I do not mean to be argumentative but I will just say that I very seriously doubt the name "Matthlas". I think it was a typo. Geogen (http://christoph.stoepel.net/geogen/en/Default.aspx) offers free surname mapping of Austria and Germany, they show the popularity of the name at home and throughout the the world, there is not a single "Matthlas" listed. Nor is there anyone with that last name in the United States per (http://www.gens-us.net/). Nor does it show up anywhere in the world according to (http://www.publicprofiler.org/worldnames/).
ETA: Assuming that perhaps it is a second name or middle name I would expect it to show up elsewhere. So I simply entered the name "Matthlas" in the white pages of;
US (http://www.whitepages.com/) There were three listings, and one for a business related to the Dirk Matthlas cleared by police. Also, it is curious that DM and the others listed do not show up on peoplefinder.com when the name "Matthlas" is used, but are present when searching the same name with "Matthias".
Germany (http://www.dastelefonbuch.de/) 0 entries
Austria (http://www.dastelefonbuch.de/) - Automatically searches for "Matthias".
Switzerland (http://tel.local.ch/de/) 0 entries
I do not mean to be contrary. I just want to let you know where I am coming from. I would be glad to help with anything German language related as would my father I am sure. He was a translator for several decades so I think he would be the better choice.
