Any info on where Tina went to school? Maybe RH and her were peers in high school
Tina would have gone to Brentwood Union Free school. Heuermann was in the Massapequa School District and about 14 miles to the west and a quick straight shot down Sunrise Highway. Tina went missing after a night at Hammerheads music venue in West Islip on that very road. Hammerheads was located about halfway between Tina's home address and Heuermanns. If you aren't familiar with Sunrise Highway, it's one of the deadliest roads on Long Island. It runs all the way from Brooklyn to Montauk on the South Shore and despite the traffic lights, tends to be a favorite spot for drag racing and speeding. It is densely lined with retail, restaurants, bars, hotels, offices - all sorts of businesses. Tina planned to hitchhike her way home that night and Sunrise would have been her easiest option. If Huermann was cruising around that night in his area that would have been the road to do it. All that said, who knows.

With this info, I'd be surprised if RH did it, but not too surprised. Though RH at the minimum knowing who Tina was would be groundbreaking news.

''A night of excitement and music turned into a horrific tragedy when the lifeless remains of Tina Foglia, a 19-year-old teenager, were discovered in garbage bags along the Sagtikos Parkway on Long Island, New York. This brutal murder occurred in 1982 and has remained unsolved, leaving the victim’s family and investigators desperate for answers. With the discovery of the infamous Long Island Serial Killer and potential connections to Foglia’s case, there is renewed hope that justice may finally be served.''

''The Crime Scene and Investigation:

Tina Foglia’s tragic end occurred on February 1, 1982, after leaving a rock concert at a Long Island venue in the early morning hours. Her lifeless body was dismembered, with her arms and legs brutally separated and placed in different bags, along with her torso.''

Possible Connection to the Long Island Serial Killer

The discovery of the Long Island Serial Killer (LISK) case in 2010 raised intriguing parallels and possible connections to Tina Foglia’s unsolved murder. The LISK case involved the gruesome discovery of nine women, one man, and one child, all victims of a still unidentified serial killer.

Thanks for the cross referenced post / forum link.

By my calcs, RH would have been around 18/19 at the time of Tina's disappearance, if I've got that right? He is currently 59, so born in 1963 or 1964. It would have meant he was around the same age as Tina.

ETA: I think it's unlikely, but not impossible, that RH could be linked to this case. MOO.

Tina Foglia’s tragic end occurred on February 1, 1982, after leaving a rock concert at a Long Island venue in the early morning hours. Her lifeless body was dismembered, with her arms and legs brutally separated and placed in different bags, along with her torso.

The crime scene along the Sagtikos Parkway was a grim discovery that sent shockwaves through the community. Law enforcement officials immediately launched an intensive investigation to find the perpetrator behind this heinous act. Interviews were conducted with Foglia’s ex-boyfriend, male friends, and the band members who performed that night.

Additionally, investigators looked into her hitchhiking habits and her new relationship with a doctor, from which she had not disclosed his name. The motive behind the murder has been a subject of investigation, with authorities speculating that it might have been a sexual assault and subsequent homicide to cover up the crime.
* A doctor huh? Sound familiar?

I did not want a free account so I was unable to read the full article. Did they find out the name of the doctor that the article mentioned she had recently been dating? Of course Hackett immed pops to mind but I don’t have the slightest idea. Hopefully items were saved like the bags they found her parts in etc and maybe forensics can now help. JMO

“They cut her arms and legs off,” Gagliardi told PIX11. “Put arms in one bag, legs in another, and her torso in another.”

''The case becomes even more intriguing because of where Foglia’s remains were found.
Sagtikos Parkway runs north and south — the southern part of the roadway leads to Robert Moses Causeway, which takes drivers into Captree State Park, a gateway to Ocean Parkway — which runs through Oak and Gilgo Beaches. These two beaches are central to the current Long Island Serial Killer investigation.''

''Amy Gagliardi told PIX11 that investigators questioned male friends that Tina Foglia knew in the 1980s. But Gagliardi wonders about a mystery man that Tina mentioned in a letter, shortly before her murder.

“She said she met a doctor,” Gagliardi recalled, saying the two met at Hammerheads. “He took her out a couple of times. She said she really liked him a lot.”
Amy Gagliardi said her sister never mentioned the doctor’s name.''

I've got no doubt RH was aware of Sunrise Highway, even back in the early 80s. We know for a fact he's aware of it later because one witness claims he was at the Sayville Motor Lodge which is on Sunrise Highway. He's around the same age as this victim. Tina is petite like RH's Gilgo victims. RH's "HK" document specifically mentions Southern State Parkway and Rt 231, which is a north-south route parallel to and immediately west to Sagtikos Parkway, where Tina's remains were recovered. Plastic bags were utilized by Tina's murderer for disposal of remains, According to documents charging him, RH has used such bags and they're noted under "Supplies" in HK. Tina was dismembered with precision and RH is charged with murders where victims were dismembered, and he's also an avid hunter.

Here's an additional note on this. RH victim Sandra Costilla's remains were found a stone's throw from an abandoned fish cove compound that included a lodge, 29 cabins, and a compost heap. From what I can see online, these facilities were standing abandoned at the time or her murder, so you cannot help but wonder if RH may have used those structures in commission of his deeds. Tina is from Brentwood, and as far as I can tell using maps, she was found relatively close to Brentwood. There's also an abandoned structure in Brentwood, a known one, Pilgrim's State Psychiatric Hospital. Parts of it were briefly used to house prisoners in '82 but prisoners were not moved there until July 1982, and they occupied only three buildings (there were dozens) on an enormous campus spanning thousands of acres. I'm guessing huge portions of the campus would still have been largely uninhabited and abandoned in this timeframe, but it's guess only. The site's lauded for its architectural design, so perhaps RH was familiar with it. Sagtikos Parkway where Tina's remains were recovered runs right into Pilgrim's State. I used a map to gauge the distance in terms of where her remains were recovered, and the remains were recovered 7 minutes drive away from Pilgrim's State on the same road that runs directly into the facility.

And Tina liked concerts, and RH had already worked a summer at Jones Beach, which has a music theater that hosts concerts, although they also did a lot of musicals around this period, which tended to draw an older crowd. Still, RH was working at the beach and I would imagine his parents weren't driving him to and from work, so I'm thinking he had his own vehicle, and Tina may have been hitchhiking.

I have no idea if RH murdered Tina, but someone did. I definitely think RH could potentially have done so. The doctor aspect doesn't necessarily raise flags for me because she was a home health aide who naturally would have come into contact with many doctors. If this doctor in question never stepped forward, though, that's a concern, but I don't know if that's the case. My guess is that RH murdered many, many people in his lifetime, and this poor young girl may be among his victims.

RIP Tina.
