Peggy Nadell's daughter-in-law orchestrated a plot to murder her in hopes of collecting portions of $4 million marital inheritance from the 80-year-old Valley Cottage woman's estate, according to criminal complaints filed by the Clarkstown police.

When Peggy Nadell let the two women into the house, they beat the older woman and stabbed her multiple times, according to the complaints signed by Clarkstown Detective Stephen Cole-Hatchard.

The police are acting like there will be more arrests.

I think some people should learn a lesson in sleuthing from this. Suzie Nadell was completely innocent despite what people were saying about her obvious guilt.

I also think people should refrain from assuming what was in Mrs Nadell's will until they get the facts.

This case seems open and shut with the oldest motive in the book, murder for inheritance, being the cause. A wicked betrayal by a family member.

One of the early reports said Diana had an argument with Peggy over money. Diana then threatened to cut Peggy off from the children. Peggy responded by cutting Diana out of the will. I have no idea of the veracity of this report. It allegedly came from a police source.

Also, the paper said Mr Nadell specified that after Peggy died Suzie was to become the sole trustee of the estate.

An interesting scenario sets up here of Diana perhaps thinking she was either being discriminated against by Mr Nadell in the original will or was acting quickly before the son was cut-off and she would lose her potential share. Whether there's any truth to any of this I don't know but it does set up a plausible motive.

You, being the judge and jury, say the daughter is "completely innocent," but has she been cleared yet? Has Diana Nadell testified on the chain of events yet? Have all the parties involved been arrested yet? I would not close the book on this one just yet.

Yes, all the parties involved were arrested. The police have a firm evidence trail for those who were involved. That evidence excludes the other family members who the police interrogated. You should be more careful with what you post since you tend to make accusatory statements that then turn out to have no merit.

I don't think you realize you made statements saying you had enough evidence to slap handcuffs on Susan Nadell long ago. If that were done a completely innocent person would have been publicly accused and tainted with an image of guilt. Meanwhile the real perpetrators the police found evidence for and arrested would have gone undetected.

Believe it or not the police are capable of determining who would not have partnered with whom and sorting it out. Most people would be able to see Susan Nadell sitting amongst a group of friends with their "Justice For Peggy" buttons and know she was not involved. The people who were caught by the evidence did not interact with Susan Nadell. So, yes, she has been cleared as any good detective would have seen by now.

On what exact evidence would you not close the book?

Murder partner Andrea Benson agreed to turn states evidence against Diana Nadell. Benson pleaded down to 2nd degree murder in exchange for testimony against the plot's originator Diana.

Benson told Judge Kelly the whole story detailing how she was to receive $10,000 for helping murder Peggy Nadell. Mrs Nadell's daughter, Susan, ran from the court during the description unable to endure hearing how her mother's life was only worth $10,000.

Peggy Nadell slaying: Diana Nadell pleads not guilty

Diana Nadellpleaded not guilty Wednesdsay to charges she murdered her mother-in-law, Peggy Nadell, as friends and relatives of the victim packed the courtroom.

The defendant appeared before state Supreme Court Justice William Kelly in the afternoon after her transport from the Rikers Island Correctional Facility to the Rockland County Courthouse delayed her scheduled appearance into the afternoon.

Kelly set her bail at $5 million.

http://www.lohud.com/story/news/crime/2014/11/05/diana-nadell-murder-trial-venue/18553603/

Prosecutor Richard Kennison Moran has filed legal papers seeking to consolidate the charges against Nadell into one case. Her lawyers, Luis Pinichet of White Plains, and Bruce Klein of the Bronx, opposed the motion.

The defense lawyers told Kelly they plan to petition for a change of venue, citing the media coverage of the Florida mother's arrest for allegedly killing Peggy Nadell, 80, inside her Valley Cottage house early on Jan. 25.

While Kelly told the lawyers he had not made a decision on whether to try all the charges at once, he suggested a jury in the murder case could hear testimony that Diana Nadell offered money for the assassination of two witnesses – even though those actions allegedly occurred in Ulster County. He also told the defense lawyers they were up against a "great burden" of proof needed to convince him to relocate the case.

A woman who was accused of killing her 80-year-old mother-in-law to get her money pleaded guilty Friday to first-degree murder. She also admitted plotting to kill two witnesses...

Nadell will be sentenced May 12 to 23 years on the murder conviction and up to 15 years — to be served during the longer sentence — for attempted witness tampering, the district attorney said.

Diana Nadell pled guilty. Case closed. This is a sad case of a family member wanting to expedite an inheritance. In the end no one benefited and everyone suffered. This is a weird case where someone couldn't handle the thought of not being able to access a large amount of money they had never imagined in their life and took desperate measures to get it.

A certain poster owes an apology to Susanne Nadell.

Well Kudos to New York's finest and oh by the skin of her chinny chin chin, poor Susanne could have been behind bars for life if the sister in law was a smart criminal, I suspect other killers that had better skills at their craft could have done a much better job at planting the crime on their target. And what a shame a beautiful lady that from what it appears loved her children and grandchildren trusted that daughter in law enough to open the door to her and her accomplice which ended her life in such a brutal way.

When are people going to realize there is so much more to life than a pile of money.
