Why was only one reported missing? And there’s not even a pic of her on her missing ”poster”. I didn’t find any articles about them being missing at all, let alone cries from the minors parents begging for her safe return. Seems odd to me

I don’t know why only the teenager was listed as missing, but the missing page suggests she was with her sister. We also don’t know who reported her missing. And Tala’s missing page indicates her race as white. I can’t figure out how that happened. Which makes me think it wasn’t a family member that completed the initial missing report. Hopefully, someone in the media will seriously research this and find out where these young women were, and why.

Have you seen this child? TALA FAREA

In my searches for something (ANYTHING!) about these two ladies I also spent some time researching the origin of their names...both first and last. I did learn that the surname and both of their first names originate on the continent of Asia, but that they could be anywhere from the Middle East through India and possibly even Thailand. Of course I can't prove anything and I'm not suggesting anything about where their family might come from, but I do think this information might be a good clue.

Where are their friends or class mates. Someone should have their social media links.

I spend so much time today looking for any mention of either Tala or Rotana on social media and can't find a peep. You're right, in past cases there are usually mentions from friends/family on social media. Nothing here! Could they have gone by different names?

Sorry to load you folks up with continuous posts. I apparently cannot think all of my thoughts at once.

I suspect that older sister was off on her own and had little contact with family. I mentioned previously I will be VERY interested to see if Rotana was indeed missing from her usual routine. It's possible she wasn't at all. And if she was, the rules for reporting missing adults is different than for minors. If there were no evidence of foul play then it might just be assumed she disappeared on her own accord.

Also, if they went to great effort to duct tape themselves on the bridge (they couldn't have done that before reaching the bridge), motorists would have noticed that behavior as they drove by.
But again, that's assuming they really did come off that bridge. For all we know, they were dumped in the area they were found. Very sad, and strange, no photos or any information about these two young women. Just a couple of drawings, even days after they were identified. No information on whether they had families, or if the younger one was living in foster care. Like they just appeared out of thin air and were found taped together.
It's odd the police are so quick to run the theory that it was a 'suicide pact' if they barely knew who these young ladies were.

I would have expected it to be news if someone saw two women jumping (taped together) into the water. At least with a local PD before finding the bodies. It seems as if they found the bodies but had no prior knowledge of them before this.

But maybe they weren't seen by a person. Maybe it was by a camera...and after they found the bodies. Perhaps they went back and reviewed footage from the bridge after the discovery.

It's also strange that the missing kids report describes the missing Tala Farea as being 'white'. Is that how they describe individuals of Arabic or South Asian background?
I suspect they were caught up in some escort service lifestyle, crossed someone, and were murdered. Their jackets were somewhat fancy, which is unusual for a teenager to afford.

How could LE possibly know it was suicide unless they were seen going in the water?

The news articles state some sort of "suicide pact." I don't know if they read that into the way the bodies were found or if there was something on their person or that could be tracked back to them that makes them think that.

I can't reconcile "no traumatic injuries" with jumping from the GWB. There would certainly be traumatic injuries from impact. I think it's more likely they went in off a pier or even just off riverside park. If their feet were taped and they were taped together, they couldn't really swim.

According to the above news article, the bodies were 'badly decomposed'. I've only seen this mentioned in the NY Post. If that is the case, they were probably in the water for over a week.
Still, you'd think the police would have released better photos of the two women by now, to jog people's memories to figure out when they were last seen. Calling it a 'suicide pact' is a bit too clean and convenient, considering that they were duct taped in a cross like configuration. You can't jump in the water that way, you'd have to be carried horizontally by two or three people, and the dropped in the water. I highly doubt this happened on George Washington bridge.
Hopefully the duct tape can yield some fingerprints or hair samples other than the sisters'.

Thanks for sharing. The badly decomposed statement is interesting because it is in direct conflict with some other articles that state it appears the bodies had not been in the water long. I'd like to know which is true because that changes the story very much.

Bodies of two Saudi sisters found bound together beside New York river

[...]

Rotana Farea had been living in New York. The young women’s mother lives in the state of Virginia. Both victims are Saudi nationals, from Jeddah.

Members of the family on Sunday denied claims that the two sisters had been missing for two months. In fact, the mother reported her younger daughter Tala as missing two months ago, but the report was withdrawn when she was found visiting her sister in New York, and the search was called off.

While Tala was visiting her elder sister, both young women lost contact with their mother about a week ago, and they were then reported missing.

The family has also rejected suggestions that the two women committed suicide, and they are awaiting the medical examiner’s findings.

The women’s father arrived in New York three days ago.

Now that report has 100% meat on the bone. Thank you very much. Thats exactly the type of article we were waiting on.

Thanks for the article above. I wonder if the missing child report from Virginia was left by accident and not updated. I still can't tell how these women were found, were their feet bound together (and to each other) or not?
