JG is the older son (younger son is on the video linked above).

I haven't seen the boyfriend's name mentioned (and he hasn't been named a POI either), but he is in the video.

And, the DailyMail picked up the story. As usual, they have more photos than other stories.

My questions are:
* The boyfriend says Joan has gone missing for a few days at a time in the past. I'm not really buying that. She has rheumatoid arthritis, which may or may not mean anything, and it looks like she has a steady job. I have the impression she wouldn't just disappear on the street or whatever. Where does she supposedly go when gone? And obviously, she isn't wherever it is she supposedly would go to - didn't that seem strange to him before Wednesday?

* How did the boyfriend find her car? It's parked several blocks away, but those are crowded blocks with cars parked along them. What made him drive around and look for her car? Was he with LE when this happened or on his own? (ETA: No, he was on his own. He reported Joan missing after he found her car.) Not casting suspicion on him - but wondering if he had info from the son who has been arrested for using her credit card. The son apparently lives in Crown Heights in Queens, not in the Bronx. So, why park there?

* Has the nearby Bronx River been searched? :(

Garcia was taken into custody and charged with grand larceny and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle while police investigate the disappearance. Police say he was in possession of his missing mother's 1998 red Toyota Suburban SUV before his arrest.

The NYPD reportedly has surveillance of him both exiting the vehicle and at a Bronx business using her credit card.
Police found her car parked in another section of the Bronx, and a bloody palm print was found inside the vehicle. Blood was also found inside her apartment. Investigators combed through the building, including her apartment, hallway and roof, and removed evidence.

It is sounding like to me that he returned to the apartment to get the credit card after the disposed of the body, which is why her purse/wallet was found with blood. He still had blood on his hands, imo. To me, this indicates desperation for MONEY rather than rage toward his mother in general. Since it seem his mom wasn't giving up the money (assumption on my part), I'm thinking the reason he needed money wasn't for good reasons (such as caring for a child, paying a bill) but for bad reasons (drugs comes to mind).

So, my speculation is there was a violent encounter at the apartment. With so much blood, I'm guessing knife wounds. He transported her somewhere (my guess would be Bronx River, but that's just a guess), parked the car away from her apartment but close enough that he could walk back.

I am hoping the palm print in the car matches his print - and it's a slam-dunk to charge him with murder. At that point, I'm hoping he reveals where the body is. Until definitive proof, I don't think he will reveal because that knowledge implies guilt.

I absolutely hate thinking of her out in the elements. She must be found! (And, at this point, I do think it's "recovery" of the body rather than rescue. I would love to be wrong about that.)

I agree that it's going to be a recovery of the body. I hate that but signs are pointing that way. If the son was involved he's been in custody since yesterday, you would think if they got him to crack by this time then Joan would've been located.

-Going off of this I would think whatever transpired happened after that time and that it either happened on the way to the VA, on the way back OR in the apartment after the appt was meet (if it was meet) *all speculation on my part*

I know we can't sleuth the boyfriend but just saying this doesn't match up either. If he took her wouldn't he have stayed with her or picked her up?

Smh on his Facebook he has a photo, (not with his mom) but the description is Blood is thicker than water. :(

ETA Also a post about being loyal to his self, brother and father. Mom wasn't mentioned.

I agree with whoever said upthread that it seems the son needed money, possibly for drugs. There was one photo of him in the DM link posted before, where he is in a gym (I think) and he looks very muscular. Steroids?

Ugh how can you kill you own mom? That's just terrible.

Here's a better view of where Joan was found - on a steep wooded hill. I think her pink shirt is what got her spotted, though I did read a report that she was wearing a coat to maybe I'm wrong. But I do like to think that her pink shirt got her noticed.

How could he do that to his own mother?!?!?! (ETA: I'm assuming it was the son who is in custody for using her credit card. However, he has not been charged with murder as of yet.) jmo
