Locals, are you noticing if the sketch is posted on flyers around the neighborhood?

The audience who might have info about the person in the sketch might not be people surfing the 'net. Flyers might catch the attention LE needs.

Let us know what you see. TIA.

Last night I saw some light poles with the sketch on Crossbay Blvd, closer to Woodhaven area (near my house), so I'm thinking they are also in Howard Beach.

Good point. Hope the flyer is posted in as many neighbs as possible. Wish I was there to help...

Yes, of course. But there is also a specific style that has that little tip at the top.

Whatever the case, I hope the hat triggers someone's memory. The top bump on the hat was significant enough to be noticed.

Along with wearing a red Tee shirt. Its a noticable color. His face and description is everywhere. He will see himself eventually. It will look bad if he does not walk into a police station.

I don't think it's a specific style. It's a beanie cap. The little "tip" happens when it isn't fully pulled on all the way. My kids wear these.

I wonder why he hasn't already gone to,or called LE ? This murder has been widely publicized in the NY metro area. So, one would think he would have realized that he was close by ? jmo I sure hope he does come forward. jmo

With respect and I don't know you but For the life of me and countless victims who had their own God-given lives, their earthly dwelling cut short because of the most gruesome horrific crimes done by said "hurt" perps, when I say those perpetrators are pure evil, I'm going lightly. Evil isn't supernatural. No good person chooses to be evil. There is a conscience. And quite frankly, if someone is deeply hurt bc of their own experiences in life, and want to take it out on other people's lives, I can't even think of a word that is more further from supernatural. Ghosts are supernatural. Good, evil, joy, suffering, pain, sorrow, love....that's the nature of this material life. You're worried about dehumanizing this monster to society? You can't undo what he's already shown the world he is. His actions spoke volumes. This evil monster was the opposite of Karina. He took away a flourishing light filled with positivity and replaced it with anger grief sadness heartache. He took her earthly life away in the most despicable sickening horrible way. That to me is pure evil. Back on subject, we are all here to unite and see that through her family & friends, Karina had lots of things going for her and led a beautiful life filled with love and adventure and a close family who will stop at nothing. I know I always think of her when I go running now. She's like everyone's running buddy as a guardian angel. Have a great day everyone and always let your loved ones know it ;)

Brilliant second post, MLC! Thank you!

He may have turned it inside out?

In NY jogger killing, a DNA sample but no one to match it to
Jake Pearson, of AP
,

9 1 16 ~ 1:16 pm edt,

A thorough informative consideration of the investigation thus far and that,

"Police have said they don't believe Vetrano knew her assailant, though some detectives believe she may have had a stalker. Her parents have publicly pleaded for anyone with information to come forward.

J Pearson also notes that

To preserve a path to prosecution, district attorneys in many states, including Ohio, Arkansas, Delaware and New York, have made a practice of securing criminal indictments in rape cases of "John Doe" defendants, who have been identified only by their DNA profiles.

That legal strategy was devised to stop the clock on statutes of limitation for sex crimes, but it also points to the frequency of instances where investigators have DNA but no suspect.

Also noted in several other MSM outlets as well

"The gaunt-faced individual was seen by several people, including a utility worker in the area, Boyce said."

Eva Pilgrim, GMA, (1:33 mins) report

quotes Chief of Detectives, Boyce saying

"We also have DNA from her fingernails. Probably the strongest we have."

and Mr. Vetrano tells this "predator"

"The world is against him. I'm coming for him."

Rumors, while they may or may NOT be true, have no place here and posting them violates WS Rules/TOS. :tyou:

The human condition is far more complicated then that. You said good people don't choose evil....by extension you are saying some people are born not good. That is simply NOT true.

And when people choose to believe such nonesense we bring more harm to society. For every kid that got labeled "the bad one" in school...the teachers the people in his life that chose to see him that way helped enable this man to become the broken adult he was. By labeling him, they gave up on him....be misunderstanding him, they pushed him away further...when people get shunned and pushed away their mind goes to dark places. When a person is female and suffer they tend to turn inward and blame themselves. But when it happens to males they tend to turn the blame outward and on to others.

It is a vicious cycle that starts early in life and needs to be squashed early in life.

If we were more accepting of people differences, if we were more loving then judging, if we sought to know people rather then label them....but NO ONE is born evil.

There is an excellent book on this topic, I HIGHLY recommend it, it's called "The Science of Evil"

It also gets into the aspects of sociopatholigy....and that while some people don't intuitively understand or intuitively have empathy, but most still comprehend, respect, and adhere to a strong moral compass. In other words they still understand right from wrong, even if the don't feel emotion. It's really the convergence of said personality with trauma and lack of support system that leads sociopaths to become criminals.

I am respectfully asking if you believe that all criminals, deviants, sociopaths, etc are all a product of "nurture" (aka how they were brought up & the conditions they endured) and that "nature" (aka genetic preclavities/inherent brain formalities) does not play a part in that?

I think I maybe missing something but I don't know where to find this..thank you for your help

I've seen a lot of people throw around the word evil or pure evil in reference to perps and I have to say it really bothers me.

People are hurt, damaged, confused, disturbed, selfish...but they are not evil. No one is born evil.

Hurt people, hurt people. Period.

When we say they are evil we reduce the act of their crime to something almost supernatural or beyond the human condition. When we do this we do nothing to acknowledge the pieces of our society that cause so much hurt and pain in the first place.

We have to stop dehumanizing people, even those who have made choices to carry out despicable acts. There is always a reason and a path that filled their hearts with so much pain and which led them to cope with this pain by harming others.

I just think we don't help ourselves, the victims, or society when we reduced complex human beings to the single dehumanizing word of evil.

Yes. A million times, yes! Thank you. I think we try to make sense of the senseless, which is impossible, especially as (mostly) rational humans. But these people who commit these acts are sick. Very, very sick. A normal brain/person has empathy. It's the foundation for our social selves. And while so much of it is learned, there is a great deal that is simply the way we are wired. Some people literally have a weaker paralimbic system in their brains, keeping them from good decision making, thinking of consequences, caring for the feelings of another, etc. Biology may not always be destiny, but in terms of psychopathic behavior, it currently is. Here's to future research in neuroscience that may help those with no empathy, those with the desire to harm others, and those who are unable to control sexual attraction to children. I can't imagine.
