Is it? It is known that different races of people are more susceptible to different diseases, such as alcoholism or addiction and others such as heart disease or metabolic disorders. I don't see why this wouldn't include mental illness as well. It's all about genetics. Not trying to stir the pot here, just trying to find answers.

In all seriousness though, let's just say LI and the Chicago area are similar in size. The pop density of Chicago is much more dense of course. Right now we have the current SK, Rifkin and a possible one dumping around Manorville (someone linked to this article earlier http://www.longislandpress.com/2011/03/24/long-islands-other-serial-killer/ in LI. All within about a 10-20 year span. That's scary. I vaguely recall maybe a 4th but I'm not confident enough on that. Let me know if there are others.

Is this not insane? I would love to know "professional" theories on this (and I know you're out there). Is it the chemical and biological environment (literally, is there something in the water)? Does it tie into the types of people that immigrated to this area and the DNA associated today (meaning, many Italians immigrated to New York while many Germans immigrated to Wisconsin as one example and certain things have been attributed to different races, such as some races being more susceptible to heart disease as one example)? Or is it that major metro areas on average have a number or SKs at work every 10 years or so and we just don't know about them?

Look at it this way, you have an Escort Driver and a Boyfriend who broke her jaw that are Shannon's contacts in NYC. I could see Shannon's mom not exactly trusting them due to their history. I could also see AD and MP feeling like they aren't exactly reputable because of this and thinking it might get the heat from SG's mom off of their backs if they have someone more reputable call. Even if it doesn't make complete sense, I don't think MP or AD are the sharpest tools in the shed (not that I think they're dumb) I just think they would be content doing a half-assed job.

Then you have the first call MG supposedly heard from a Doctor that took Shannon in. Does anyone know when she first made this statement? Did it happen before the other victims were found?

If it was my daughter and I felt like she was being ignored due to her profession I might stretch the truth and try to link her vanishing to the serial killings. I think this could also explain why she doesn't think she drowned. It could be a gut feeling. I could also see a parent thinking their kid drowned in this case due to confirmation bias and preferring that outcome to being murdered.

If that call was made from some "Unknown Doctor" could it have been Pak? Maybe he felt guilty about leaving her in Oak Beach and didn't know what to do?


Like someone said earlier, there is a lot of similarities to the 4 SK victims, but there is also a lot of differences.

I also remember reading that she carries multiple phones. Something to keep in mind. Also, whats up with CPH saying he saw her running? that part still doesn't fit for me.

I don't think its entirely unreasonable to say origins/ social norms/ and possibly even hereditary factors, factor in to a person's behavior. I understand what you are saying about origins, i just don't think it can be completely separated from social norms.

Another Possibility. CH saw her, befriended her and gave her something to help her calm down. Maybe she lied about what she took that night and it interacted with whatever he gave her. Maybe she fell asleep and when he went to check on her he found out it was too late? Fearing he would loose his license and go to jail he panicked and threw her belongings into the marsh to get rid of it (not knowing this would blow up when it turns out the barrier island is also being used as a dumping ground?)

Could the first phone call have been to the mom while he thought she was sleeping it off? Maybe MG told MP and AD about the call prompting them to sort of seek CH out?

Or could he a feared a neighbor seeing him take her in once she died. Call the mom tell her she's alright and get rid of the body just in case neighbors talk?

"she was here but I took her to my practice where she walked out the door and got into a cab. I don't know where she ended up" - If something happened he might not have thought it through that well???

I think the SCPD is working off a tip. If they feel she drowned, why are they using a backhoe to dig a big hole in the marsh? This makes absolutely NO sense! If she drowned, her body would be laying on the top of the marsh or in those mosquito trenches and wouldn't be buried under much muck or anything else.

Flukeyou on the LISK forum has said that the GB4 bodies were kept in the marshland behind CPH's house. I think that is why they are digging. They would have found SG already if she accidentally drowned back there!

I have been following this case and I'm still not set on an opinion, it is all just too strange. IF SG isn't a victim of the killer it is a HUGE coincidence that the other bodies found were also escorts, and even more so in the same area she says someone was trying to kill her. HUGE! However, I guess anything is possible and I like to keep an open mind to everything.

A few random out of order random thoughts.

As far as the clothes and SG taking them off. If she has been in the elements for as long as she has I think it would be reasonable to assume that her clothes may have come off during decomp or from animals. Remember how badly Caylees clothes were when she was found only 6 months after the fact.
Another thought on the clothes is that if the person many of you seem to suspect is the SK, maybe he dumped these items there in a panic once the cops started asking him questions. He could have felt safe in doing so because he saw that the area was previously searched. It will be interesting to see if she is found there as well. I would imagine finding bones in a dense mucky area like that would be worse then trying to find a needle in a haystack.

The ballet shoes. I'm not sure if these were around back then but the first thought I had when a purse and ballet type shoes were mentioned was these. http://cityslips.com/ They are foldable ballet shoes that come in their own little purse thing. They are great for women who wear uncomfortable shoes/boots often. Like I said, not sure if they were popular last year but I see them in a lot of stores now.

That would probably depend on when the bodies were securely wrapped in burlap, thus preventing separation of bones.

Interesting how CPH's house overlooks that marshy area, but that got me to thinking that it would be very difficult for a person with a prosthetic leg to manoeuver through that area.

ETA: Re the prosthetic leg ... might explain why the GB4 were found so close to the road.

Based on my prior post, Carman Monaco, Jr. works (or worked) at Hub Trucks. There are 2 locations that he would probably work at, Holbrook and Calverton.

Since Hub Trucks only does driverless rentals, he's not still a delivery driver like he was in 2005, so I assume he probably drives truck back and forth to the shop in Calverton (Calverton has a shop mechanic, Holbrook doesn't).

If you look at Bing maps and zoom into the Calverton location (4195 Middle Country Road, Calverton NY), you'll see the Hub Trucks in the parking lot (red triangle on the side. They're on the western side of the industrial complex.

Note the building right there, sitting off kind of like a little island with some trucks backed up to the loading dock. Note the horse trailer in the parking lot.

I'm guessing this little building is Neptune Feed & Saddlery.

I'm wondering if Neptune and Hub Trucks share a dumpster, and if Neptune actually uses burlap to package feed for their customers. They're a feed wholesaler.

Can someone look into whether or not Neptune uses burlap to package their feed? Maybe give them a call? Do they use it to package hay, straw or shavings?

ITA. I also wouldn't expect an unwrapped body to still be intact a year and a half later. Look at the Caylee Anthony case. She was completely skeletonized, bones scattered and clothing tattered after just 5 months. Granted the climates in Florida and LI are very different and it's a child vs. an adult but SG has been out there almost 4 times as long.

if that was the case, wouldn't forensics have been able to detect that the bodies were in marshland prior to being dumped along ocean parkway?
