If Shannan had drowned, who and why would anyone place that call into her mother?

If Shannan was plucked by a killer, not The SK, on her way out of community, who and why would anyone place that call into her mother? No need to-not an SK. Would not know about the graveyard.

The cell phones can be purchased at the checkout counters at Walmart with cash, check, credit card. It comes with a number that has to be activated, but can be activated from a pay phone or through the internet. At no point in the transaction or their use does an identity have to be revealed. The $55 a month limitless call version comes with a cell phone with internet access and e-mail if you want to establish a screen name. It will also take pictures. The first one comes with either a number of minutes or the monthly limitless fee. If you close the minute-buying plan all you have to do is buy another card for more minutes. Or you can throw it away.

CC or Check would leave a trail, Cash would not. If you go online you need a CC. I'm just trying to see if a person could do it all many times without leaving any trail whatsoever

No, thank you. Yes, in PA. Also has been in RH, PA.

He has an alias as well. Frist name Blake. Same last name.

Ohhhhhhhhhh he's a big, big man. I guess thus his name woolybear and he is wooly. Fily here is no prize, but Bless them poor girls is all I can say.

Probably not him. I also found he did something in Massachuesetts.

Im with you, I doubt there is any connection but he seems like a sicko. What did he do in Mass?

This is all very confusing. More it is distracting from what LE has 4 dead girls. I think the family and LE can be telling the truth as they see it. Flip that around and LE/family may be bending the truth as they see it.

Hi, Rigteous1. First, I should say that your post refers to Epiphany's post about the mother and sister claiming that they had told the police about the doctor's call and Dormer contending that the detectives had no been so informed. I think that it might be a combination of prioritization and memory: Just like the surviving family, detectives have a lot to process and this information might have seemed too fragmentary or imprecise to become a major part of official reports.

I'll bet there's no record of it. Escort, irrational, bipolar, drugs, etc., etc. Dormer's not lying, but Gilbert family is not lying either. They (LE) will examine their own house very closely!

Yes, the other thing could be If someone close to me went missing and I felt I wasn't getting the right attention I would say just about anything to get LE on it. I do not think that is the case here. I heard the Sister say she was right next to her mother when the call came in. I believe her.

Probably in Mass the same thing. Procures a "date" and land surveys. I just saw with his entire name that Mass came up when I googled.

I PM'd ya with the name for the heck of it. I cross refrenced and all with a peoplefinders. That's Wooly for sure. Again, naw it's not him, but YIKES!

LE's statement is clear as a bell. We did not receive that information from the Gilbert family. No excuses. We were not told that.

And the Gilbert response is equally clear and strong-we gave you that information half a dozen times.

Tx Redbird. We saw that earlier but can't seem to open the link
...can you pls provide a summary?

I tested both these links and they both worked. I can't summarize because there are a lot of comments and it's about the bureaucratic nightmare way the chain of command works, written by disgruntled LE people, so you have to wade through the insider jargon.

O/T I am sitting here typing away with a tornado warning issued and the TV says the tornado has touched down about 100 miles away. Should I be on that "You know you are addicted when" thread?

If I divide that first length in half do you think it will print out right?

Try it as one word and see if it works.

Yes, you can buy the pre-paid minutes cards with cash and call from the phone to activate those minutes and apply to the phone. Theoretically, as long as the purchase was done with cash each time, it could continue for as long as needed.

I think you need to be prepared to lift your bright red wings and fly to some safe haven.

I hope it blows on by and doesn't cause much destruction. I can't imagine being in a tornado, living in Oregon. We do get hurricane force gale winds tho at the Coast and that is fun, fun and more fun. xox

I'm also with you guys.....I think they got a call. Can LE pinpoint the location, like they did with the calls to Mellissa's sister? As someone had mentioned previously, the caller could have just said he was the doctor. That seems really possible.....but why the half-way house story?

Here is a link to a report about the other guy that was partying w/ Brewer and Gilbert. They don't call him a drifter in this article......but I did see that one, too....don't have the link yet.

Shannan's sis states that she doesn't necessarily think the doc has anything to do with her sister's appearance. However, she states someone made the phone call to her mother a few days after Shannon disappeared saying Shannan was staying at the doc's that night, left in the morning with her driver, etc.

Suffolk C police said they were never told about that phone call, never given that information. Sis says that's an outright lie! She and family told them half a dozen times.

Dormer says Gilbert family has never conveyed to detectives that PH had called them regarding Shannan being in PH's home the night she disappeared. That's a lie, says Sister. Why would we make this up, asks Sister. Not their fault LE didn't write it down.

During the presser yesterday, Dormer stated that the doc "was not a suspect."

Interesting. I will say this, the sister has confused me since the beginning regarding this phone call and what was actual said.
Hopefully the LE didn't drop the ball. The call is a pretty big deal, don't you think?

If there's a will there's a way. I just googled "Schwartz Report" and it came right up. It is worth reading the comments on this forum. It will answer a lot of questions for you about what goes on behind the scenes. Tornado now about 50 miles away

To SeaSlug: how common is it to see and hear 4-wheelers on the beach at all hours and do people use a small trailer with the 4-wheeler, maybe to haul things like bait in burlap sacs? TY so much for the info!

Hi. You are very welcome! The presence of four wheelers on the town beaches is seasonal. I moved out of the town about 14 years ago when I moved to the town of Smithtown but I still frequent the area and am familiar with the four wheel drive beach regs.

There are three specific town designated "areas";

Valid: Sore Thumb - area #1, Overlook Beach - area #2, Cedar Beach - area # 3.

From my records, the regs for each of these areas are as follows-

Area I
April I -December 31 Permit valid 24 hours

Area II
April 1 - May 11 Permit valid 24 hours
May 12 - May 23 Permit valid 7 pm -7 am
May 24- September 1 Permit valid 8 pm - 7 am
September 2 - September 7 Permit valid 7 pm - 7 am
September 8 -December 31 Permit valid 24 hours

Area III
September 15 - September 30 Permit valid 7 pm - 7 am
October 1- December 31 Permit valid 24 hours

The permits are issued by the Town of Babylon to town residents but it's also important to note that FIFTY permits are given out every year to non-residents who are members of LIBBA (Long Island Beach Buggy Association www.libba.com/) on a first-come/first-serve basis for $100 each.

The "surf rats" primarily target Striped Bass and Bluefish. Striper season runs from April 15th to Dec 15th. The Bluefish come in strong at the end of May/beginning of June and take up residence all Summer. There are hundreds of thousands of surf fisherman from all over the world who come to Long Island to fish (especially the South Shore from Jones Beach to Montauk). It's not at all unusual to hear and see four wheelers on the beach at all hours. As a matter of fact, many camp out overnight. Utility trailers, on the other hand, are rarely towed on the beach. There is no need for them for starters. I'm not much of a surf rat but from my boat I get a really good view of the beaches every trip and other than a few towable campers out on the North side of Montauk Point near Gin Beach/Shagwong Point, I've NEVER seen any sort of trailer being towed on the beaches. Makes no sense at all. Take a look at some of the photos on the LIBBA website and you might see how well the surf rats rig their trucks to make use of every possible space (including cooler racks and rod holders mounted to the front of their trucks and step vans). In order to drive safely on the beach and not get stuck, you have to deflate half of the air out of all of your tires. Pulling a utility trailer on the beach... well that's just outright stupidity.

Even the bait delivery guys don't use trailers on the highways. Pulling a trailer slows you down, makes you less maneuverable, and gives you another axle, and set of wheels, hubs, tires and bearings to worry about (as well as wiring that always seems to fail). I've seen lots of burlap bags around the fishing world but mainly concentrated in three places-

  1. By commercial fisherman who drag the waters outside the ocean beaches for Skimmer Clams (one of the MOST POPULAR baits used around here for bottom fishing for sea bass, porgies, flounder, codfish, etc...). The commercial suppliers (There are some on the Nautical Mile in Freeport for instance) use the burlap bags to transport large quantities of skimmer clams that are "unshucked" still in their shell) to party boats and charter boats. Anyone working for one of them would have access to these bags.
  2. By commercial suppliers of Green Crabs (the most popular bait for blackfish or "tautog"). Blackfish season is from September to the end of May. The suppliers sell green crabs to party boats as well as bait and tackle shops and I've seen them sold all the time in the burlap bags because they allow the crabs to breath but keep them from snipping fingers with their claws.
  3. The only other place I've seen burlap bags used with regularity has been on some of the party boats who sell them for a dollar or two a piece for fisherman who did not bring buckets or coolers so they can keep their catch.
