maybe the burlap sacks were not as visible at that time of year??
were any of the burlap sacks found from an above ground search?
Also there would have only been one body in burlap from 2007. the others were '09, and 2 in '10.

I'm surprised you didn't get your head bitten off for quoting the NY Post. I did on the last thread and was told it wasn't a reliable source. Thanks anyway for posting it.:banghead:
I can't tell if they mean the same area that they searched in 2007 or they mean the same area that she was found.
I don't see why they would send cadaver dogs etc...to OP when her calls were traced to Massapequa unless they had some other information to go on.
I reread and I guess the do mean OP. It seems weird that a year after she disappeared they would send cadaver dogs and helicopters to OP unless they had something to go on.
Is there another story? I didn't see any mention of their ages or anything about Midtown."Two NYPD cops are being eyed in the Long Island serial slayings after investigators learned they got into trouble for hiring prostitutes while working for the department, according to sources familiar with the probe.
One cop was forced out of the job in the 1990s when his supervisors learned he spent time pursuing hookers and paying street walkers and down-and-out women for sex while he was supposed to be on patrol.
An internal investigation led to his resigning under pressure, one source said.
The other officer still works for the NYPD but was stripped of his gun and badge years ago because he allegedly assaulted a prostitute and got arrested during a sting operation. "
The one still working in the Midtown location is of great interest, being that the calls to family members came from that area. The age of these two guys fits, their experience both with prostitutes and with law enforcement, their history of beatings and abuse, etc.
I think we've got some live ones here!
Thank you NY POST for not being afraid to tell the public what we need to know. If these guys are under surveillance, who knows how many girls' lives have been saved?
Pinkhammer...remind me again how JB tried to help Shannan Gilbert?

I read that Maureen Brainard-Barnes, Norwich CT was a card dealer...does anyone know where? Was it Foxwoods in CT? If yes, I bet that's a connection. Interesting that a Long Islander has two options when they want to gamble - Atlantic City and CT (Foxwoods.) Hmmmm...the Norwich Spa is connected to Foxwoods.
This article has been linked a couple of times in the forum & it keeps giving me pause about Brainard-Barnes....

Canns sister, Maureen Brainard-Barnes, had gone missing from her Manhattan hotel room nearly three years earlier, in July 2007. Police had subsequently linked her phone activity to a cell phone tower on Long Island. In 2008, police helicopters and cadaver dogs had scoured the same marshy, desolate area, but found no signs of Brainard-Barnes, a sweet-faced brunette with a passion for poetry.
this is leading me to believe that the killer possibly kept her remains somewhere else for quite some time....
I must have missed something. What is the connection to pitbulls?
according to this article Remy from the tattoo is a person http://webcache.googleusercontent.c...=14&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=us&source=www.google.com
and the Remy from the pitbull website was a pitbull http://www.remyline.com/#!about who may or may not have even been born when JT was killed

ITA MK ... a red herring maybe?
ETA: Wow ... only 2 NYPD cavorting with prostitutes since 1990? Gotta be a record for any PD
Hi, Roosevelt; thanks. I think that you bring up an important point. Thanks to media short hand, the serial murders and Shannan Gilbert's disappearance now all seem permanently placed under the rubric of Craigslist killings. While it's true that all the young victims advertised on Craigslist (as did numerous other sex workers), they sought clients and established relationships wherever possible.
Added Newsday link. - after I wrote the post.

Hi Dcgrumpy, there was discussion on the last thread about dead pit bulls and decapitated chickens found in Manorville.
http://www.nypost.com/p/news/regional/item_8tdTSYY1ZsMyC91641AmHM
It seems like a possible connection, because JT's tattoo said Remy's Angel. The above article said the dogs were mutilated. Remy's group does not seem like they would kill or mutilate pit bulls. Maybe they have enemies. I think this line of thought would seem like the GB4 and Manorville aren't related. But who knows.....a lot of coincidences.
Oh, and the article is from the NY Post.
One thing I am baffled about is why LE waited a couple of hours to send dogs and helicopters to look for SG knowing that MBB went missing in 2007. According to this story, the following year (2008) LE sent the helicopters and cadaver dogs to the same area. Why didn't this raise a red flag? It would seem this was more than a coincidence to even the most casual observer. One would have thought when they realized where SG was, they would have sent in all their reinforcements to find her. The search of the area couldn't have been too thorough for SG's sister to find her earring later on.
But that group didn't even exist when JT was killed
Just unbelievable how negligent they were.I remember reading a report stating that according to SG's family, SCPD never took SG's disappearance seriously. SG's family had to hire a private investigator and sought help from a NYPD (i believe) detective to get SCPD to take the case seriously.
It was almost a year later, after the bodies were accidentally discovered that the case was taken seriously, otherwise we probably wouldn't even be talking about it right now.
