Have they recessed for the day?

They appear to be done for the day. No word on the closed door meeting after court.

Former President Trump told reporters he plans to return to court on Wednesday as he left the courtroom following a closed proceeding Tuesday afternoon.

Judge Arthur Engoron held multiple closed proceedings during the afternoon after issuing a warning to Trump not post anything to social media about his staff.

Neither Trump nor New York Attorney General Letitia James answered questions about the nature of the closed sessions when they left the courthouse at the end of the day.

The first-ever gag order imposed on former President Donald Trump landed on Tuesday in the New York courtroom where his business empire may hang in the balance, and the experts largely agree on its significance: “It breaks the dam.”

Trump’s tempted fate several times before this moment, attacking prosecutors, judges, jurors, and more on his social media platform Truth Social. On Tuesday, he finally crossed a line, by going after the judge’s law clerk.

“Personal attacks on members of my court staff are unacceptable, inappropriate, and I won't tolerate it [in my courtroom],” thundered New York State Supreme Court Justice Arthur Engoron, a typically jovial and even-tempered jurist looking visibly angry.

Engoron explicitly issued a “gag order” of extremely narrow scope, forbidding him from posting about any members of his staff.

That watershed moment could have repercussions for other Trump cases, most imminently his election-interference case in Washington, D.C., where Special Counsel Jack Smith seeks to more broadly keep the former president from attacking witnesses.

Wednesday, Oct. 4th:
*Bench Trial continues (Day 3) (@ 10am ET) – NY - New York vs. Donald J. Trump, Donald Trump, Jr. & Eric Trump & the Trump Organization, Inc. (Allen Weisselberg & Jeffrey McConney) is being sued by Letitia James, the New York Attorney General, who is leading a civil investigation (which cannot result in criminal charges filed on 9/21/22) & has spent years looking at whether the company committed various acts of fraud over several decades. In the civil case, Ms. James has filed a lawsuit against Trump & three of his children accusing them of "astounding" fraud & deception.
New York is seeking $250 million in financial penalties & asked the court to ban Trump, Donald Trump Jr. & Eric Trump from serving as an officer or director in any corporation registered or licensed in New York. James also requested the court ban the former president & his business from acquiring real estate in New York or from applying for loans from any New York financial institution for five years. James's civil case accuses Trump of lying from 2011 to 2021 about asset values at the Trump Organization, as well as his own net worth, in order to obtain better terms from lenders & insurers.
Lawsuit against: Donald John Trump, Donald Trump, Jr, Eric Trump, Allen Weisselberg, Jeffrey McConney, The Donald J. Trump Revocable Trust, The Trump Organization, Inc., Trump Organization LLC, DJT Holdings LLC, DJT Holinds Managing Memer, Trump Endeavor 12 LLC, 401 North Wabash Venture LLC, Trump Old Post of Fice LLC, 40 Wall Street LLC & Seven Springs LLC.
All charges against Ivanka Trump were dismissed.
Summary Judgement. NY State Court Judge Engoron has granted partial summary judgment to the Ny attorney general, finding that Trump is liable on top fraud count of NYAG business fraud lawsuit. Judge Engoron wrote that the documents uncovered in the case “clearly contain fraudulent valuations that defendants used in business,” and none of Trump’s defenses hold up, including his claim that he could always find a “buyer from Saudi Arabia” for one property or that measuring square footage is a “subjective process.” The judge pointed to several Trump properties that were overvalued, including Mar-A-Lago, a building on Park Avenue, an estate in Westchester County & his penthouse in Trump Tower—which had an inflated square footage even after Forbes asked him about the exaggeration, Engoron notes. As a result, Judge Engoron canceled several of Trump’s business certificates & ordered the dissolution of Trump-related LLCs. The second orders that "within 10 days of the date of this order, the parties are directed to recommend the names of no more than three potential independent receivers to manage the dissolution of the canceled LLCs." Judge Engoron also sanctioned several of Trump’s attorneys $7,500 for making arguments the court had repeatedly tossed out.
Bench Trial began on 10/2/23. (could last until 12/22/23 per Judge).
The lawsuit’s remaining 6 counts allege similar acts of fraud (that Trump inflated his assets on statements of financial condition that he submitted to banks & insurers for personal gain.
Judge Arthur F. Engoron presiding / NY State Attorney General Leticia James / Defense attorney Christopher Kise & Alina Habba for Trump, Weisselberg & the rest of the defendants for Trump Org. / Clifford Robert of Robert & Robert PLLC for Donald, Jr. & Eric.

Blabbering Donald Trump Essentially Admits to Fraud in New York Trial

Trump insisted Tuesday that his organization’s financial documents were not the least bit fraudulent—but even if they were, he couldn’t be held responsible because it was up to the lenders and insurers to fact-check that.

“Many, many warnings. Page one, page two, and many pages, it says, ‘Please, you must understand that you have to do your own due diligence.… Do not rely on anything, do not rely on the financial statements,’” he told reporters at midday.

He says his disclaimer covers him for providing false information on financial statements (which is an absurd defense - everyone is a victim if businesses are not held to truthful reporting), but also this morning in the courtroom lobby he states his financial statements are "perfect."

Which is it? False financials you shouldn't believe? Or perfect?

His whining starts at about 38:40mark at the link, but it's not essential viewing, imo, as there is nothing new and by the end he is literally campaigning.

This is new. Trump is starting to grumble in court, groaning in front of the judge while making winces and exasperated shrugs.

Trump left the courtroom after the judge called a short break. He did not say when he was coming back, but he did once again call the trial a "witch hunt," adding that he should be "entitled to a jury."

The proceedings have now resumed and Bender is now back on the bench, continuing his testimony without Trump. James is still present at the trial.

So if, supposing, ball-park,the judge will rule as punishment $200.000,0000 restitution.. I have this strong feeling he will tearfully email-beg all his rubes to help him pay it... and they likely will. I am dead serious.

Yes, I do think his supporters would continue sending him money. But, he is also losing his ability to do business in NY so I guess that means setting up shop elsewhere and losing out on NY business. And, he definitely has lost face and is seen as a business laughingstock, imo, on a wider scale than previously. This case hurts, even if his supporters continue to support him.
