This case is so awful, so haunting, and I have to say, I hate the title of the thread...it sounds less awful than it really was...she burned this poor kitten alive! It just makes me so upset to think of....I have three kitties, and a dog, and I love kids too....I just hate to read about such awful cases....
 
What a sociopath! She should be banned from ever owning animals again or having any children in her presence.
Maybe someone should stick her in an oven and see how she likes it. And stay to laugh at her while she desperately screams as she burns. What a ******* *****

Well said!! This is beyond sad and beyond sick. She is a serial killer waiting to happen. In a few years she'll go on a rampage and than they will look back at this as a "sign" that was "missed". If she does this to kittens what will she do to a baby?? The law needs to catch up with time. She should have to do a lot more than just a year. The law needs to send a message and this one sure hasnt!!

If the current laws are such that she can't be incarcerated longer, maybe a judge could order long-term psychiatric hospitalization. Something is definitely wrong with her mind and I agree, humans will be next. MOO
 
An update to this upsetting case - it seems that the extensive protests by animal lovers may have had some effect.

A judge overthrew a plea deal offered to suspected feline arsonist Cheyenne Cherry yesterday, potentially extending the prison sentence for the 17-year-old who is accused of killing a kitten by baking it in a 500-degree oven....

While Cherry already pleaded guilty to burglary and animal cruelty charges in exchange for a one-year sentence in July, prosecutors are now pushing for two years behind bars in exchange for a guilty plea. Cherry's lawyer, Danielle Follett, claims the prosecution's efforts to land a longer sentence are a nod to the animal-rights activists who have been protesting in front of the courthouse

Thank goodness I believe in Karma, because what happens to like this won't be anywhere near what she deserves.
 
Yep.....we all agree. She has no remorse and will escalate if given the opportunity.
How many times have we read that serial killers started out killing and torturing animals.
 
Given the number and variety of crimes she has been caught committing recently, she won't be out on the streets for long. She is a thief and robs, she has at least three times. She kills animals, she has weapons. She is dangerous, and one year is not enough time in my opinion. You think after your third robbery in which you engaged in extreme animal cruelty, you'd get a little more than a year in jail.

If this were one of my kids, I'd be in prison, guaranteed.

I agree with you 150% - I had no idea that I'd be at the point of tears. When I saw 500 degrees, I started wondering what her mental state was - excited, thrilled! I wish I never went there. She's probably got a lot of skeletons in her closet...meaning this didn't start here, at this level of cruelty. If we find out she wets her bed and starts fires, we should get a rubber stamp that's would permanently mark her with the initial of serial killer because sadly, this is one of the characteristics of one and we (well, I shouldn't speak for anyone else)...so I fully expect whatever sentence that's passed down will be an 'in one ear, out the other'

We've seen it time and time again and to this day. Look at the Ohio whack job that filled his home with...not knick knacks but women! And Phillip Garrido and then 2 of the Shanda Sharars murderers...that it continues to go on, is extremely upsetting and ALARMING. I don't even open my garage door before locking my doors anymore because lately, we've been barraged with horrific losses. Anyone else feel like crime is going up or is it just me???

I wish she got more time. A year in "prison" is really the county jail or, Rikers, rather. People sentenced to over 1 year go to prison.
 
I would HOPE they're going to give her counseling as well. IF they do NOT, we'll most likely be seeing her in the news again. Only next time, her victim would probably be a human.
