There are in fact two rooms. Note the wording "King bed in separate bedroom".

According to the article I linked from the NY Times. It was a suite. It was one room. Specifically a Vista Room with sweeping views. Not two separate rooms. The article gave the suite number and a suite can have more than one bedroom . It was 1700 square feet. He did not have two separate hotel rooms which is what people originally speculated.

British troops on holiday in Las Vegas after training in US rushed to help wounded in Mandalay Bay massacre

Off duty British troops on holiday in Las Vegas rushed to help the wounded after today's massacre, it has been revealed.

The soldiers - from the 1st Queen's Dragoon Guards - administered emergency first aid to the injured after a lone-wolf gunman unleashed thousands of rounds of ammunition onto a music festival killing at least 58 people and injuring hundreds.

The troopers' instincts immediately kicked in when they heard the gunfire - with the horrific injuries suffered by survivors similar to those seen on a battlefield.

A source told the Mirror: 'Due to their experience, the guys who heard the noise knew instantly it was gunfire.

'Their training immediately kicked in and they rushed to the festival to help.

I think he definitely had knowledge of guns. He owned 47 of them. That indicates an obsession. Explosives were found at his home. He had scopes, tripods, and managed to understand what to use, and how to position himself to injure 527 and kill 59 people at a distance. I don't see him as a victim of his "Malaysian" girlfriend. There is zero evidence of that. I see him as the one and only perpetrator of this horrific massacre that we have knowledge of at this time. We know he spent his entire life gambling, professionally, and obsessively. He lived in hotels. His affluent homes had no furniture. He apparently lived to gamble. Eventual financial problems would be the obvious outcome and way more realistic and logical than his being a victim of a scam. imo.

Agree. Guns are an expensive hobby too. I can't even begin to guess what kind of money he'd spent on his collection.

There were two bedrooms but still one room (hotel lingo). If I was to call to rent a "room" at a hotel and was given the option of a suite or a standard, I'm still only renting one room. Like when you rent an apartment you rent one apartment whether it's a one bedroom two bedroom or three bedroom. It's still one apartment.

A suite, by hotel definition, is more than one room, but is only one room number. The Vista had one bedroom (see #97 above) and a separate dining area.

Sources say Paddock was a guest at the hotel and used the employee ID card of a woman who sources referred to as his wife. That woman, Marilou Danley, lived with Paddock and sources say her ID was used by him to go in and out of restricted doors at the Mandalay Bay hotel. Danley is an employee of the hotel.

-Was Danleys employment at the Mandalay mentioned anywhere else? If he was angry with her I can see that he might want to make it happen where she would be most exploited. If she was employed there the cards he used to enter and exit were likely employee assigned to her.

That's the first I've seen of her being employed at THAT hotel.
I've only seen reference to her being employed at others and previously gambling at Mandalay Bay.

Cops recovered 23 guns, some with scopes and military-grade ammo, two with tripods, at least one full auto.

He lived in a $400,000 retirement home with girlfriend Marilou Danley, 62, who is currently in Tokyo, Japan.

His father was a 'psychopathic' serial bank robber who spent eight years on the FBI Most Wanted list.

He'd also secretly amassed a massive arsenal of 42 firearms. At least one of those was automatic, while another two had been modified with a legal bump-stock devices that allows semi-automatic guns to give full-auto fire of up to 800 rounds a minute. Several had scopes, and packed military-grade ammunition. Thousands of rounds of ammunition were found in his hotel.

He had used 10 suitcases to methodically move an arsenal up into his hotel room over the preceding weekend.

He took 23 of those guns into his Mandalay Bay suite over several days and set up two rifles on tripods at windows overlooking the Route 91 Harvest country music festival.

This very comprehensive article includes an excellent array of pics including images of several of the type of weapons used. You’ll appreciate why he smashed two windows in order to gain a much wider field of view in order to commit this carnage. There’s also a photo of his girlfriend and others of some of the victims. It’s just heartbreaking.

I'd like to know if he ever had contact with his father. He was about 16 when he was recaptured. It seems he died in 1998. Plenty of years there. Also were any of the firearms from dad?

He own some apartment buildings:
He also owned rental properties across the country. In Los Angeles, Paddock co-owned two run-down apartment buildings in a working-class neighborhood of Hawthorne. For nearly a decade, he owned an apartment complex in the Dallas suburb of Mesquite. Tenant Richard Gehring said Paddock improved the Texas property by checking applicants’ credit and quickly evicting those who didn’t pay.

I have also seen in msm where he co-owned some apt blogs in Fla with his mother ( from one of the interviews with the brother) and he owned one in NV but I can’t put my finger on those links at the moment. Clark County, NV only show the babbling Brooke address in mesquite but I wouldn’t begin to know what Corp name he would have used. Give me time though LOL

this is whole thing is just making me ill. I am so tired of the horrible things we humans are doing to one another. How devalued life has become. Many years ago a company I knew started a reward/reprimand system that I try to remember often. If you did something wrong you got a “ aw *advertiser censored*” sticker and when you did something good you got an “atta boy” sticker. The interesting part was you could trade 10 atta boys to erase 1 aw *advertiser censored*. Wouldn’t it be great if more ppl would try to earn atta boys?

If this has been discussed already forgive me for jumping in late. Stephen Paddock

How do we, as in the public, friends, family, spot the signs when someone like a Stephen Paddock
type person is about to go off the deep end?

For the life of me, there has to have been one sign. Something that hinted Paddock wasn't right in the head.

The fact that his father was on the FBI's most wanted list I'm sure played a part in his mental health.

Please don't think for a moment I am trying to excuse him or use the Twinkie defense. Not at all.

We must learn from these spree killers so we can catch the next person before he unloads his bullets on the innocent.

We can argue guns or no guns all day long but until we can find a way to spot people like Paddock we will always have killings in one way or another.

Remember Timothy McVeigh didn't fire one bullet in Oklahoma.

Whaaaaat!?!?! She worked there and he had her employee access card?? I'm going to wait for more info about that. Most employees of a casino cannot play there or their significant others cannot play there at all.

MSNBC

he did go through background checks to get his guns where he lived

his retirement community is affluent

I pictured a independent living setting

no affluent

Not hard to understand why this happened.

Start with the worst mental health system in the world. Which results in people with serious untreated mental illnesses walking the streets. Add in the subject that the moderators don't want us to talk about. Add this guy's wealth which allowed him to buy a large number of weapons of mass destruction, and this is the result.

CARIIS, I think his wealth situation is a little odd, too. Check! On CNN and other news media, they still report that he only worked for Lockheed Martin for a few years Check!, many years ago. I don't see how that's enough to allow him to have enough income to invest in real estate Check! and become a multi-millionaire. (You are onto the contradictions!!! Or the myth he wanted to project to impress others.) He obviously didn't come from a wealthy family. Maybe more will come out with time.

I'm also dubious about him having much good net income from gambling, especially playing video poker and slots. The house always wins in those kind of games. (Check!) You can win big and lose big. (Check!) It seems odd, but maybe not.

ETA: Washington Post says he also worked as an accountant. Wonder which job he retired from?

BettyP, great observations! (my comments in red above) You have addressed a lot of the glaring "inconsistencies" between what we have been told by his brother and what appears to be amazingly obvious to others. Big game hunter, really? Pilot who owned, not one, but two airplanes....really? Multimillionaire real estate investor, really? Making a fortune on "video poker" lol,....really? (A real poker player plays with other players.....that is where the real money is made.) He is beginning to sound like an evil Walter Mitty.
I wonder if he had ever been 86'd from any of the casinos in the area? Ironically he chose to shoot from one of the most profitable casinos in Vegas, into a crowd at a venue sponsored by another of one of the most profitable casinos in Vegas.
His brother is in total denial...."he never even pulled a gun" then, "he had guns in his safe", then "well maybe he had one or two guns", then "and maybe a long rifle/gun" and then we find out he took his brother's children to a shooting range. Nah, I'm not relying on ANYTHING the brother says..... and denial is not a crime. (it is ok to disagree on any point!)

Police say the gunman had an arsenal of 42 firearms. His motive, though, remains elusive

"Police searched the gunman's home in Mesquite, Nevada, where they found at least 19 firearms, explosives, several thousand rounds of ammunition and some electronic devices.
In Paddock's 32nd-floor hotel room at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino, police recovered 23 weapons, including a handgun, and multiple rifles -- some had scopes on them. Authorities also found several pounds of ammonium nitrate, a material used to make explosives, in his car."

(Sorry for any reposts.)

"Housekeepers said they "saw no signs of anything" suspicious, Nevada Rep. Dina Titus told CNN.
Paddock had a number of weapons, as well as hammers, in the room, Titus said, but the arsenal "was pretty well hidden."
Authorities believe Paddock brought the weapons into the hotel by himself but did not provide specifics."

He was a high-stakes gambler recognized in the casinos of Nevada. He dabbled in real estate investments in Texas. His last known full-time employment was 30 years ago. He was twice divorced. He had a pilot’s license and had owned two single-engine planes. (You can purchase a used single engine plane for less than 20K)

Mr. Paddock, 64, was described as a high-flying gambler who lived in a quiet retirement community and played golf. Officials said he had no significant criminal history and drew little attention to himself.
https://www.nytimes.com/2017/10/02/us/las-vegas-shooting.html
Okay, got all the links! I wonder what "no significant criminal history" means. Does it mean he has some "criminal complaints" such as misdemeanors, but would not disqualify him from passing a background check on a gun purchase??

Y'all are doing a fabulous job of providing info. I think reporters are reading and trying to get as much out to the public as possible. The observations made by Jean Casarez really highlight the contradictions in previously released statements of shooter's family. I'm am overwhelmed as the photos of so many beautiful young victims are being shown on TV.....so tragic. G'night brilliant sleuthers.

Aldean shared a new message on his Instagram page Monday night, calling for unity.

"Over the last 24 hrs I have gone through lots of emotions. Scared, Anger, Heartache, Compassion and many others. I truely dont understand why a person would want to take the life of another. Something has changed in this country and in this world lately that is scary to see. This world is becoming the kind of place iam afraid to raise my children in.

At the end of the day we arent Democrats or Republicans, Whites or Blacks, Men or Women. We are all humans and we are all Americans and its time to start acting like it and stand together as ONE! That is the only way we will ever get this Country to be better than it has ever been, but we have a long way to go and we have to start now. My heart aches for the Victims and their families of this Senseless act. I am so sorry for the hurt and pain everyone is feeling right now and there are no words i can say to to take that pain away. Just know u all are in my heart and my prayers as we all go through this together. Time to come together and stop the hate! #stopthehate #prayforlasvegas"
