Hi Chemcopout, Do you have a link to that recounting by the neighbor?

I snipped from your post: " . . does anyone remember jb's neighbor's recount about how he was outside with a friend at 2am putting something into a uhaul truck with only a tiny light on?"

Is JB's neighbor the 76 yr old man, Mr C. Ta

Is JB's neighbor the 76 yr old man, Mr O {Olevetti ???} Ta

Yeah, I would like to read that story as well.

Okay, and this long article http://www.nj.com/hudson/index.ssf/2010/12/boyfriend_and_the_driver_of_sh.html says the boyfriend and the driver are two different people. It gives the boyfriend's name. Also, there's nothing about Fire Island or Jones Beach.

The New York driver, who requested his name not be used, said he dropped off Gilbert to the home of a client in Oak Beach at about 2 a.m. on May 1. Gilbert's price: $250 an hour, the driver said.

He said he spent three hours in his SUV outside the gated community, playing poker over the Internet and sleeping, when Gilbert's client phoned him at about 5 a.m., saying Gilbert was refusing to leave the house.

The driver said he drove back to the client's house and found Gilbert, who was clothed, in the living room on the phone with a 911 operator, saying that a man was after her.

"I said 'Shannon, Get a grip. Let's go,' and she said, 'You guys are trying to kill me.' So I said, 'OK, I am leaving.' But then she said, 'Don't go.'"

Gilbert eventually ran from the house, the driver said. The driver said he ran after Gilbert, who is bipolar and has a history of cocaine abuse, but then lost track.

The name "Babylon" is interesting symbolically, considering the role of prostitution in this case and the possible "mortification of the flesh" connotation of the burlap. I'll see what else I can find about it.

Along a similar vein of thought, it is a Christian tradition to bury people with the body facing the east. It has to do with the return of Christ. So IF these bodies have their faces pointing easterly also, then I believe it is a religious symbol.

So who was the guy in the SUV looking for her?

Was that her driver? Was that her pimp? Or was it her john?

Or was it none of the above?

I'm sure not I've seen that clarified yet.

I'm totally confused now. I found a link which I posted here before that she was headed to a house on Fire Island for a 'date'. Suddenly it became JT's house and he lives in Oak Beach in the gated community.

Maybe the driver did initially drop her off at a home in Fire Island, and there was a party there, and she somehow relocated from the party to JB's house in Oak Beach? For some reason, it just sort of feels right that there might be two people involved in this case.... I have even considered some guy and his girl friend. I found the article where JB's neighbor saw him and "another man" loading a U-Haul with poor lighting. Maybe that is where the idea of two people possibly being involved came from.

"It's unclear if police hunting for a possible serial killer consider the man Gilbert visited a suspect. A resident of the beachfront community described him as an oddball.
"That guy always gave me the creeps," the neighbor said. "One night about two months ago, he parked a U-Haul van on the side of the house. It was the strangest thing," the neighbor added.
"He and another man were packing the truck up in the dark. They moved real fast. It took about fifteen minutes. They didn't turn any lights on except one little light. That was the last time I saw him."

Law enforcement investigating four bodies found on the beach swarmed a house in Long Island where prostitute Shannon Gilbert was last seen.

The missing prostitute, Shannon Gilbert, 24, showed up at the home in May and was seen fleeing in a panic.

Neighbor GC, 75, said Gilbert was bug-eyed high when she pounded on his door, begging for help.

"She was just screaming at the top of her lungs and banging on the door," he told The News.

"When I opened the door, she almost fell into the house. I said, 'What is the matter?' She just looked at me and started screaming.

This is the article that mentions the prostitute who is missing was being driven to meet a client on Fire Island. I guess her driver took a wrong turn to Oak Beach, maybe made an improper pass at her, she got real scared, jumped out of his alt. sports vehicle and ran up to that house in the photo with the dock. I think her name is Shannan. Just supposition, trying to piece it together and IMO:

http://www.longislandpress.com/2010/12/13/2-bodies-found-in-oak-beach-in-3-days/

" . . . . The woman was last heard from when she was driven to Long Island by a man to meet a client on Fire Island, another barrier island just east of Oak Beach, according to a police spokesman."

Ng gets it wrong again.

"The man who drove the missing 24-year-old Jersey City prostitute to her client in Oak Beach, Long Island on May 1 -- the day she went missing -- said today she was "delirious" and "irrational" when she made a 23-minute 911 call from the john's house.
Another man, the boyfriend of Shannon Maria Gilbert, told The Jersey Journal today that he initially thought Gilbert, of Christopher Columbus Drive in Jersey City, had left him when she didn't return home....On May 3, the boyfriend and the driver returned to Oak Beach in search of Gilbert and checked local beaches and area hospitals, according to the driver."

http://www.nj.com/hudson/index.ssf/2010/12/boyfriend_and_the_driver_of_sh.html

The boyfriend and the driver are two different people.

This is what I had saved about SG driver.

Shannon Maria Gilbert, was last seen by her "driver'' in the beach town acting "delirious" and running away, according to the missing persons report filed in May.

"She was visiting a 'client' whom she met through Craigslist and ... refused to leave the 'client's' residence.

Gilbert, who police describe as a prostitute, had arranged to meet a client on Fire Island and drove there with her boyfriend.

The boyfriend, who police believe was also her pimp, told cops he last saw her on May 1 at 6 a.m.

snipped by me

Maybe NG meant Fire island. I hate when she makes mistakes like those. Whole different place, nancy.

I don't understand how they 'cleared' the guy already. He apparently made an appt with the missing escort. She ran from his home un sheer terror calling 911 and knocking on doors before disappearing forever.
So, did she just run into a 'killer' after running from this customers house?

And this guy just happened to live a few hundred feet away from a killing field?

IDK.

I don't know. It is also entirely possible that Shannan is totally unrelated to the serial killer and it is a "domestic" situation with her driver/pimp/boyfriend. That really makes more sense to me than any other scenario.

However, it has been said that Joe (the man who hired her that night) has been fully cooperative and has taken a polygraph. I know he did move, but that wasn't suspicious. After everything that happened I can't blame him. I am guessing his neighbors weren't real friendly.

Perhaps the results of the polygraph have something to do with why they feel he didn't do anything? LE seems to use them pretty frequently. Not that it means he is innocent, just that LE might perceive it that way if he passed. Gary Ridgeway passed a polygraph after victim #1 and that's how he got away with it for so long.

The Long Island serial killer has gotten away with 8 murders, at least. We do not know who those women were meeting before they were murdered. A huge part of the reason he hasn't been caught.

Shannan's driver knew the house, the name and talked to the man. That is a completely different situation than the other 8 victims.

Even if he WAS the killer I don't think he would have risked getting caught by killing Shannan at that point. Once he realized everyone knew who he was.

I don't think we KNOW the true story of the night Shannan disappeared.

However, there are people with police scanners.

Those people would also know the area.

Those people could have easily HEARD Shannan's call and got there in far less than 45 minutes. Victim of opportunity... so different circumstances than the other 8.

So yes... she could have just run into a killer while running away from someone else. If there is a guy in this small area who has already killed 8 women, it isn't too hard for me to believe he might have been in the area when Shannan was running away. Given the time of night it was, he may have been dumping a body and then spotted her.

Im trying to find the article where neighbor, GC, stated he saw a Asian male drive up and was looking for her.

In the beginning the press, NG, etc got it wrong. They were saying Fire Island but its really West Babylon. LOL

Yeah, I would like to read that story as well.

My goodness, sakes alive, this case is like it just walked off the TV screen. Amazing, eh?

Now we have the intrigue of 2 men messing around with a trailer having almost light to see what they are doing, under possible shades of doing no good, and I can imagine this upper crust prostitute thinking she sees a dead body or SS being lifted in or out of that trailer, well of course she would go basurk and not want to leave the house. One could conjur up all kinds of possibilities even working within the paramaters that we have with knowledge in this case. She ran from JT's screaming they're going to kill me.

Could it be one SK with an accomplice? I saw a Criminal Minds show like that - couple of them actually.

Thanks Trigger, you're a peach ;} Just getting the players straight now is my main task for the night. LOL LOL

I can't imagine that JB would have let her call 911 for 23 minutes from his house if he was involved in any way.

But stranger things have happened...

I read it here yesterday. Back on pages 20 -23 maybe. Later I'll see if I can find it. xox

maybe burlap was used because
A- it was readily available. and
B- it may be harder to "match" than plastic garbage bags?
IDK - many cases have been solved from forensics with them.

Is he dumping bodies or bags of bones? I could see where carrying bones in burlap could be easier and not set off any red flags in that area.
MOO

Has any profiler suggested that he may have a military background? The 23 min 911 response also makes me question if he was perhaps in LE at the time. I wonder if LE had anyone resign shortly after Shannen disappeared.

this is very interesting, from the link above

"Police said the first 911 call made by Gilbert was placed from the house of Joseph Brewer, 46, who was her contact through Craigslist. Police have since eliminated Brewer as a suspect."

if brewer is cleared as a suspect, then the reason that shannon didn't want to leave his house is because of the asian in the suv out there. she really feared for her life...

her family should sue, it took 45 minutes for police to get to her, when she was calling 911 and at least on the phone with 911 for 21 minutes!

what is more disturbing is this:

"A couple of weeks after her disappearance, Gilbert's sisters, Sarra and Sherre Gilbert, traveled from upstate Ellenville to investigate on their own. They talked to Brewer and neighbors, walked along the roads and even found one of Gilbert's earrings."

shannon's sisters are the ones to find one of her earrings??? why didn't le find this?

was the truck/suv that shannon got pulled into before le could get there the same one the neighbor seen with the asian?

Ok. Long Island is comprised of Long Island and various smaller barrier islands. Theres more then I can name. Gilgo, Oak Beach and Captree are all on whats known as Jones Beach Island.

Fire Island is a separate island/beach.

And West Babylon might be what comes up with a zip code or area search but WB is on the main island.

I'm beginning to believe Shannon is not connected to the discovered bodies, other than her disappearance caused a search. In all honesty, it sounds to me like perhaps Shannon was having a bad drug trip or a manic episode, or a psychotic break, etc...that night. She may be deceased but then again she may not be. If she did have a psychotic break she could be living anywhere. Drugs can cause paranoia which may explain her actions, maybe she later overdosed,,,,but I just don't think a killer was after her at that moment at the john's house, unless it was the driver and something set her off/alarmed her about him. We don't know what phone calls or texts she may have gotten from friends while at the john's house which may have caused her fear.

What we know happened (based on witness accounts which may or may not be true but assuming they are) is that at 5am she wouldn't leave the john's house so he calls her driver (she's been working since 2am and makes $250 hr so she's already made $750 and I imagine the john is ready for her to leave and definitely doesn't want to pay for more time) , driver arrives and finds her hysterical and afraid for her life, she tells him to leave then to stay and at some point she then runs from the john's home to another house but when the man at the second home opens his door and offers to call police she runs off again. That doesn't make sense. She had already called LE herself, why would she run away from an offer of help unless what she wanted was admittance to the house and he refused, we don't know about that part. And quit frankly if a hysterical stranger showed up at my house at 5am banging on the door I wouldn't let them in either unless I had my Ruger handy. Anyway, the man at the second residence says an Asian man drives by and asks about Shannon---since Shannon's driver asked to not be named when interviewed, I'm thinking that the Asian man IS the driver---I mean how many people can there be in this story. So far we have the boyfriend, the john (jb), the driver, the man at the second house, and Shannon. It is strange that the Asian said "you shouldn't have done that" when told the police had been called, but none of this makes sense.

Now IF IF IF any of these witnesses are lying, I'm betting on the driver. We know she ran away from the john's house because she awoke the man at the second house, what we don't know is what happened after that, other than the driver claims to have searched until 6am and then left. He said he thought she'd find her own way home and apparently wasn't concerned enough to make sure she did so that is suspicious. Could it be that the reason Shannon was confused as to her location when calling 911 is because the driver lied to her about where she was at some point? Or was she confused by drugs? Or if she was with the john at point A earlier and then went to his home he may have lied about the location. Something has to explain why Shannon didn't know where she was and therefore why LE couldn't arrive during her long 911 call.

Sorry for such a long post...........

Just MOO

The article link below states that Shannon did gain entry into a house after leaving JB's, that she was incoherent, and fell halfway down the stairs and ran when told LE had been called. Strange

I think you might be onto something with your DOT worker theory, I was wondering if it was a game or wildlife preservation person.

I think in our minds sometimes we like to believe that serial killers must be freaky looking and unable to fit in with society but really in many cases we have seen that is just not the case.

A lot of them are very unassuming fitting in with their area surroundings and community.

Now some of them of course are misfits and loners.

Their main goal other than killing is to go without detection and for a long time it works and that is the reason they are able to kill multiple people before they finally are caught.........if they ever are.

The FBI states the US has about 50 serial killers every year. It takes many years to finally catch them.

Also this particular killer may be have moved on too with isn't uncommon either. Not all are like Ridgeway or BTK. A lot of them will kill a few and then move to another town or state to do it all over again. Or after the search for Shannon began he has picked him another disposal site.

He really could be anyone.

I have read that the FBI profilers say most serial killers were grossly abused by their mothers as a child and the mother may have looked like the victims at that age. He displaces his hatred and rage for his mother onto these women that may remind him of her. The mothers are often domineering, cruel, highly promiscuous or even had been prostitutes themselves and exposed the serial killer to that growing up.

While serial killers are some of the worst on earth it is fascinating to read why the profilers believe they turned out that way.

I think this particular killer puts them there when the grass and brush is always tall and treacherous terrain. It would not surprise me though if he returns to look at the bodies that he has placed there. Serial killers seem to have some sick obessive connection with the victim's dead bodies.

I sure hope this is not one of those cases that goes unsolved. They need to be checking all over the country to see if how he left the bodies displayed in this case is like any other unsolved cases in other states that have multiple similar murders that have remained unsolved. Most of the time they will stick to the one MO they like but not always.

IMO
