Joel Stephany, 27, of Lima was last seen on August 27 in the area of North Clinton Avenue in Rochester. Stephany is six feet tall with long brown hair and a Roman numeral tattoo on his left arm. He was last seen wearing green pants and a blue flannel shirt.

Investigators have searched parks and walking trails in Honeoye Falls, where Stephany is known to visit. Investigators, however, say they have no significant leads on his whereabouts.

Joel's Family Is Asking For Your Help

The last known sighting of Joel Stephany was August 27. A friend reported driving from Joel's home in Lima and dropping the 27-year-old Honeoye Falls-Lima graduate off somewhere along North Clinton Avenue. What happened to him after that is at the heart of this mystery.

Soon, a billboard with Joel Stephany's photo will be on display along Route 390 near the airport, courtesy of Rochester Area Crime Stoppers. His family is offering a $5,000 reward for information that helps them find Joel. They believe someone out there knows something, but might fear coming forward.

Parents of missing Lima man raising reward for information that helps find their son

Now, they’ve taken the current reward to find Joel, from $5,000, $10,000. The hope is, someone will be motivated to come forward and share any information they have with the police, or the family.

"You want answers, at the very least you want closure,” Stephany said. “And somebody at the very very very least knows something."

Growing up, Joel Stephany joined Cub Scouts and played Little League. In high school, he was part of the annual musicals. He was especially close with his younger brother, who is now away at college.
"Joel was just fun," recalls his dad. "He was our only child for six years, and we were young parents. We took him everywhere."

"When Joel was small, he was the sweetest kid ever," says his mom. "As he's grown up, he's been the same way. And still so sweet."
Joel Stephany's parents say he has struggled with substance abuse. And while that added to their worry over the years, it didn't diminish their love for him.
