Wednesday, August 7th:
*Change of Plea Hearing (@ 9am AZT) - NM - Amelia (5 mos.) deceased 4/21/23. *Christina Renae Bennett (31/now 32) "mom" brought deceased baby to grandparents, knocked on door & asked for lighter holding a deceased Amelia in her arms. *Charged (4/15/23/#1128) & arraigned (5/12/23) with aggravated fleeing a law enforcement officer (no injury or great bodily harm), abuse of a child (does not result in death or great bodily harm) & charged (4/21/23/#1103) & arraigned (5/12/23) with 2 counts battery upon peace officer (F4) was dismissed (5/8/24). Also charged (4/20/23/#1859) & arraigned (8/9/23) with reckless abuse of a child (results in death), abuse of a child (does not result in death or great bodily harm & possession of drug paraphernalia. Plead not guilty to all charges. Out on bond. Albuquerque County
Trial was set to begin on 7/1/24 but plead no contest/guilty on 8/7/24.

4/26/24: Notice & Order of substitution of counsel for State; EOA Savannah Brandenburg-Koch. Next evidentiary hearing [case #1859] on 7/1/24 @ 1:30pm & pretrial conference/ docket call on 8/13/24 @ 3pm.
5/8/24 Update: [#1103] Prosecutor dismissed the 2 counts of battery upon a Peace Officer. Pretrial conference hearing on 5/10/24 @ 8:30am.
6/11/24 Update: [Case #1128] pretrial conference hearing held. No info yet as of 6/12/24.
6/11/24 Update: [Case #1859] Evidentiary hearing on 7/1/24 was canceled. Next pretrial conference hearing on 8/13/24 @ 3pm. 7/11/24 Docket Update: Certification of Plea Agreement. 7/23/24 Docket update: Change of plea hearing set for 8/7/24 @ 9am before Judge Whittaker in person. Case #D-202-CR-2023-01128; D-202-CR-2023-01859.
8/7/24 Update: No contest/guilty plea proceeding. No contest plea to Count 1 (lesser included), Count 2 in case #1859 & Count 2 in Case #1128; admits to priors; PSR Ordered. Repeat offender plea/disposition agreement on both cases. No sentencing date set yet. She could get 4 to 12 years sentence per article (post #22].

The Albuquerque mother charged with child abuse resulting in the death of her baby in 2023 will be sentenced after a plea deal was reached.

Christina Bennett, 32, faces up to 18 years, according to Bernalillo County District Attorney Sam Bregman. She pleaded no contest to child abuse, abandonment of a child, and aggravated fleeing from law enforcement.
