The articles gave two different addresses for where she was reported missing from and where she was found so I'm confused.

The most innocuous reason I can think for her mother to need an attorney is if the pills weren't prescribed but were in Mom's possession and the daughter OD'd. MOO

My take is that she was at a home with her mom, took the drugs, headed out toward the Midland house where she was later found. IMO

"At the time of the missing person report, Theresa reported that Naomi had ingested medication not prescribed to her (Naomi) and left the home — last seen headed north on Midland Avenue."

"Detectives with the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office (FCSO) have charged Theresa Sayre with obstructing justice related to statements made during the course of the investigation into the disappearance and death of her daughter, Naomi Sayre."

I’m not even a little surprised. When she declined to answer questions for LE and got a lawyer? Yea. She was showing her hand.

Key takeaways from this article: Mom makes a habit of harboring wanted men and Naomi's body showed no outward sign of homicide in the initial evaluation at the scene. Obstruction charge stems from Mom claiming she was the one who found the body when it was actually a wanted male who she then hid in the house and who was later found and arrested. Unclear if this is the same wanted male referred to as Naomi's boyfriend in the initial story (who was arrested as part of the initial missing person investigation).

My guess is that this is a drug house owned by Mom that dealers operate out of in exchange for drugs and @ohemgee.kay925 is correct that Naomi snuck back into the house in the morning when everyone else was asleep with the intent to sleep it off while continuing to make everyone worry about her. The confusion about two different addresses might mean that one house was Naomi's and one was Mom's (with similar activity in both) but then we might wonder why the wanted guy hid on the same property when he could have gone to the other. I personally lean toward it being just one house and there was an error in the reporting at some point.

I expect the autopsy will make it considerably clearer about exactly what happened but never crystal. This'll be a cloudy one.

Wow. What a story.

My take on this is different. Just my opinion, but I think it is more likely that she overdosed, she never left the house, they did not want to call LE for whatever reason (can think of a few going by that article) and someone put her body there.

It is entirely possible that the wanted man then found her, but I don't believe 'she stormed off into the night, taking nothing'. I know it is possible but I just think it is more likely she never left the house than she left the house with nothing then got back in without being noticed and was not discovered for that length of time.

I also wonder if this could have happened before that date.

Maybe I am just too jaded.

I agree with you.
Those have been my thoughts since the beginning.. she never left the house.
It was a fabricated story to hide her OD body JMO

Just also want to add that even though I said 'more likely', we only have the word of the possible fabricators regarding the 'pill' story, so it is entirely possible that it could turn out to be unrelated. Maybe she wasn't a drug user at all. No obvious signs of foul play does not equal no foul play (especially if there are wanted men going in and out of the house amongst other things - we don't know why they are wanted, it could be non-violent or it could be violent, and 'violence', in my opinion, is not confined to things that leave obvious signs at the scene, I would consider e.g. suffocation to be violent). I would hope that the autopsy will reveal all. My viewpoint is that it is sad either way.

Further, I just wanted to say that these two things aren't exclusive. If she was using drugs on the day that she passed it does not rule out foul play either, irrespective of 'no obvious signs' observed at the scene itself. It's not an either/or and could be neither of those things or both.

RIP Naomi, I am sorry that this happened whatever the cause was.

Mom appears way more concerned with protecting one or more men with criminal history than finding her daughter or figuring out what happened to her. I don't even feel confident that Naomi took drugs OR ran away at this point. Sounds like she didn't have anyone around her looking out for HER. Weird case.

But they did call Law Enforcement

“Naomi and her boyfriend got in an argument, and she left the house and never came back,” said McNamara. “A couple of hours later, her mom just had a weird feeling, so she called the sheriff’s office. They came out and her boyfriend ended up having a warrant, so he went to jail.

Obviously I mean that potentially they did not want to call LE at the time of whatever incident.
Additionally not wanting to call LE does not = not calling LE.

The mother has already admitted that she did not tell the truth about how Naomi's body was found. She has been charged with obstructing justice.

Unfortunately, laws in the USA may lead to people being prosecuted if someone dies after taking drugs especially if those drugs are not prescribed to them, someone else has given them to them or allowed access and a number of other complicated things that are beyond the scope of what we are discussing here. That would lead to someone being fearful of calling for help for the person. This may not be the case here but it is something to consider. Again, I said 'more likely'. Nothing is absolute until the autopsy and investigation are finished.
