Sweet they are bonding. But then they will be separated. Poor Hunter will be left behind wondering what happened to his best bud. That is a darling video tho.

Johari & Oliver connected in July of 2019, which would place Johari in the 14-16 month (15 month on average) window for expecting a calf. There have been no other connections since, and Johari has remained very uninterested in any and all advances.
Testing has proven inconclusive, but physical and behavioral observations have us all scratching our heads!
It is in Johari's best interest for us to use the information and observations on hand, to officially go into Giraffe Watch during the coming weeks. Also some sad news that Aprils last baby Azizi has died unexpectedly.

I just read that

April the giraffe's calf, Azizi, dies at Texas zoo | 11alive.com

The veterinary staff at the East Texas Zoo and Gator Parks said during a post-mortem review Azizi had a "twisted gut around his cranial mesenteric artery, which was ultimately the cause of his death."

Sadly our April has passed away.


"It is with the heaviest of hearts that Animal Adventure Park announces the tremendous loss of our beloved April the Giraffe," the post stated. "Euthanasia was carried out at April’s home in Harpursville this morning, due to her worsening arthritis, in accordance with the recommendations of her veterinary team."
