Oh so now we can go kill people and say it was an accident and get away with it, yeah thats the way to go. I dislike people sometimes.

Watching that video just makes it all worse. That guy defends her even though there is proof she was warned about this before. Im just worried about her getting away with this and how many other people who will do the same thing and lawyers getting them off because of this one case.

Just a shout out, sherri :blowkiss: to say you're right, based on what we know, I do not understand why this woman has not been charged. It's very strange. This women seemed to be a habitual leaver of her child in the car and I agree with other posters that she may well have been moving the car around to keep the child in the shade during the five (!!) times she went out and moved the car that day.

I am going to try to investigate a bit more tonight after I get the kids in bed.
i used you as a example because if there is a way to give someone the benefit of doubt you do it. i'm glad that you do not seem to have taken any offence at being used as a example. i hope you know how much respect i have for you. i just thought that if you (someone who actually believes in innocent until proven guilty) think that this case should warrant further investigation then a DA should see it. if i say fry someone and the DA dont agree it is not a shock. i tend to be far on the scale toward punishment. you are more level headed and you agree so what can this DA be thinking??? and :blowkiss: right back at ya hun.

My Mom lives in the Cincinnati area and is appalled by this woman.

Keep in mind....This is an assistant principal... Responsible for children!

Who are this woman's "supporter's" that are supposedly calling the D.A.s office on her behalf, because the community is up in arms that endangerment charges weren't filed against her?

It apparently makes no difference to these parents whether it is winter or summer or how long they are planning to be performing an errand outside of the vehicle....It is too inconvenient to take the child with them.

They had been confronted repeatedly. It did not matter. They did not care.

It is a wonder that their older child has lived this long!

:furious:

I do pray for her safety and that her little sister is now watching over her and is at peace.

Fact is she left in the car, and the child died, she should be prosecuted!!

Connections. Plain and simple. Connections mean no charges. Assistant principal with political connections through work and her attorney. This DA needs to be reported, quickly.

This is such a scary precedent. This isn't the basic case of "forgetting" or an accidental lapse in judgment or memory. This woman, IMO, chose to get a box of doughnuts out of her vehicle instead of her child! Did she reach past the child to get the doughnuts, or were they sitting next to the child? Good grief. This is a hard one to even type about without wanting to scream. And there's a HISTORY of leaving children in vehicles?

What is going on here? It didn't have to be INTENTIONAL! There are a range of negligent or involuntary crimes charged against people every day in this country.

Social circumstance and politics are spinning hard here, IMO. I shudder to think the outcome would be different if this lady wasn't who she was.

Our local news comment boards are going crazy with this story and with good reason. People here (including me) are OUTRAGED about the failure of the prosecutor to do his job!

Regarding your question about where the donuts were in relation to where the child was in the car-the donuts were in the back of the suv, so she went around back to lift the hatch-type back door up. Cecilia was in the back seat on the driver's side. If you watch the surveillance video (hopefully this link will work for you- http://news.enquirer.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20070904/VIDEO/309050020 ) she walks RIGHT PAST the door with a window and still didn't see her daughter????

Also, she backed her car up to the door-which most people do using the rearview mirror-she STILL didn't see her daughter??? I find that hard to believe.

She also had left the same child in the car the day before when it was 100 degrees for 10 minutes to watch her other daughter act out a story in the school. She was warned after that not to do it again. I can't help but wonder if someone had called the police on her one of the 2 previous days in that week if Cecelia would still be alive?

I am hoping with the public backlash, maybe there is still a chance that justice can be done for Cecelia Slaby.

"I've got to be the most incompetent person on Earth."

There's an understatement from the mother in her "interview" with the police. Her emotions, or attempt at them, seem very calculated. Looks like she stared up at the camera toward the end before she made that "admission" of incompetency. I just don't understand how this can go unpunished. It makes no sense to me, no matter what anyone says. She doesn't seem that devastated after her child has literally burned up in the vehicle all day long. NBC reported last night that the child had blisters on her body. This is sickening. And to hear that the day before she left this child alone in a car to the point of someone noticing... my word. This DA should not be able to sleep at night, I hope.

I remember hearing just what a child goes through while literally burning up in a car. It's not pretty. The child probably struggled mightily to get out of the car seat, not even knowing how to at that age. The last hours for that child were horrible! She did not go peacefully. She was all by herself and nobody helped her or even thought of her that day. :(

That mother is incompetent and shouldn't be in charge of her children or any others as far as her educational career is concerned. IMO.

AMEN.

I'd love for Nancy Grace to hear about this one.

Me too. That's awful. So she never noticed her baby just sitting there in the car? How do you not know? I have 5 kids and not once have I forgotten they were in the car. I don't understand how you just forget? My routine's been changed before as I'm sure many of yours has, again, how do you forget? You mean to tell me when she opened her car door, she never once saw the child sitting there?

Someone should send it to Nancy Grace. If "connections" is the reason this woman is not being charged, Nancy will flush that out. There is too much evidence to give reasonable doubt that this was not a case of bonafide forgetfulness.

There is no way in hell she just forgot. Obviously this has been going on and she dont seem to care.

There is no way with woman just forgot that child, she had a habit of leaving her alone in the car several times in all types of weather. I just cannot believe this DA believes she shouldn't be held accountable for this, he should lose his job! I am usually a very compassionate person but in this case it is blaringly obvious that she was grossly negligent on many occasions.

Just some Ohio laws that might fit if the D.A. wanted to check them out...

2903.05 Negligent homicide.

(A) No person shall negligently cause the death of another...

2903.041 Reckless homicide.

(A) No person shall recklessly cause the death of another...

2903.15 Permitting child abuse.

(A) No parent, guardian, custodian, or person having custody of a child under eighteen years of age or of a mentally or physically handicapped child under twenty-one years of age shall cause serious physical harm to the child, or the death of the child, as a proximate result of permitting the child to be abused, to be tortured, to be administered corporal punishment or other physical disciplinary measure, or to be physically restrained in a cruel manner or for a prolonged period.

All really good points ALL4Tara. Its been bothering me how they keep saying it was an accident and they couldnt do anything. Yeah well I have seen plenty of people cause someones death accidentally and still serve time.

To actually forget a two year and leave her in car one thought that came to mind was maybe she was on some drugs??
Was she tested?

Every time one of these cases comes up I think about how opposite I am of these people. When the children were younger, and it got too quiet in the car (maybe they were sleeping) I used to think I accidentally left them/car seat in the driveway while I was loading up the van! So I'd turn my head real quick and look and of course, there they were. :slap: I still do that and it drives me crazy. I don't understand the "too busy" argument because I felt too busy when I had 3 under 4 yrs and was very sleepy. I do understand the changing of schedules and parents switching off different days etc. That can get confusing even though it still shouldn't happen.

I'm not perfect at all, but when it comes to your kids...they just have to be on your mind 110% of the time when they are that young and helpless.

We were in and out of our hot van today and I couldn't stop thinking of the little children that basically slow cook to death. :(

A few months back a woman in Flordia was charged for leaving her child to go back in side to get an umbrella. I dont understand how this woman was not charged with somthing.
