It just makes me wonder what tricks he is up to now! Last i knew, his defense lawyers were going to see if they could suppress evidence, now they want to quit? I hope they arent excused cause it would mean another long delay to the trial.

I'm worried it might give GR grounds for appeal later if his lawyer is ordered to continue representing him when, for whatever reason, he no longer wants to.

Been thinking about Jenn a lot over that last few days, the anniversary of finding her... Really hope this doesn't add more delay and that there will be some of the J4J team there to let Remy know people don't forget.

A quick update from court today, the judge allowed GR to release his attorneys and has 30 days to get a new one. I need to edit the full report, it has some things in it that aren't allowed in here. Feel free anyone I sent it to, make it allowable and post it. :floorlaugh: So sorry, I had a busy day on top of court and I'll update as soon as I can.

I have to go get my kids

Okay here is a very short version of what was received from Upstate:

First thing is GR is the one asking for the release. GR stood there and said, "This is utterly disgusting!" His attorney stood up and hushed GR and continued whispering in GR's ear. Judge gave GR 30 days to find a new attorney and GR replied, "I'll have a new attorney in one day! I can do in one day what took these attorneys a year!". ADA Dunshee was for the people of NY. Jen's Mom and Dad were there as well as several people from the Justice for Jennifer site.

Upstate may want to update this when she gets back online. This is a very small snippet from the info that she sent, but I tried to keep it to just the facts.

The following article was updated with additional information:

I am confused now. Last article i read before this new event, it said the defense attorneys had requested postponing the trial date until May because they wanted to file a motion to get a suppression of evidence.( I tried to find a link to that article but i couldnt find one.) Now this happens that the defense attorneys file a request to be dismissed from the case. Sounds like the defense knew they didnt have a chance? And it makes me wonder if GR couldnt pay the lawyers and defense experts, how would he pay for a new attorney? And why get one from so far away as NJ? Seems as though that would be a major inconvience when it comes to court dates and such.

The way I read it, He wanted the attorneys dismissed- and made sure they wanted to be.

IMO - he didn't pay his atty's or experts because he didn't like what they had to say. So, tell them the loan didn't come through, save the money and hire someone else that might say what he wants to hear.

I am checking in on poor Jen's thread...

Well, well, well...

Seems GR is continuing with his same pattern of behaviors... (:tantrum:)

I so wish there was some way for this process to go more smoothly for the loved ones of Jennifer....

:(

From what I understood, it sounded like GR had a disagreement with Ackerman and it was GR that initiated the release of his attorneys. It sounded like that was the last straw for his attorneys (mainly Ackerman) Chamberlain was still there helping GR in court yesterday. I did hear several times it was the unpaid fees that were standing in the way of having a smooth transaction (para phrasing most of this - very quick hearing and very quiet with whispering involved)

Ackerman wasn't present, Chamberlain was. GR began complaining about Ackerman' s health issues and not being able to see him for over 5 months. He continued, "It is utterly disgusting for it to have taken over a year and still not have the discovery." This is when Chamberlain interrupted and whispered into GR's ear. Chamberlain continued on GR's behalf and said, "The DA is ready with the discovery" ADA Stephen Dunshee added, Yes the DA is ready with the discovery"

The judge basically explained, GR needs to fill out an application to consent to the release of his attorneys. He continued to say GR had 30 days to find new council. GR interrupted with, "I only need one day. I can do in 1 day what they (his attorneys) have done in a year. The judge continued with, "You have outstanding bills with your attorneys and specialists your attorneys hired to help prove their case"

It was hard to keep up with GR mumbling and speaking out. I heard GR say how badly he has been being treated, I'm not sure if he meant by attorneys or at the jail.

I hope I did this correctly and it helps answer any questions
