Found Deceased NY - Nickolas Donnelly, 14, Shoreham, 4 October 2016

Nickolas Donnelly, 14, vanished Tuesday morning after leaving his Shoreham home to go out for a run. He was not carrying a phone or his ID.

His body was found just before 8 a.m. Wednesday in a wooded area near Royal Way, about a mile from his home, police said.

I wonder if it could have been something unexpected? Like a heart condition. Whatever the cause, it is heartbreaking and I wish Nickolas and his family peace.

Very sad day in the SWR community. Fourteen is so young. He had his whole life ahead of him.

Praying for his family. I can't imagine what they are going through. Rest In Peace kiddo.

I don't live too far from him. I think there is school today. The schools were off Mon. and Tues. for them. Maybe Shoreham is different. I hope he's found soon. I will look to see if there are any searches. I will gladly volunteer.

After reading the article, I have more faith/hope that this was not a suicide, but a medical event. I hope so, for the family's sake.

I don't think they will be releasing the reason in MSM for the family's privacy.

Oh gosh, that's just so awful . So scary how there can be no warning. I have a 14 year old boy and this terrifies me .

Yes it unfortunately was a suicide. I wasn't sure if I was allowed to say or if it would be considered local rumor since it's not in MSM. My hubby called me earlier this morning almost in tears (he rarely cries) bc my stepdaughter called him devastated. So his classmates and the school staff definitely know. How do you talk to your kids about something like this? I'm at a loss.

Yes they will have grief counselors. I have my gripes about the school system but one thing I have to give them is any time a tragedy occurs they really handle it great and the community sticks together. Her and I are pretty close and talk about a lot of things but this is something I truly do not know how to approach.

I know. I have a 14 year old boy, also. It is so scary.
At that age, they are secretive and ashamed of what they are feeling. It is such a confusing time.
All we can do is be available to them, keep talking, love them and be understanding.

So true and well said. It's such an awkward age for a lot of reasons. I wish Nick knew 14 doesn't last forever.

Ay.. RIP Nickolas. So sorry you were in so much pain Same age I was when I tried to commit suicide, so hits very close to the heart.

I just heard the tragic news on a local radio station. The family must be devasted. RIP, Nickolas.

Mr. Donnelly said the family is “absolutely devastated.”

Nick was one of three boys. His brother Luke is in 11th grade and Kyle is a sixth-grader, Mr. Donnelly said.

That part just kills me. His poor family!
