The local newspaper states that it has been searched in an area close to the mountain with dogs, but they did not find anything.. His friends dont think he has walked very far because he have had a operation in his knee recently.

I think it is difficult to disappear on the train. If you have a sleeper the conductor would react if it is empty and if you choose to sit up all night you sit in a room with a lot of others. Most of the stations along the route is small stations with not many people going off...

Hi Lorrie, it was said AK signed out of his hotel around 14.00 hrs. The train does not leave untill 21.00 hrs. If he hadn't gone hiking, what would he have been doing in Bodø ? Could he have left his luggage at the railway station and headed to a pub? or to the museum of contemporary art? another place with wifi? or to an island for a short trip?

Yes, it is possible to store the luggage at the railway station in boxes, but the station is not manned and you have to pay tickets on the machine if you havent done it on the internet. It is a lot of cafes, restaurants, pubs and a shopping center close to the hotel he stayed at. A lot of people to go for a walk along the harbour or in town. One of the worlds strongest tidal currents is a short busride from town.

The local museum closed 3 o clock so he wouldnt have much time to go there . The art gallery is closed until wedensday, but the aviation museum is open until 18.00. The library have got several architecture prizes and they provide wifi for free, most of the cafes, pubs and restaurants too.. It is possible to go to an island for a short trip, but it would be difficult to reach back in time before the night train leaves.

1. According to the media, Arjen had checked out from his hotel at 14.00 hrs. However, checking out should be done latest at 12.00 (website hotel).
(So perhaps he remained two hours at the hotel after having checked out at 12.00 hrs., or perhaps the hotel made an exception?)

2. The train Bodo - Trondheim has a main stop at Fauske. Could Arjen have planned to get the nighttrain from Fauske instead of Bodo and could he have taken a random train to Fauske to look around (perhaps hike) and then maybe something went wrong at Fauske?

On Monday a dog patrol from the Bodø police went looking for the disappeared Arjen Kamphuis. This follows concrete tips on sightings of the Dutchman. This was confirmed by police attorney Trond Lakselvhaug at Nordland police district to AN Wednesday.

- "It's correct that we have been on a search. We received a tip about a possible sighting, and we took this seriously, "says Lakselvhaug. The police went out with a dog patrol in the area around Linken in Bodø. "We quickly found out that there was nothing in this track, but we still had to take the tip seriously," according to Lakselvhaug.

Norwegian police finds tent in search for Arjen Kamphuis

Also this Thursday, the disappearance of the Dutchman Arjen Kamphuis is still big news in Norway. The police found a tent in the area where Arjen might possibly be.

Reporter Joya de Boer is in the Norwegian city of Bodø and tells that the newspapers are full of anxious reports. On Thursday morning the Norwegian police informed Hart van Nederland that they had found an orange tent with equipment in it and that tent would have been there for about three weeks. Walkers who have been in the area are called upon to report.

Dutchman Louis Kramer lives in Bodø and knows the area well. He has little faith in a good outcome. "I think he had an accident on his way to a summit," he says. "Because of the rain it is slippery and he may have fallen down."

If Arjen got lost or had a fall, making contact with the outside world is very difficult. "You have no coverage here for your mobile phone," Kramer explains. Moreover, it is an incredibly large area.

In the video it is said that Arjen Kamphuis habitually switches his phone off, so it is impossible to locate him. Norwegians would always take a well charged phone with them as a precaution.

Meanwhile, I can't find any mention that Arjen Kamphuis would be in possession of an orange tent, or any tent for that matter.

Dutch Police: update report on missing Arjen Kamphuis

On 29 August 2018 his employer reported him missing. Investigations have shown that on 30 August 2018 Arjen's phone was still switched on for 20 minutes in Norway. After this, the SIM cards were removed and a German SIM card was inserted in his device. From this number, colleagues in Norway will request a history. At the time of the switch on, this was near Vikesa Norway.

On 3 September 2018, a witness saw him in Denmark. Therefore, an investigation is now underway in Denmark via Agency Sirene. Yesterday 5 September 2018 we were told that Arjen also bought a foldable kayak in the Netherlands for his holiday. According to the seller he wanted to go kayaking at the fjords of Norway. This was released yesterday to the colleagues in Norway. Arjen is wearing glasses, has Blond /Rusty hair up to the shoulders, there are curls in his hair. Normal posture, possibly dark hiking clothes.

Vikesa is in the south of Norway, 1700 kms from Bodø. This was on August 30.

After ten days of disappearance, telephone of missing Arjen Kamphuis suddenly briefly connectd

The phone of the missing Arjen Kamphuis suddenly connected ten days after his disappearance. The Dutch police reported this. On 30 August the 47-year-old Kamphuis' phone switched on for twenty minutes near Vikessa in southern Norway. That is ten days after he was last seen in northern Bodø.

The police report that the SIM cards were removed and a German SIM card was inserted in the Kamphuis device. The Norwegian police are going to request a history of that number.

Arjen’s phone switched on for 20min in the South of Norway, 10days after he went missing. This gives us hope that he is alive and (relatively) okay

If Arjen and his phone are / were still together at that time, would he have been reading messages during those 20 minutes?

The Dutch police said there is a witness who saw Kamphuis on September 3, 2018 in Denmark. He would have been spotted in Ribe in Jutland. This is being investigated further via the Sirene bureau and the Danish police.

It was also announced yesterday that Kamphuis in the Netherlands also bought a folding kayak for his holiday. According to the seller, he wanted to go kayaking at the fjords of Norway.

If Arjen and his phone were still together at Vikessa, and if there is no foul play, then that would mean he would be playing some sort of hide-and-seek.
I can't imagine he would do that. Would he jeopardise his reputation and would he risk having to pay the bill?

Ancilla writes they have hope he is relatively okay. IMHO this points to the possibility of confusion, cause unknown. Perhaps the guy just needs the break from it all.

Would AK have reason to make himself scarce and to protect those close to him by not revealing his location/situation to them at this time?
speculation, imo.

Ancilla van de Leest, a friend of Kamphuis who also spoke to this newspaper earlier about his disappearance, reacts 'tentatively happy' to the new details in the investigation into the disappearance of the Dutch cybercrime expert.

"A text message was received by his phone. This is almost impossible without his PIN. That means that at least ten days after his disappearance he probably was still alive. That's the only thing you can say now, not even with certainty."
