It sounds like he didn't want anyone to know what he was doing or going to do. I'm curious what he told his parents about why he wasn't coming home for Thanksgiving. If it was his freshman year, I find it unusual he wasn't going home.

This article writes-

“ Jacob Bromm, 18, hasn't been in contact with family or friends since Nov. 20, when charges to his debit card halted and he stopped answering calls on his cell phone, his father, Cliff Bromm, told The Detroit News on Sunday.“

According to the article his dad states he had $2.00 in his bank account at the time he went missing.

Sounds to me like mental health concerns. I hope I’m wrong.

I worry mental health/sexual identity crisis. The age and just starting college is so tough. I just can't believe that it went 10+ days without hitting social media and the news....

I sure hope his internet and cell phone history are being looked over with a fine-toothed comb....

And his Mom's birthday was November 28th - so missing Thanksgiving and then not even calling your Mom for her special day?

FYI - it looks like he went to a Catholic High School in Troy, MI.

I actually have an 18yr old freshman in college, 2 hours away. He has my Credit Card info, ability for me to give him $ at anytime and He came home for Thanksgiving with $3 in his wallet. I was pissed to say the least. I had to have a convo about not allowing himself to get that low on cash. He did have $ on his "diamond dollars" but as for cash he had $3. he said he does laundry with it and knew he was coming home with his stuff so he wasn't worried. I think my point is these kids ( for me, boys, my daughter wouldn't be caught with less then $40. UGH) will just go. They won't tell you they're out until they are seriously OUT and it becomes the parents issue to get $ there asap. This is all IMO and my own experience. My son is SLOWLY coming along.

As for Jacob not going home. I have no idea. Maybe the parents thought things were going well and he loved it there and wanted to stay. I don't know. Usually the school sends the kids home over Thanksgiving but i'm not sure of that college. Again, I'm living with a freshman and this breaks my heart. I pray he is found safe and sound.

My son is a Junior at a college out-of-state (1500 miles away) and is WAY BETTER with money than I am. He has checking/savings and controls all of his student loan funds and has since he moved away. I'm super proud of the fact that he has managed his funds so well over the last 2.5 years. My kid has never come home for Thanksgiving - his school only closes down for Thursday-Friday and it's not worth it to fly home and fly back for just those 4 days. But ALL his friends came home for Thanksgiving (their schools close down for 2 weeks, I think) - it's kinda' a big deal for college kids, isn't it?

That said, I know he's not the norm. And I know we don't know everything about Jacob and how he was with finances. Or his relationship with his family. Or how he was doing in school.

So many questions!! And I feel so bad for his family....the not knowing....ugh!!!

According to MSM, Jacob went missing from BGSU, which is in Bowling Green, Ohio. He is from Troy, MI.

The heading for this thread needs to be fixed a bit.

BGSU and the parents of Jacob Bromm, a freshman from Troy, Michigan, are seeking information on his whereabouts. Jacob hasn’t been in contact with friends or family since Nov. 20. He had told his parents that he was not coming home for Thanksgiving. Friends say that Jacob indicated to them that he was leaving Kohl Hall to take an Uber to the airport to fly out west.

BGSU Police are investigating and have reviewed all relevant, available security footage. There is currently no evidence that his absence is not voluntary or that he is in distress. Jacob is 18 and legally an adult.

Uber should know if he indeed went to the airport, right? Is that protected information like cell records or medical? I honestly don't know. Seems like he would need to have a credit card to have an Uber account- right? (I use Lyft )

If it's true that he was going "west", I hope someone knows who Jacob might have planned to visit. Was he corresponding with someone who lived "out west"? I can't imagine an 18-year-old with limited means taking off without plans to stay with someone. I hope Jacob is safe and will contact his family promptly to let them know that he's alright.

18 year old Jacob Bromm was last seen before Thanksgiving when he supposedly got into an Uber and headed to the airport to go "west". The school finally did a social media post today and it has been picked up by all the news agencies.

Not good that the SIM card and battery were taken out of his phone. And the University police saying he’s an adult and didn’t look under distress in the video. You can’t go by just that, imo. Not when you put everything together. He is endangered, imo.

Hope this works but Google maps shows the distance between Bowling Green, Ohio and Troy, Michigan is 105 miles or a 1 hour and 44 minute trip.

Shared route
From Bowling Green State University to Teoy Michigan via I-75 N.

1 hr 44 min (105 mi)
1 hr 44 min in current traffic

If they know these details about his bank account why don't they know which flight he booked? Wouldn't he have paid for it with the debit card too?
Imo, I don't think he ever booked a flight or had any intention of doing so.
I hope he's gone off somewhere to get his head together, but I'm beginning to doubt it. I don't think anything nefarious happened to him either (by another person) but I suspect the possibility of self harm.
