Behind a paywall for me unfortunately, can you summarise?
Ooops!Behind a paywall for me unfortunately, can you summarise?
Well, holy smokes! I didn't realize they claimed to be married.

Ghislaine Maxwell tells all from inside her US prison cell | Daily Mail Online
They have a point though. There seems to be a bit of a media push on behalf of GM pre-trial.
I've never heard of a prisoner having 13 hours a day computer and teleconferencing access. I'm not sure we have the whole picture. They have a point though.
I agree with every word Sarah V wrote.
Touche!I've never heard of a prisoner having 13 hours a day computer and teleconferencing access. I'm not sure we have the whole picture.
Thing is, the article doesn't touch on the main reason why GM is still remanded:Touche!

The Court again concludes that the Government has shown by a preponderance of the evidence that the Defendant presents a risk of flight and that there are no set of conditions, including the Defendant’s third set of proposed conditions, that are sufficient to reasonably assure her appearance.

It is a detention building with cells but conditions are good.
Some of them are innocent so it is unthinkable to treat them as convicted criminals.
What if an innocent person waiting for a trial had a heart attack because of inhumane treatment?
But I live in Europe - and we have already discussed this issue here many times.
If I deal with a horrible person, does it mean I have to sink to this person's level?
I think not.
But I have tackled this issue many times here in this thread, writing about ALL incarcerated.Aside from her special privileges for court prep and apparently having a whole floor to herself, she's treated no different from the other prisoners in Brooklyn's MDC. Her every move is monitored by security cams, but so are other inmates. She's lucky she doesn't share her shower with another roommate or live in gen pop with an old shower unit (MDC West is getting upgraded showers, not sure if they've already done it, but the contract was awarded earlier this year). If GM's got rat roomies or maggots in her food, so do the other inmates. Just wait until the cold weather sets in and she finds out whether her cell gets enough heat. If it doesn't, she won't be the only one freezing near to death. It's inhumane conditions for everybody, not just the socialite who's getting all the media attention. It isn't a Jeff Bezzo's retreat, it's a notorious prison known for inmates' suffering and human rights violations.
We're talking about America, which is medieval minded in a lot of ways. Many people and children in American jails and prisons die or suffer severe injuries and they will continue to do so. Many people on the outside fight for inmate rights and it's been a decades long struggle. In this thread, the point is, GM, aside from her noted privileges, is being treated like the rest of the numbers rotting in MDC. Until the system changes, feel sympathy not just for the socialite, but for all the other incarcerated in inhumane conditions in America.
