I hate headlines like this. The media needs to stop victim blaming. Whenever a sex worker is killed, that's all some media focuses on. They never headline it with 'mother of three killed' or 'young woman killed by gang member' it's always 'hooker and addict is killed'. As if that's the only thing that identifies her. As if it was her fault she was killed. She's still a person. She's someone's mother, daughter, maybe someone's sister, friend. I think some media are realising the harm they're doing and this is less common than it used to be but headlines like that do so much damage. She is not worth less because of her addiction struggles and how she supported herself.
I absolutely hear you and agree…but the headline came from the New York Post. Not exactly known for insight.
