[h=1]FBI, police search Troy for signs of Noel Alkaramla[/h]http://www.timesunion.com/local/article/FBI-joins-the-search-for-Troy-s-missing-Noel-6667275.php

also: wanted to point out that her name is spelled wrong in the thread title, it's "AlkaraMLa", not "AlkaraLMa"

This story is local for me. I hadn't tuned in to the specifics until just recently. Let me know if you guys need anything from a local's perspective. I just caught up on the thread and noticed the newest updates haven't been shared. In my opinion of this area, this young lady has most likely met with foul play. Also - despite the link I am about to post, though it's possible there is evidence in/around the Hudson, I will suspect Noel is not in there. This area is too populated and industrial for someone to not have noticed her by now if she is.

Updated: Friday, December 4 2015, 05:46 PM EST TROY -

Missing Troy woman's stepfather in custody
"The stepfather of missing 21-year-old Noel Alkaramla was picked up by police and sent to the Rensselaer County Jail Friday — the same day divers began searching the Hudson River — but police are answering few questions regarding his arrest....."

.......But at that time, Alkaramla's mother, Debra Napoli-Oquendo, told a reporter that she was worried that Alkaramla's stepfather, Johnny Oquendo, from whom she has been separated since last year, might be involved in her daughter's disappearance. Her fear arose, she said, because Oquendo is a registered sex offender.

The article says the step father is not on the sex offender list. Why would the mother say so, if it wasn't true? Could he be a registered sex offender somewhere else? Or is the mother giving false information? I wonder what's going on.

I'm not so sure the Mom isn't just in a panic and throwing anything and everything out there trying to find her daughter. jmo. She was also pretty frantic with the plea Noel could be suicidal. Now she doesn't want any new articles shared on the missing page without her approval, accusing LE of spinning information and misconduct. Weird stuff going on here.

It is of note that the step-dad has been arrested. From a link posted earlier of an interview with Noel's girlfriend:

Sara says Noel was planning to go talk to her stepdad, who lives in the same area. But she never made it there either.

Can we please fix this thread title to reflect the actual spelling of her last name? It's AlkaraMLa, not AlkaraLMa.

OH no. The usual suspect.

I wonder the reason for going to see her stepdad ?

"Troy police arrested Oquendo on Friday on a parole violation after he could not be found for three days, sources said Monday. Oquendo was arrested for a "technical violation warrant (drug use)," according to the state Department of Corrections and Community Supervision. He is being held at the Rensselaer County Jail.

Oquendo allegedly told investigators they should look for a suitcase and then asked to speak to an attorney, the sources said.

Oquendo has worked as a butcher, the sources said.

He was convicted twice in Rensselaer County Court for felony robbery and assault, according to court records. He was released on parole in March 2014, according to state records. Oquendo previously violated parole for curfew and drug violations in November 2013, according to DOCCS records."

The picture of her girlfriend peering through the fence breaks my heart. You can see her concern. I couldn't even imagine.
