A Utica Sgt. handling this case tells me 29-year-old, Naythen Aubain, has shown no remorse. Police say he’s accused of the double killings in Utica. The 90-year-old woman was his grandmother, the 87-year-old was his landlord.

Oneida County District Attorney tells me earlier today Naythen Aubain could be charged with murder in the 2nd degree.. the DA says he now could possibly face the highest degree of charges - murder in 1st degree.

Utica man facing murder charges in connection to the death of his grandmother, her landlord

During his arraignment on Tuesday, Aubain said, “I chopped her up. I chopped my landlady up too. I’ll chop up anyone who disrespects me.”

When asked why he allegedly killed his grandmother, he said it was because she was touching him sexually, and he had enough of it.

In court he said, "I killed her in the name of the Lord. She tried to get me to do nasty things. I had enough.”

Wow, I'm really shocked at the reason he gave for killing his grandmother. I just don't know how to comment on that.

He sounds like someone who may be experiencing both delusions (accusing his grandmother of molesting him) and hallucinations (hearing God tell him to do what he did to the poor women).

It does sound like there is a mental health component to these crimes, IMO.

*picks jaw up off the floor*
I’m stunned that the landlord’s head & torso were just out in the street! Omg! And he dismembered them both... What in the world?! I shudder to think of those ladies last minutes. I think he clearly has a mental health component here. Is there drugs involved, too...idk. I guess we’ll find out more down the road. I’m seriously freaked out. What cruel, cold crimes. All moo.

Yes definitely a mental health component here and I expect there will be a record of that as well. I was wondering about drugs but it looks far more like mental health.

I cannot even imagine being the parent of Naythen and child of Katerine right now. It would be absolutely horrific. It's clear that his issues were known but a Grandma is a Grandma.

This is absurd! Why in the heck kill two elderly women? And to think, a grandma, at one point in life excitedly awaiting her grandson's birth, his first steps, first words, first days of school, and fast forward to today, being afraid as he killed her. How in the world does that happen??!?!

And the other victim, wanting a place to live, and now murdered.

I'm with other posters in that I don't think I've ever seen evidence of someone dragging a body posted on SM!!! During a trial we may have seen that video, but before her body had even be found?!?! What are people thinking in posting that stuff?? With the murderer in an induced coma, there may not be a trial, but, those posting that video probably didn't know that! How you not realize you had evidence, call the police to come see it, and keep your mouth quiet?!?! I don't understand. I pray I never understand! This generation of sharing everything on SM is bizarre to me. I'm glad all we had was polaroids, or other cameras that likely the film never got developed! I don't think I would want every move of my life to have been recorded for future employers, and my future offspring to see! Yes we lived and had fun, but we sure didn't brag to our parents about it, or fellow church members!
so disturbing. we asked for it to be removed. unfortunatly some get off on the shock value. This kid has no remorse- he mutilated both bodies.

Sure its disturbing, but isn't it time we got a good look at what goes on in this world? I believe there must be a mental health issue here and we have precious little help for the mentally ill. If not mentally ill, then just plain evil. Everyone needs to see what evil really is, why pretty it up?

the womans grandkids had to see that, i just saw no need for that to be made public. they were begging the folks to take it down.

Yes, it is a shame the grandkids had to see their grandmother's body being dragged around. IMO it's a worse shame that another grandchild butchered his grandmother and another innocent woman. If the grandkids, or anyone else don't want to see what really happens in many of these cases, don't click on the videos, don't read social media. Crime, especially murder, is UGLY. Maybe its time everyone see how disgusting/disturbing it really is, no hints or innuendos, the real thing. Maybe it would do some good somewhere. IMO

RBBM for focus

I am not a clinician, so I am purely speculating here, but based on what has been reported about his behavior during the arraignment last night, his seeming lack of remorse may be yet another indication of mental illness, IMO.

And if so, most likely he is absolutely convinced of everything he told the Court as to why he did what he did: that his grandmother was touching him inappropriately, she wanted him to do “nasty things,” and that she and the landlady disrespected him.

IMO, In his mind, he did the right thing by doing what God wanted him to do: to chop them up.

All of this may also explain why “when law enforcement arrived [after the car crash], he told them about a dead body inside a Tilden Avenue residence,”
Utica man on killing his grandma: 'I chopped her up. I'll chop up anyone who disrespects me'

and “that he had killed someone.”
Grandson to be charged for killing, dismembering 2 elderly women in Utica, DA says

The fact that he hid his grandmother’s remains (“Oneida County District Attorney Scott McNamara said the grandmother's body was buried in a 'remote area' off a 'dead-end road') does make me to think perhaps once the women were dead, he realized the gravity of the situation he’d put himself in and that he had better get rid of incriminating evidence. I do wonder how much more effort he would have put into concealing his crimes if it weren’t for the accident.

He did do everything he is being accused of, IMO. Whether he is convicted of the charges or found not guilty for reason of insanity, he must be kept away from the public for ever, IMO.

Yeah, but many apps AUTOSTART videos. You're seeing them before you even have a chance to pause.

Then click it off as soon as you realize what it is. It isn't all that traumatic, IMO, a body being dragged, nothing that would give most people nightmares or send them to a safe place. Yeah, I would have been horrified if that had been a member of my family - oh wait, been there when an unknown body was found floating in the river. Splashed all over TV that was. I still don't have nightmares. If people today are sooo squemish, perhaps they should stay offline, out of the newspapers.

IMO it is better to know exactly what does happen, than pretend any murder is pretty or not so bad. Maybe it's time people grow up.

This hurts me deeply. What a lovely and vibrant lady she was, and she made it to a ripe old age just to be betrayed by the grandson she loved and tried to help. It makes me very sad.

If he turns out to be mentally ill I feel sad for him too.

Ugh awful case :( Just sad.
