If he was planning on jumping into the river/falls, why wouldn't the "to do" list say "suicide" instead of "off the grid"? It sounds more like he wanted to just start a new life. I wonder what was so bad in his current life...

Idk, seems like a red herring to me. If you were going to go off the grid, why not just do it and not write it down? If he committed suicide, maybe he wouldn’t want his mom to know and felt “off the grid” would be easier for his family to accept.

I would find the need to put either going off the grid or suicide on a to do list odd...maybe Off The Grid is abppace. There’s a boot camp by this name in NYC.

I’m not a verified insider, I’m just someone who knew him for many years during elementary, middle, and high school. Marlboro is a small enough town. Apparently his parents have had holidays at their home with no mention of Joey. Everyone I know thinks the situation is really weird, the way the family doesn't make pleas for his safe return or anything. I think they may have come to terms with the thought of him committing suicide. Jmo

I posted his info to a group I admin...A family friend commented he’s alive and well in WNY-just didn’t want contact with family at this time. I in turn asked he call the Detective-being he’s an adult-they’d drop the MP status and let him continue living his life as he pleases.

WOW this is huge.
I thought of him just yesterday and his note "off the grid" in his planner.
I would love to think that he's still alive.. just.. wow!

I have my doubts about the validity of the Facebook comment. The person may have been told that by the family, but I think it might be what they choose to believe/tell people as opposed to an actual fact that they confirmed. Jmo
