It’s time fellow Websleuthers
It’s time to let Mike DeWine know where we stand on Judge Deering and Rob Junk, we need to email him everyday on this case, it’s not right, Charles Reader stood up for the Rhodens and Gilley now look what their doing to him, where is the Oxygen Channel at today when crap like this is shoved Down all that is good throats! JMO

I was shocked as I listened to her in court. How often do defendants get by with insulting the county prosecutor in front of the judge?

What a joke, Betty! I agree! Will this kind of behavior continue to happen in trial? Is that why it's being allowed? IMO, it is a blatant outburst of defiance for the Court and Justice and all that we Americans stand for!

AC was fuming enough to ignite a fire in her body and soul! And IMO, the Judge might as well have spit on her!

IMO, RN will not stop talking with AW or anyone else she wants to speak to. She is proving how much she loves her mother...ha ha ha. Mommy or someone is paying lots of money to Gerlach, and to others IMO. Dangest thing I've ever seen allowed in a court of law. I can't wait to find out who the invisible man in a suit was. Lol

Nah, I'm good. You go first and let us know his response. Just curious, but what makes you think Governor Dewine could do anything about a County Judge's ruling or about a County Prosecutor's ineptness?

Who cares that she didn’t go to jail today, you guys are acting like the case was dismissed or something.

This is a very good judge and he is giving the suspects the benefit of the doubt so they can’t come back later and say something was unfair.

Whatever. IMO, he's starting very early in being a softee. Caylee even called him "waffling." Is that the same as wishy-washy?

I didn't see anything inept in what the county prosecutor did in court. He handled the cross-examination very well. He asked all the right questions to confront RN and reveal her to be making inaccurate, possibly false statements. That's why she was angry with him - he made her reveal that she was wrong about who was in the GJ room, where they were sitting, what they did. She messed up badly in court today.

After her testimony, I've really changed my opinion of RN. I used to feel somewhat sympathetic towards her, that she may have been pulled into a terrible crime she knew nothing about. That she was deceived by her daughter and her family.

No more. RN showed her true colors today. She's deceitful, rude, insulting, hostile and very dishonest. You could tell as the questioning went on that she had made up the stories about the "mysterious man in the uniform" that no one else saw. She intimated that the court reporter was doing something wrong or dishonest. The woman was just there doing her job and, thanks to RN's lies about her, compelled her to be questioned and called into court. That's a low and dirty thing to do to an innocent stranger who has done no harm.

It's easy to see where AW learned her dishonesty and cruelty towards others - she learned it from her mother. The judge should have done RN's mother a favor and put RN in jail. At least then her mother might end up in assisted living, where she could get better care from professional health care providers, not from a mean, hateful, dishonest woman.

JMO.

So if I'm going to court and everyone is watching me on video, you tube, news, articles etc....and I know my prospective Jurors are out there and can see me....well, I would want to present myself as a very likeable person.

I'm meek, I'm humble, I'm polite, I say please, thank you and excuse me. I don't lose my cool and show my temper, I'm just a doting well meaning grandmother who cares and was just trying to help my kids.

I had no idea what I did was wrong. I never would have done it if it would get anyone in trouble......When the prosecution comes down hard on me on the stand I am all apologetic and the Jury feels for me, they think Junk is picking on me. Sympathy is coming my way.

Well reality is something different. Rita, in one fell swoop, has made herself look unlikable. Simple. The Jury sees what we all see.

Very well put, Betty!!

Yes, she did. Perhaps the Prosecution was happy with this. I sure was. She showed her true colors...as did FW. All JMO

So the saying is everyone is innocent until proving guilty & Rita Newcomb was proven guilty today a man named Judge Randy Deering rubbed in our face on national tv, I am just one person but I will stand for justice, JMO

I think she believes her case will be dismissed and never go to trial. Why else would someone act like this stupid? JMO

Her case wasn't dismissed, she lost that round and got angry....

During a hearing Wednesday, Newcomb asked Deering to toss out the forgery charges. She got combative when a prosecutor asked if she had full command of her memory when she testified before a grand jury.

"Yes, if you have to be 100 percent, yes," Newcomb said. "If it makes you happy. Excuse me, I don't mean to get sassy but you're kind of irritating me. I'm sorry, judge."

I'm beginning to think these defendants are all trying to appear alot less intelligent than they really are. RN was laughable today just figuring "out loud" how to use a marker on a whiteboard. JMO

Did I say he was inept today in court? No, I don't believe I did. I don't like RN as a person, but being judgmental of her in how she might care for her elderly mother is simply put.. none of my business. I am not on this, or any thread to spread gossip or make judgements about any of them. I have seen posts about what people wear to court, and frankly if this is a concern I am on the wrong thread.

I want justice as much as anyone on here, maybe more, but I also want it to be done the right way and not how I feel it should be done. JMHO.

After hearing their defense today, it doesn't seem likely it will be dismissed. The only arguments they're putting forward are hints about chain of custody of the laptop used by the court reporter during the GJ hearing. The jurisdiction issue was overruled by the judge, who said they can try to argue it again at trial.

You could be right. I do wonder if the judge is offering her enough "rope" to hang herself and the others too!

I too, was sadly shocked today. I really thought RN was going to report to jail today. I really thought JD was not going to put up with any more nonsense. I have spent the afternoon trying to figure out what direction this whole thing is headed.

I watched the beginning of the hearing but was unable to see the whole thing. Bottom line, it appears the W4 and their accomplices might actually get away with murder because of a lax legal system in Pike County. I was stunned by RN's indigence and "sass", she has a lot on the line. I will watch the rest later tonight.

But then again, the prosecution may be giving them enough rope (and then some) to hang themselves.

I think all along the defendants had been trying to use pre-planned gestures and props to communicate. A message hidden in AW's "street clothes". That backfired because it was caught. But the prosecution also gained valuable information, whatever message was being sent in the clothing. I suspect LE might have also known what the signals meant from the conversations they were privy to in the "revenge conversations".

FW wearing the sunglasses, I don't think it was just bad fashion sense. I think it was a message of some sort. Like - things are looking sunny - all is good. She only started wearing them in court, indoors when it looked like her case was going to be dismissed....or at least, temporarily suspended.

In the phone calls between RN and AW, they talked about the case. How could anyone assume that phone calls to or from jail would not be recorded? At the same time, the state was gathering even more valuable evidence to prosecute the cases. Why would LE stop the phone calls and communication? I'm guessing that they basically have AW and RN on tape alluding/admitting to the fact she/they were guilty and their level of involvement. Specifically, the details. That tape could be pretty powerful if played during the trials.

There would be no benefit to the prosecution by sending RN to jail. I really don't think she is much of a flight risk. She allegedly has no money and I'm guessing they would confiscate her passport if the had one. The only thing that might happen if they let her remain free on bond is that LE might attain even more evidence and recordings sealing their guilt. Not circumstantial, but them admitting to the crime/s. If she is guilty, her punishment will certainly come in time.

After Dewine said "it is the most bizarre case I've ever prosecuted" and shook his head in wonder and disgust, you have to wonder just how bizarre the facts will get when the truth comes out at the trials. To add, this was the very first time I've seen AC get angry in court.

I just hope I live long enough, these trials could take years....
