I am not so sure there ever was a driving lesson late at night.

I wonder where the story came from. I don't know. Who goes looking for trouble like that with their kids?

People sure make dumb decisions. It is so sad that she made a mistake with the wrong person and it cost her her life and her kids their mom and some really messed up memories of that night.

"She was getting a driving lesson, so she thought this person was speeding and needed to be corrected," Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department Lt. Ray Steiber, head of the homicide division, told reporters Tuesday.

Meyers was "scared but she's upset," and when they got home Meyers and her 22-year-old son went out looking for the driver, and at one point were following a car before breaking off and heading home, Steiber said.

When they got home, the suspect's car pulled up and opened fire, and Meyers' son returned fire, Steiber said. After the shooting was over, Meyers' son discovered that his mother, who was behind him, had been shot, Steiber said."

Now there's no mention of an accident, (look at car in photo -I see no damage) she honked at them while they were Behind her, then somehow they all got out of their cars and yelled at each other????

"According to police, Meyers had been teaching her daughter to drive. As the two were driving home, a car sped up behind them. The teen, who was a passenger, reached over and honked the horn. The driver of the silver sedan pulled in front of the Meyers' car and got out of the car to confront Tammy. Police said, there was an exchange of words that frightened Meyers which prompted them to drive to their home.

Meyers asked her daughter to go into the house and get her 22-year-old son to come outside. Meyers' son brought a gun, police said. "

I guess if you go looking for trouble, you will find it. Her son was armed when they went looking for this guy. So now they guy, if police ever finds him, can claim self-defense.

Something really does not make sense here. What I get from the various stories: Mother gives daughter a driving lesson a middle school. Mother is driving home. Daughter reaches over and honks at another car. Other car stops in front of mom and daughter and yells at them. Mother and daughter drive home.

At this point, everything seems okay.

Questions:

If you didn't know the people in the other vehicle, why would you expect that you'd be able to find them? They could be miles away; their car could be parked in their garage.

Why would you want to find them?

If you were afraid of these guys, why wouldn't you just barricade yourself in your house, and alert the police to the situation? And if you were afraid of these guys, why would you leave your daughter at home alone?

Well this has turned into one of the more bizarre episodes I have seen on here in some time. She has a run in, notices them speeding or whatever- gets home free and clear then gets her armed son and goes LOOKING for the other driver?

The world is dangerous enough as it is- you don't go looking for trouble. I almost hope this is not true. If it is the other driver may be waiting until more favorable information comes out before turning himself in.

LAS VEGAS (KSNV MyNews3) -- Details in the road-rage-related death of a Las Vegas woman who was shot outside her house took a dramatic turn Tuesday.

The investigation centers on what Tammy Meyers and her children did in the minutes before bullets flew.

In a news conference, Metro Homicide Lt. Ray Steiber said Tammy Meyers and her 22-year-old son had gone looking for the other car involved.

Meyers had been giving her 15-year-old daughter driving lessons Thursday night at Johnson Middle School.

After they left the school parking lot, Meyers was showing her daughter how to merge and change lanes when another driver apparently became upset. He pulled around their car and slowed down.

As Meyers passed the other car, her daughter honked the horn, Steiber said.

Meyers drove her daughter to their house on Mount Shasta Circle and told her to wake up her brother so they could find the other car. He came out of the house with a gun registered to him.

Meyers and her son left the cul-de-sac and found the other car. The driver followed them to their home. Steiber said gun shots were fired in front of the Meyers’ house. When the shooting ended, Meyers’ son saw his mom lying on the ground, a gunshot in her head.

Only after the shots were fired was Metro alerted to the altercation. Meyers was taken to a hospital where she died Saturday.

The suspect fled the area in a silver sedan. Witnesses said three people were inside. The driver was identified as a white man, 6 feet tall, and 180 pounds.

Wow. That story is much different. It makes a lot more sense than the 1st 15 or 20 versions, IMO.

Her son's birthday was that day, IIRC. Did he have a big party?

"They're welcoming the entire community to attend, but they're asking that people bring their own candles".

I have never heard b.y.o.c. before this vigil

BYOC indeed. This case just kept right on devolving, and it may still have a ways to go.

If this story changes any more, it's going to turn out that there wasn't another car of people involved.

I certainly would not show up at the vigil. Only heaven knows what might happen there. Retaliation by gang members?

"The pair drove around looking for a gray or silver sedan. Meyers and her son found the vehicle, police said, and followed it for a while before Meyers decided to go home.

Once home, a silver or gray sedan drove into their cul-de-sac, police said, and someone began shooting at them. Meyers' son returned fire, and the car sped off. Meyers was hit."

BBM

First of all, this in itself is dangerous and I am not seeing any reason for driving lessons at this hour of the night. Everything changes when driving at night, especially perspective, and one should first have their license before attempting night driving in traffic.

Secondly, I am not sure what to believe of the sequence of events that night or just who the guys in the silver/grey car are in relation to the victim and her family. Perhaps they aren't strangers. Why would anyone go looking for them if this is the version that is true? Was there really an accident, and even if so and they fled the scene, get the license plate #, call the police and report it to the insurance company.

:(

MOO

What doesn't make sense to me is how they found the car again. After going home and going back out - how the heck did they track down the car? There are so many streets around there that lead into major streets and shopping areas. Very odd
