I would appreciate it everyone would take a step back from what they think they know here. This is the work of James Debardeleben. And for once I can prove he was right there in the area at the time of the abduction. But before I do - consider this - she was walking alone (likely hitchhiking), in trouble with the police and clearly not planning on going anywhere (not packed, stopped at a friend's house to see if she if she wanted to walk to the bar with her. She said no thanks). So.... We have a confused teenager that likes drugs, lives in Long Island in the late 70's early 80's going for a walk on secluded road with not much around.
Enter our bad guy. He's a police impersonator. He has fake badges, fake sirens and a mean and to the point disposition. Picture if you will, he stops, he says; "Police, get in the car!" shows her a badge. She's certain the police are looking for her, she's startled - she reluctantly cooperates. Done. Handcuffs, guns, threats. They are in the wind.
Now - if you have a hard time picturing what I am saying to you, I implore you to look at the article (link below) and most especially the comments from a reader at the bottom of the page. He was there. He was doing just what I said, and she can pick him out of a photo ID. That puts him in the area at that time with intention to do harm.
We (my brother and I) contacted the private detective and a brother about the theory. As the case has been in so many of this guy's crimes, they blow it off. He was a monster. She was his perfect type. He was on the prowl and she was in trouble with the law. He pretended to be the law and prayed on young women walking on their own.
Evidence lockers at the Secret Service surely carry some clue to this crime. Her ID, some DNA or notes and/or tapes of her ordeal exist there. Perhaps even pictures.
