'THIS IS A SHAM!' Prosecutor Storms Out of Courtroom After Heated Argument with Judge
Aug 25, 2022 "This is a sham": Prosecutor Mark Sleeper walked out of the courtroom after a heated argument with Judge Wolaver over him continuing the Matheau Moore trial without prosecutor Melissa Schiffel being present.

Imagine the tantrum they are having now. OH needs to do something about these rogue prosecutors and The Innocence Project needs to set up shop there. It's so rare for people who are accused to get a top notch attorney like Menashe, so there is no telling how many innocent people are rotting in prison there.

I have never watched a trial from start to finish before - I happened upon this bc I somehow came across his police interrogation interview. From that, I was leaning towards guilt.

But IMO the state had no evidence.

His inconsistencies regarding him being awake/asleep/texting are easily explained by the Ambien (I'm surprised the defense didn't bring in an expert to attest to that, but I guess they didn't need to)

The most "damning" evidence was his use of the past term when he referred to her.

But IMO that isn't even close to enough to convict someone of murder.

So, those of you who think he did it, what makes you think that?
BBM

Not necessarily him but the Autopsy was the ''smoking gun" for me.

But beyond that the state really had nothing, surprised it even went to trial with that kind of evidence, or lack thereof.

What really surprised me was how fast the not guilty verdict came back (around 2.5 hours?)- if you look at previous cases a fast verdict a lot of the time means guilty. That tells me most if not all went into that jury deliberations leaning not guilty and there was little swaying to be done.

Wow! I’ve never seen a prosecutor or any other attorney talk to a judge like that in a court room. I bet he is in trouble! JMO

The judge showed so much poise and patience at his temper tantrum, I do hope MS and <modsnip - derogatory nicknames not allowed> have to answer for this 'sham' of a trial (to use his word), she in particular tried so hard to hobble the defense, I'm just so glad the jury saw through it and acquitted him.

Since the judge wouldn't dismiss on the Rule 29 motion, I have a good feeling the appeals court would have tossed any conviction on the grounds of zero evidence against him, but at least this way they can't come back and try to charge him again.

Bravo Ms. Menashe, job very well done!

STAGED SUICIDE MURDER TRIAL: DEFENSE ATTORNEY SPEAKS AFTER NOT GUILTY VERDICT

After a jury found her client, Matheau Moore, not guilty in the death of his wife, defense attorney Diane M. Menashe speaks to Court TV legal correspondent Matt Johnson. (8/26/22)

I definitely do not think there was enough evidence to charge him with her murder in this case, however, I do believe he had something to do with it and there simply was not the evidence to prove it. He had an excellent defense, but there were so many vague references to things that threw up red flags for me. Again, not enough to convict someone and the jury made the correct decision. JMOO

Yes, that judge really did show a lot of restraint. I was very impressed.

This is from the local news. It says they searched her home shortly after she went missing and that there were indications of foul play. That’s actually the first I have read that said that.

Westerville police announced Tuesday that dental records on a body found last week are consistent with a local woman missing since May.

I watched some of the Court TV tapes on this trial, and in my opinion, there is no way that tortured looking man was guilty. I find it hard to believe prosecutors wasted public money in trying to put an innocent man behind bars. I hope he sues them and wins a bundle.

Has there been any speculation as to the cause of the other injuries to her face?

Thank you!

“Multiple facial and neck fractures.” I assume that just disappeared when the case came to trial?

I thought you were only talking about the facial injuries they claimed she had, not the neck. The more experienced, board certified forensic anthropologist said there were no fractures of the face. She said the hyoid/thyroid could have been fractured when she hung herself, or after she died when the released her from the cord. Also, her bones were transferred all over the place and the state's expert put her bones in hydrogen peroxide which is apparently a big mistake because it can weaken them.

IMO, I think the prosecutor feared that the Court was going to grant the defense Motion 29 -- otherwise, I can see no reason for him to go off like this! What was he thinking? o_O
