Niagara Falls firefighters assisted New York State Parks Police with a body recovery in the Niagara Gorge on Saturday afternoon.

Firefighters were dispatched to the scene around 12:22 p.m. after Parks Police were alerted to the body floating in the lower Niagara River.

The body was located in an area between Whirlpool State Park and the Whirlpool Bridge. The body was recovered from the water and carried to the top of the gorge by firefighters and park police officers.

What about Karan Patel? He was last seen in Niagara Falls, ON on January 3 at approx. 12:30 PM. Karan was feeling despondent at the time he went missing. His height is off by 1" (5'10 vs 5'11 for UP124220). Weight is a little bit off (172 lbs. at the time of disappearance vs 158 lbs. for UP124220) but there have been greater discrepancies. Race is listed as East Indian (UP124220 could either be Hispanic, Asian, American Indian/Alaska Native though could also be unsure or a mix of the above). I know Mohan Vellanki (RIP) was originally listed as American Indian before he was ultimately identified and there was an indian newspaper article in his listing before it was taken down. Age fits in as well (25 for Karan vs 20-50 for UP124220).
