- that was shallow and judgmental of me, and I would probably be critical of someone else thinking the same thing.

What really made me think that she might have something to hide was when she was so outraged that the FBI had taken her phone, and she felt that she was being discriminated against. Of course we know that it is routine for LE to confiscate the electronic devices of the parents of missing children, and most parents are willing to do anything that will help further the investigation.

I hope that JM will get all of the help and support she needs.

No Cases investigated by the state? Not in school since September? This is disgraceful that no one did anything for this little girl. Do Better New Jersey!!

What a brave, tough young woman! JM seems to have taken it upon herself to get out of a bad situation. I hope that she has other relatives / loved ones who can care for her - 14 is just too young to be on one’s own.

Both 14-year-old JM and her 3-year-old brother are now officially removed from Jamie Moore's custody.

Mother Arrested of Found East Orange Teen Who Was Missing For a Month

This story is so sad. I can’t help but think about what JM may have had to do to survive until she made it to a shelter. I pray she is ok, and can get help and live a safe and healthy life going forward.

I have been reading about this case all along and felt like something was off with her mother, particularly when she was so upset over her phone being taken. If my daughter goes missing, take my phone. Take my computer, my money, take anything you want, just help me find her. It was said she was upset because it had info about the DV case on it, but the police should have had that info already.

I hope things improve for JM going forward.

I wonder what happened to that phone?

Police allege the mother of a 14-year-old New Jersey girl, whose disappearance drew national attention, brutally abused her for years and forced her to skip school and beg for money on the streets.

The complaint against Jamie Moore details a litany of shocking violence the girl was allegedly forced to endure, leading up to her running away from home and spending a month on the lam.

"Jamie Moore did endanger the welfare of the victim … specifically by stabbing the victim to her shoulder causing a laceration that is still visible, spraying bleach in her eyes, pulling her braids out, striking her in the head with a frying pan, striking her with blue hangers [and] striking her with a broom handle," according to a criminal complaint obtained by Fox News.

I am just happy that she is safe and out of that abusive mom's hands. She is a beautiful, strong young lady who deserves to be loved and cared for. Thank GOD she managed to do what she needed to do to be safe. Miracles still happen!!
