Yes so nice to find a awesome update I couldn’t find a missing thread so just made a found. It’s just amazing after a few years they found her wish we had more happy found cases

Probably children's services low key knew she was with the parents but because she should have been enrolled in Kindergarten this year and wasn't they decided to go get her - then "4 year old missing 2 years found in hidden room under stairs" is such a loaded headline the story went viral.

There is absolutely no excuse for any government agency to fail to find a missing child who is with her noncustodial parents, who live in a known location. Their home should’ve been so thoroughly searched at the beginning that there is no way authorities could miss a secret compartment under the staircase. If it was there and they didn’t find it they just didn’t look very well. Pretty irresponsible in a case of a missing child, in my opinion.

At those times, she and her mother hid in the space. The LEO finally got a warrant which allowed them to search. She has had no education and no medical care in the last two years.

Authorities are piecing together what happened to Paislee Shultis, who was found alive under a staircase. Here's what we know | CNN

I have read several articles on this. The searches they did weren't with a warrant so the police were not allowed to look at every room only the ones they were granted permission, which included bedrooms and the basement.

The other tips they had received were not able to be corroborated and not enough to grant a search warrant. This one was more recent and was able to corroborated with evidence to grant them the warrant.

She was super excited to see a McDonald's when they were taking her so they stopped and got her that. Various articles state she is in good condition, but has not been educated at all.

A Saugerties case that received nationwide attention was back in court on Wednesday. The family of a missing girl, found two years after her alleged abduction, appeared before a judge.

After a shocking disappearance in 2019, PS, 6, was found by police in February hiding under a staircase in her family’s home. Her biological parents did not have custody of her.

The girl’s mother and father, Kimberly Cooper Shultis and Kirk Shultis, Jr., were charged in the alleged abduction. Her grandfather, Kirk Shultis, Sr., was also charged.

A right to a speedy trial was invoked for all three defendants. They were charged with Custodial Interference and Endangering the Welfare of a Child. All three pleaded not guilty.

Paislee is in good health and is being cared for by her legal guardian. The case has been adjourned until November 9.

On July 13, 2019, four-year-old Paislee Shultis went missing from Tioga County. She was actually reported as missing in early 2020. At the time, investigators believed that Paislee had been abducted by her non-custodial parents, Kimberly Cooper and Kirk Shultis, Jr. They were correct.

Police repeatedly shared information on the case, hoping to find the child, and saying she might be in the Saugerties area.

It was Valentine's Day 2022 when detectives executed a search warrant on the Fawn Road home of Paislee's grandfather, Kirk Shultis Sr., speaking with Kirk Shultis, Jr., who denied knowing his daughter's whereabouts. An officer spotted a section of staircase that seemed out of place, and investigated, finding Paislee concealed in a space beneath the stairs, with her mother, Kimberly Cooper.

The girl was turned over to her legal guardian and reunited with her sister, and all three adults were charged in connection with the case.

Kirk Shultis Jr., 32, and Kirk Shultis Sr., 57, were charged with felony custodial interference and endangering the welfare of a child. Cooper was charged with Custodial Interference in the 2nd Degree and Endangering the Welfare of a Child. Cooper was also wanted on an active warrant of arrest that had been issued through Ulster County Family Court.

The Saugerties police chief told CBS6 that the family was in Spencer NY, in Tioga County, investigators believe that they came to Saugerties after losing custody of Paislee, and hid in the home on Fawn Road.

Shultis Jr. has since been arrested again, this time accused of burglary.

SAUGERTIES, N.Y. — Custody of Paislee Shultis, a young girl who was found hiding with her mother hiding beneath a staircase in her grandfather’s home in 2019, has been returned to her mother, and criminal charges against the mother — stemming from the child’s alleged abduction — have been adjourned contemplating dismissal, according to the woman’s lawyer.

Kingston attorney Carol Morgan, who represented mother Kimberly Shultis in Saugerties Town Court, said both Paislee and the girl’s older sister are once again with their mother.

“These children were happy, they are happy, they were not locked under any stairs, they are back with their mom and the rest of their extended family consisting of grandparents, aunts, uncles and many cousins, and the girls will continue to flourish with the love they deserve,” Morgan said in a statement.
