I wouldn't be surprised if the burlap sacs are just to throw everyone off.

He has purposely not left any other evidence to help identify these women, so I seriously doubt that he would put them into something that could lead to his identity.

Initially I thought the bodies were "wrapped" in burlap. This guy could work for a nursery up on Rt 231 in Dix Hills or out east. I think they use sheets of burlap (not bags) to wrap the root balls of trees. I think NG may be speculating that they are burlap bags. But I always thought that they were burlap sheets based on the description of being "wrapped in burlap" from initial reports.

PS - Incidentally, there are alot of tree nurseries in Manorville, where some of the other bodies have been found. But those bodies were not wrapped in burlap, if I remember correct.

Out of interest:

"Albert Fish was a serial killer living on Long Island...known as the original Hannibal Lector. "

This was in the comment section of Chemcopout's link.

The fact he is removing all clothing and ID's says to me that his DNA is on file for something somewhere. If I was looking for someone I would start with felons and move toward Military.

Also water preserves evidence and he wouldnt be in control . Does burlap decomposition release a chemical upon break down that may aid or hinder a certain process ?

Does this Island have a specific game and fishery person?

Maybe Local LE isn't equipped to deal with a Case of this size.

Probably, but I can't imagine them not working in laison with the FBI. This seems like a FBI textbook SK case to me IMO.

I think SCPD is in way over their heads! How did they not find those bodies? Especially since SG went missing in Oak Beach. Logically, they would have found those bodies first and then found the bodies further west. And when they did their exhaustive searches in December, how did they not find those bodies? Did they not search that area back then?

Chemicals in Burlap

It says burlap can have chemicals applied like copper sulfate and fungasides/pesticides.

Were they covered in snow?

The cold/bad weather is the only thing I can think of as to why it took so long to find these bodies.

Lifted, They may have been covered in snow when they searched that area. We did get hammered with snow this year.

Could the bones have been placed in the burlap more recent then the victim was murdered?

Maybe say someone is taunting them and placing the burlap there after the search for SG on purpose.

That would be way weird and I dont believe the first 4 were not already there. I just have to wonder, as you are how they missed the other 5 woman.

I hope this doesnt turn into a pickton case.

One thing I don't get. I can go back years on my Cell phone bill, online and see what numbers I dialed who called me and what time. These girls had Phones with numbers that their families knew. All the Tech stuff the Government has today, something doesn't seem right about this.

Thanks for verifying that, chemcopout. This makes me feel that the guy is someone local. And/or attached to the fishing industry....

This would be pretty difficult but what if he comes up from the beach/water, not down from the road?

ETA burlap would help with transporting (dragging...sorry) and would be readily available. Because it would be readily available no one would notice it missing. Do you ever notice anything like trash bags or leaf litter bags going missing?

Righteous1, That is so true. Something just doesn't make sense. How do they not know who called Megan Waterman before she went missing from that hotel room in Hauppauge? Even if the guy had a pay-as-you-go cell phone, you can still track where it was purchased and then go back to the video tape to get an ID. Something certainly doesn't add up!

Do we know which actual road the bodies were found next to? There are a couple of smaller roads I see on the map:

http://longisland.citysearch.com/profile/map/7478553/oak_beach_ny/outer_beach_marine_inc.html

I'm thinking of the direction the killer would be coming from to make it natural for him to dump the bodies where he did.

ETA: Found my answer: The westbound lane of Ocean Parkway from Captree Bridge to the Nassau County border was closed for the search.

ETA 2: I found this article which really helped me, having never been to LI: http://abclocal.go.com/wabc/story?section=news/local/long_island&id=7999337

Snippet
"Detectives believe the crimes happened in the middle of the night. That the killer chose the same, desolate location, pulling-onto the shoulder of the westbound lanes, dragging the body out of his vehicle and dumping it no more than 25 feet off the roadside".

That is why Pat Brown must think the perp lives in Oak Beach. He would dump off the N side of Hwy and not walk across the westbound lanes IMO

You know the Feds can turn your Cell phone into a Microphone and listen to anything in the phones area, without turning the Phone on. No Power, no lights
pretty amazing stuff can be done today. And this is what we know can be done imagine what we don't know.

Hi ;} Why put the bodies in a burlap bag?
On NG they said the bags are a bit less than waist high to a normal person. The TH also said the bags are seemingly small, leaving one to wonder how he could get a body into it. Yet he did. <snip>

BBM

Ease of disposal would be my guess. According to Rupa Mikkilineni on NG tonight, a petite (around 100 lbs) woman could easily fit in the bag; especially if the body was bent at the waist. Rupa held up a sample burlap bag, and it came to her waist. She stated she was 5'5" and 100lbs, and could easily fit in the bag.

I lost my post.

he could be to young,

But I want to noted them any way.

I wish we knew how long the victims had been there.

I wonder if they were already decomposing when they were placed in the burlap or if they were dismembered? My husband suggested that the bodies could have all been dumped at the same time, meaning the bodies were kept somewhere for awhile and then placed on the beach. But where? A cold storage? If there was decomposition elsewhere, it would signal because of the smell. What about a place that already smells? A fish market or packaging place? I'm not sure if any of this is feasible but it made me think.
