WOW, reading this statement again after not thinking about the case for a while gave me a breakthrough idea. Maybe the perp isn't actually impotent, but was on drugs, making him temporarily so. Heroin, Meth, and Cocaine can all delay ejaculation and can lower someone's inhibitions towards violence or crime. Meth seems more likely to me as it has (arguably) the strongest effect and I have seen lots of abusers in the area.

Sounds to me like they are trying to grasp at straws right now. They are looking for multiple people who "may have information." And yes, it's strange that the man just stopped running there, but also not really because Phil says himself in this very interview that the police are still there everyday. Who would continue running there? That's stressful.

However, I do think the perp was familiar with the park. Very likely someone Phil has seen before at least once. But to me, unlikely a runner because running = endorphins = happiness / good health / clear mind USUALLY.

I enlarged one of the pictures and played with the brightness and contrast with a not sophisticated system, from Mr. Sliwa's FB post from this afternoon. There are sleuthers who could do a better job enhancing the face, not to mention LE.

Since it's against the TOS to post it here (unless the mods make an exception?) in terms of features, to my eye, it looks possible that it may be the guy in the sketch. The man in the sketch has a more squat pinched look, which could be part of losing weight or whatever stress he felt at the time. The guy in Mr. Sliwa's sketch, his face seems longer or passive, his chin dropped, but his bottom lip still comes forward. His eyebrows, forehead and cheekbones could be right too. I guess it could be the same guy with different expressions. Then what's a little surprising is that though in the side view his chin kind of drops, the enhanced edited version of the frontal one has the same effect with the chin as the sketch. The other similarity is the beard line, as best as I could make it out: it looks like the picture guy like the sketch guy, does not grown hair just under his lip.

I think it's great the Angels are helping. It's going to take a lot of awareness of the sketch to jog just the right memories in the area, if not more about who may have spent time around there. I uploaded the picture just in case it is permitted, for later.

I believe the perp is familiar with the park as well and knew not to exit towards the side of the park with houses but instead to the bike path along the Belt Pkwy. Where she was found it would of been quicker to exit out of the park to 78th street, instead of the other way. This wasn't someone who was in the park for the first time. He knew where exit to be off camera or residents seeing him.

Interesting, thank you for the information, SleuthVR. If I'm understanding it right, wouldn't meth be like dumb rage, high risk taking type stuff, where as this perp actions seem more predatory, thought out?

Yes, but it was so violent that either the perp was very strong and angry OR on drugs. Also, Karina's mom has been calling the perp "impotent," yet he committed this violent rape. Sounds like meth, where both of those things are possible simulatenously.

A lot of drugs can induce rage and sexual arousal yet impotence as well....including alcohol. Even Shakespeare knew this, way back when he wrote the guard scene in macbeth.
 
I don't know.. I don't think Meth is really big in here NYC. I know Heroin Pot and that weird K2 Synthetic pot is big issue here now. I know Crack and Cocaine was really big in the 1980s and 90s in NYC. Meth is bigger in the South and the Midwest as far as I know.. BUT I can totally be wrong.

He may have meant "impotent" in a metaphorical sense.

When I first heard the quote, I didn't think Karina's mom meant the perp was literally "impotent." I think she was speaking more out of anger as if she were trying to goad him in some way. Similar to when she called him "dickless." If Karina were raped, then obviously her attacker wasn't impotent or "dickless."

Has it been 100% confirmed that she was raped? Or was she violated with an object and/or sodomized? If the latter, then it could mean the perp was impotent, but that's not the feeling I received from the mother's quote.

Agreed. I thought she was just name calling. There was an article I read closer to when it happened that said she was "raped x2". However, since then I haven't heard much mention of it.
 
Her friend posted a beautiful picture of the memorial site on her instagram. I was going to post a link but not sure if it violates any rules.
