I am a distant relative of William Maas and was the one who had him entered into the Doe Network. There are a lot of unknown factors in the case. I have tried to get him added to NamUs and file an official missing person report, but this has proved very difficult. There is a possibility he was around after May 1941, but Ancestry.com records found by my great-uncle don't mention him after this. Since the family was originally from Germany, some changed the spelling of the surname and other variants exist, including "Maass" and "Moss." It's unknown which name he preferred.
