I don't think SG's family is lying about that phone call. Why would they? And I think they claim it happened b4 they got anyone to listen about SG missing. Phone records (incoming) should prove that either way.
Why does LE say that JB and PH are not suspects? I read that JB took a lie detector and the results were inconclusive. Leaks have surmised that PH is a viable suspect because of the location and his connection to EMS.
It's very hard to find info on these two...probably much of it was removed in December.
Unfortunately, I belive the SC LE may have lost the info about the phone call...just like they lost her jacket? Not sure if that is confirmed...about the jacket.
I heard SG's sister say that they found her earring at the house of JB when they went to see for themselves where she had been. (Tx to the poster who provided the link to the sister's radio interview), in the same interview she spoke of the phone call from the "Dr."
They are both good suspects IMO.

Yes, the other thing could be If someone close to me went missing and I felt I wasn't getting the right attention I would say just about anything to get LE on it. I do not think that is the case here. I heard the Sister say she was right next to her mother when the call came in. I believe her.

Hi, Righteous1. To me, the issue is that a call came in or where sister was standing when it came in, but what was said on the phone to the mother. The police (and they're not all detectives, which is what Dormer based his statement on) might have thought that Ms. Gilbert's account was inconsistent and confusing. If I had a daughter and she went missing and I got a phone call; I'm not certain that I would remember that call with exact clarity either.

Once LE can confirm a call they can go back and see how that call was made. If it was a Cell Phone they can find the tower or last Cell site. Land line, same. VOIP which is Internet cable, all can be traced to the origin. Everything is digital today it all leaves a signature. It's very hard not to tracked, even with your phone powered down if the battery is in it is possible. If the girls who were found had a Cell phone on them, everyone does today the last location they were at is now known.

This is the call that came in before SG was even missing as per her Family?

Interesting. I will say this, the sister has confused me since the beginning regarding this phone call and what was actual said.
Hopefully the LE didn't drop the ball. The call is a pretty big deal, don't you think?

Yes. Not responding to Shannan's call in a timely manner was a big deal.
And not having a record of SB's sister telling detectives about this phone call is a big deal.

I don't want to dismiss the Gilberts...the only thing I can imagine is that someone called and said they were " a doctor, who was treating shannan" and that because they met a doctor there who claimed to see shannan...they assumed he was the Doctor who called..

If he did call, there should be a record...I beleive that if a doctor called and said he had treated shannan, then he should be findable... I wonder if they can run medical records to see if she was treated anywhere in that time frame and by who.

I don't think she was in treatment.

and if it was in fact the neighbor, they need to locate that call.

LE never uses the word "suspect" publicly anymore. I don't put any weight into the "he's not a suspect" comments.
I can't believe LE is saying they haven't heard of this call. I hope it's just bad reporting, because really, that's uncalled for on Le's part.

As I understand it, the call came to the family the day after the 911 call and long before any information was released to the media. In other words, only those with LE connections or a scanner would know about, except the killer.

Hi, Epiphany. But Shannan's sister didn't take the call; her mother did. And the family do provide differing accounts: They heard the 911 tape; they didn't hear the 911 tape. One account includes a truck; the other does not.

Backpage replaces Craigslist as prostitution-ad leader

Village Voice Media, with its Backpage.com classifieds site, is the new leader in prostitution advertising now that Craigslist has eliminated its erotic services ad section in the United States.

“There are clear signs that some revenue and listings are migrating to Backpage and to other sites that specialize in prostitution advertising,” said Mark A. Whittaker, an AIM Group consultant who worked on the report. “It doesn’t seem likely that alternative sites will be able to absorb all of the money that had been spent with Craigslist.”

Exactly! I hope they catch this maniac before anyone else has to go through the horrible agony of losing their daughter/sister/grand daughter like the previous victims' families have. But if the killer does strike again soon, my money is on the fact that he more than likely will swipe his next victim from the local listings on backpage; Just take a look (without any of your children or your boss/co-workers looking over your shoulder at your monitor and you will see all of the potential victims listed right here-

As you can see, SK or no SK on the loose, it doesn't stop the world's oldest profession.

I mean if Mrs. Gilbert told police that a doctor called and said Shannan spent the night with him...thats a pretty important FREAKING PHONECALL!!!

don't you think?

Hmmm... until now, I was convinced that the person who killed SG was most certainly one of the men she "partied" with that evening, because the idea that she just happened to randomly run into a serial killer seemed too coincidental -- but we KNOW the SK, whoever he is, has spent an awful lot of time roaming along that highway, probably in the wee hours of the morning, burying bodies and scouting out locations.

What would a SK do if he was interrupted while dumping a body? Kill the interrupter and get out of there, and bury her somewhere else.

The longer I look at this case, the less I'm sure of!

Yes, Righteous1, but that call was received after the family knew that Shannan had disappeared, not before as you originally stated.

And LE is stating they no nothing of the call the family says was the DR?

I wonder which LE they called with the information. If they talked to the New Jersey LE who took the missing persons report, it doesn't surprise me at all that the information never made it to Long Island.

I'm still going with Captree party boat mate. Just my GUT

Very good possibility. If that's the case, then SCPD are making a huge mistake by not expanding the search area to include the areas along the causeways as well as an area known as "Captree Island" (the land between the twin Robert Moses Causeway bridges on the mainland and the Captree draw bridge).

The way I have interpreted events is when we started following this case, the mother still had not heard the 911 call, just what LE told her about the call. She said it was 3 months before they found the call. Now she says they finally let her hear the call.

LE should be able to still go back and see if a call came into Shannon's mom or not.
