What if the SK's MO was to operate/dump off expressways or parkways - instead of the "water" connect? In searching, I'm finding many bodies dumped over the years close to "expressways." That's what we call them out here in Cali.

Sheesh, I don't know - this case is driving me crazy - crazy obssessed! LE in Manorville won't comment so as not to jeopardize the LI beach investigation. Interesting...

Also, I think I read somewhere that JB had a "black" suv (besides the white one which they searched)...I'll see if I can find that...

The bath houses are only open when the beach is open. The buildings there are, first aid, snack bars, lifeguard houses, and ample bathrooms with shower's and changing rooms. Plenty of buildings!

I'm not sure if you are aware but Robert Moses is the beginning of Fire Island. You can get over the causeway bridge via Ocean Parkway and Captree. Once over the bridge if you travel to the right....you would go down aways before a loop which will take you back. I looked on Google Earth and it creeps me out. There is no question things can be dumped there, as it is really quiet. I'm not sure if the causeway bridge has camera's, but I certainly hope they do.
To the left of the bridge is a Coast Guard station and a lighthouse.

I have Sprint I don't need a PIN. It is in the setup with Sprint you can have it so you need to enter a PIN or not.

I have never had a phone that you did not need the pin # for vm.

Maybe it's different by carrier? In my family we all have T-Mobile and we don't use PIN#'s to access voice mail from our actual phones. We either dial "123 SEND" or click on the "check Voice Mail" icon and the phone connects right to VM from the phone without entering an actual PIN #.

Interesting stuff about the phone and VM. I've always needed to key in my PIN with Verizon. I still believe if the perp had BM's phone and was making harassing calls, he would check the voice mail to find out who was "interested" if he could. On the day BM "disappeared", I don't see why the perp would check. It would be in the days following her abduction when worried people would be trying to get hold of her that would interest him... Since he apparently didn't (do we know for sure?) my guess is he didn't have the PIN. I think it extremely likely that MB made the VM call from the site of the "date".

The subject of cell phones brings up an interesting point. I would think they are vital "tools of the trade" for any escort but we haven't heard of any other phone records. It is my understanding that as long as a phone is on, it will "ping" every second or so and these "pings" can be traced. I am aware that the records of "pings" are harder to obtain and may not be retained as long as "call" records but I would expect the records to available for the two 2010 victims. I wonder if he asked the girls to "turn off their phones".

From the discussion of the Meredith Kercher case, I learned that the Cell Company can tell not only the tower that a given call went through, but what "nearby" towers also received a weaker signal and from that, they can triangulate and narrow the area of origin to a just a few blocks. I wonder if this information was obtained

Possibly, you can see a black SUV in this interview he did with the press. ( link )

That's what scares me, the fact they only found the other bodies cause they were doing a training exercise, 7-8 months later after SG went missing! Just looking at the map of LI's south shore freaks me out now. BUT, Ocean Parkway is very desolate at night and is accessible from both east and west sides of the island. Robert Moses Beaches are only accessible via Robert Moses Bridge.

:waitasec:

"Training excercise" is kind of a misnomer in this case. Officer Mallia and his dog were specifically in the area to look for clues into the disappearance of Shannon Gilbert. They searched the gated community first (over the summer), then months later, started searching along the side of the road because FBI stats say that is where most serial killers dump the bodies of their victims. So it wasn't just chance that lead Mallia to the bodies of the other women.

I believe that video of JB was taken outside his mother's house in Islip. We have no idea who it might belong to. Even if we knew it belonged to JB, which we don't, MANY people own black SUV's. Wouldn't surprise me if GC, PH, SG's driver, or any one of the neighbors owned one. Just saying.

This is O/T but I need help please...

Often, when I try to post a reply the site tells me that I'm not logged in so I can't post (I WAS logged in!) When I log in AGAIN, my post has disappeared (never was able to post it, KWIM?). Does anyone know how I can correct this. Do I need to type faster, because there's a time limit?
My posts have been sloppy and somewhat short because I have to re-type them QUICKLY! ...Help please...Tx!

The board used to do that to me all the time. It's a hiccup. Log out and when you log back in, check the tab that says "remember me" or something like that. See if that helps.

You may have timed out. It happens to me if I take too long with composing my post. If you plan to post a long thought, either type it in word and then cut and paste it over to the site when its complete, or do like I have learned to do, copy your post and then hit submit. That way, if you have timed out and you need to log in again, you can just paste your post back ino the reply box and hit submit. wahla, problem solved. Don't get frustrated, it used to happen to me all the time.

I decided it meant I was long winded, or spent too much time editting my thoughts, lol. BTW - belated welcome to Websleuths :)

Hi Stranger! :seeya:

I don't know why checking the remember me box worked for me, but I haven't timed out once since I did it. I can start a post, walk away for 20 minutes, come back, hit send...no problem.

wow, I have never even noticed a remember feature, lol. Here since 09 and still learning the ropes

howy do Ms.MK, been missing you lately, hope you are well.

So any new developments on this one today (plan to read the last few pages but thought I could get a quicky update on whether there have been any new breaking things in the investigation)

Sleuth out your own updates, Lazy. :floorlaugh:

Nothing. Just a water search down on the beach. It finished up about midday. Nothing recovered.

ETA: This case is starting to get on my nerves. I've sleuthed every angle I can think of, now I'm grasping at random name searches in the hope I'll find something relevant. I know more about Long Island UGer's than I ever cared to know. And far far more than I need to know for purposes of this case. ;)

"Suffolk County police divers searched the waters off Oak Beach...

A police spokeswoman said the divers did not report finding any evidence and it was unclear if they would return Thursday.

Police are still searching for Gilbert. Forensics experts are still working to identify the new remains.

FBI aircraft had taken high-resolution images of the 17-mile-long island to help police scour the thick underbrush. Officials have said those images will take about two weeks to examine."
