OMG!! I scrolled back as far as I cared to on the AAP's FB page and found this from JANUARY 13TH:

Wanted to share a quick photo of April and her large belly!
We receive at least a dozen comments, messages, or other inquiries daily, to see if she has given birth yet.
Trust us! You will all know when the process starts or she surprises us with a calf! We are as excited as you!
With the right timing, we will live stream the birth and process before and after.
Like our page and select "follow page" so you will be notified when we begin!
Let me assure you we are close!

JANUARY 13TH! What in the world? I found comments saying "we're close!" going back to January 2nd! I understand that it's hard to predict a due date in a giraffe, but that is so far off it's mind blowing!

Hummm..........

Oliver's 'room' is getting a deep clean and he's in with April... he's all over like he's hugging her lol. It's so cool to watch. <3

Oliver! Stop that and leave poor April alone! Typical male...always has to see if the waters are friendly.

Sorry about this being Cosby, but I could not find another cheer that may help April.

I just tuned in to see if anything had happened. Her stall has poop everywhere. Geez, you'd think they'd clean it more often. What mother animal would want to drop her calf into a pile of dung? She's stepping in it as she paces. Poor girl.

Certainly with all their donations they can afford a bit better maintenance.

I hope the weather is defrosted so they can go outside tomorrow. They must be going nuts in those stalls.

Oliver is trying to gallop around his stall. He needs to run!

I saw that too. It would have been really cute to watch him jump and buck - if he had room to do it. Poor boy. :(

When was the last time they were out? I thought it was cause of the storm?

Looks like whe is giving him the riot act!

I've been watching for a month, as of yesterday, and I haven't seen them outside since the storm hit. I think that was two weeks ago. It's entirely possible I missed something but they're still talking about digging out from the storm.

Partial update for the evening:

3/28 Evening Update
And away we go!
April continues to progress in front of our eyes! Mammary development has increased again since this morning! Updated photo in comments.

It does look like her milk is coming in but WHAT DOES THAT MEAN, in the grand scheme of delivery. Hours, days, longer? I really get the feeling that they don't know, either.

Not much of an update about April herself, the part I snipped was about the giraffe store, what they've sold out of and blah, blah.

Started watching a month ago ... When her due date was Mid Jan to End of Feb ... Guess they were a bit off ... Would be funny if she has the calf April 1st ... Was avid watcher however cut back and check a few times a day... With all the media attention figured my breaking new alert apps will go off when she goes into labor.

April is a darling to watch ...

3/29 Late Morning Update
We apologize for the late update but it is for good reason. We will not confirm active labor, but we do have discharge that would suggest the count down to calf has begun! Mammary development is on point and picture is in comments. We will keep everyone posted throughout the day with developments. Our team and Vet are on standby. We could be hours away or days - so do not stop your day - but certainly don't stop watching!
For those still asking, the Apparel store is open and processing orders as they are made. The April the Giraffe Plush is nearing sell out status! Act fast, we have more than one clock to race now!

Giraffe Factoid: Baby Talk
To readdress what to expect! From hooves to baby on the ground - could be as quick as 30-60 minutes. Baby will be on average 150# and 6' tall. Within an hour, we want to see baby on its feet. Yes, baby will stumble, fall, and face plant - but it is all part of the process and we cannot intervene. Once standing, we want baby to nurse within the next 60-120 minutes to get the essential colostrum. Our team will not intervene unless we absolutely have to. You will not see us in the stall, but we are all there waiting.
We will stay live on youtube throughout the process.
Tragedy can strike, and we are prepared, but have faith we will have a safe and sound delivery and calf. Hooves crossed.

I don't know? I still wish we had a Verified Giraffe Birthing Professional in here. Perhaps CARIIS could fill in? Tee hee :p

HarHarHar!
I could ask my beautiful and super talented Giraffe, September Sapphire, she is getting her beauty rest for the next 20 minutes though.
