At approximately 1:13 p.m. on Wednesday, police responded to a call from a passerby about a possible crime inside Kissena Park in the vicinity of 164th Street between Underhill and Booth Memorial Avenues. Upon arrival, authorities discovered the remains of a badly decomposed individual within a wooded area at the location...

“It is safe to say that they were human remains,” Harrison said. “Badly decomposed; very badly decomposed. I would say probably there for months.”

The badly decomposing body parts were found in a wooded area near a bike path in Kissena Park on Wednesday afternoon...

Bones were strewn about the woods along with tattered clothing and a skull, sources said.

Christopher Sobers, 25, allegedly attacked Qing Qing Kiemde, 28, of Elmhurst, with a sharp cutting tool and disemboweled her body, prosecutors said. He also took her cellphone and removed its unique serial number.

Kiemde — whose body was found on Oct. 11 (2015) by a homeless man in a heavily wooded section of the (Kissena) park near Colden Street and Laburnum Avenue — had slash wounds to her neck, multiple puncture wounds to her chest and a massive slash to her stomach, police said.

2/15/17 - Investigators said the size of the skeleton indicates that it is likely the remains of an adult, and would not say if there were any signs of trauma that would classify the death as suspicious.
