Yes, I know DNA won't tell us his country.... sigh...what I meant was : if we knew his ethnicity perhaps LE could make an extra effort to show this composite in that ethnic community, might get more traction. I was just commenting that even though he might have no DNA on file here, he could have a long record in his country of origin, assuming he was not from this country. Hope this clears it up. and jmo
DNA doesn't quite work that way. It can't for example say your Russian....it might point to be Eastern European though, which is a pretty broad category. Most people also don't just show genetic phenotypes for one region though, they would likely be a mix that could show percentages from various regions of the world. Some of this can indicate if someone has strong Africa ancestry...they are very likely dark skinned. But it can't tell your ethnicity in a way that would point to a specific neighborhood. It's just not that precise. Genetics is very very complicated and it's very very much in its infancy, we still have so much to learn and understand about it.
Just as an add on, their are a few very very tight knit communities they haven't intermarried much over the centuries that carry distinctive phenotypes that can precisely identify an ancestry but this is the exception rather then the rule
