Incline Deputies Find Car Of Missing New Jersey Man

The Washoe County Sheriff's Office (WCSO) says they are assisting the Montville Township Police Department in a missing person case out of New Jersey.

Rich Cambria has been missing since November 13. WCSO says his car was found on Highway 431 near the Tahoe Meadows trails and it had been sitting there for a few days. When they ran a registered owner report on the car, they made contact with Cambria's family, where they confirmed he was reported missing.

Cambria's family said he was last seen checking out of the Nugget Hotel in Reno on November 13. They said he sometimes wears gold-rimmed glasses.

A deputy found 59-year-old Richard Cambria's SUV, a 2014 metallic silver BMW X5 with New Jersey plates, along the Mt. Rose Highway in the Sheep's Flat area November 25, 2018. There was no sign of Cambria, last reported seen checking out of the Nugget Resort in Sparks November 13 after a road trip that had brought him to Northern Nevada from Santa Barbara, California.

According to a Facebook page dedicated to finding Cambria, his charged cell phone was found in the car with his luggage and other belongings, though there was no car key.

The case is being investigated by the Montville Township Police Department in New Jersey, but anyone in the Reno area with information about where Cambria might be is asked to contact the Washoe County Sheriff's Office at 775-785-9276.

In the Facebook post, his family said Cambria’s vehicle was blocking snow plows in the area and was towed from the site on Nov. 25, a week after it was discovered.

“We were notified that day that the car was towed and learned Richard was missing,” his family said on the Facebook post. “His charged cell phone was found in the car turned off along with his luggage and most of his belongings. The car key was missing.”

Cambria was on a long road trip when he was reported missing. He arrived in Sparks from Santa Barbara, Calif., the day before his disappearance. In August, he visited Incline Village and stayed at the Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe Resort.

Ocean County man disappears near Lake Tahoe

An Ocean County man last seen checking out of a hotel and casino in Nevada a month ago remains missing.

A BMW X5 belonging to Richard Cambria, 59, of the Manahawkin section of Stafford, was found parked at the Tahoe Meadows trail head, south of Reno near the California border, on Nov. 25.

The vehicle contained all his luggage and his fully charged cell phone.

Richard Cambria was last seen on Nov. 13 when his checkout from the Nugget Casino Resort in Reno was captured on security video. He had been on a long road trip and had been staying in Santa Barbara, California, for most of October. He drove to Sparks, Nevada, on Nov. 12 where he stayed at the Hyatt hotel.

Circumstances of Disappearance
Richard left the State of NJ in July 2018 and proceeded west towards Nevada. The last contact with his family was via text on July 16, 2018. On November 25, 2018, Richard's family received a telephone call from Washoe County Sheriff's Office stating that Richard's vehicle was found abandoned/parked on top of a mountain overpass. The location in which it was found is normally frequented by hikers, but was closed at the time due to inclement winter weather. A cellphone ping confirmed Richard's whereabouts to be in the same location as the vehicle with a date/time of November 13, 2018 at 1852 hours. During their subsequent Missing Person Investigation, Washoe County Sheriff's Department located video surveillance from the Nugget Casino in Sparks, Nevada from November 13, 2018 where Richard checked out of the hotel earlier in the day. It is believed that Richard is in the area of Mount Rose Summit in Nevada.

They found a skull north of Lake Marlette. It is quite a hike from Sheep Flat but it is downhill on the trail from where the car was located. Hopefully, they have dental records that will identify the person that they found quickly.
