A “pre-planned execution” left eight family members dead.
DeWine said he believed more than one shooter was responsible for the deaths of eight members of the Rhoden family. “It was a sophisticated operation, and those that carried it out were doing everything they could to hinder their arrest and prosecution,” DeWine said.

Authorities are always very careful in wording to not frighten the public, so in using those terms, it's worse than what they're saying. That's how I see it, this Sheriff is a no nonsense type of leader and isn't trying to scare the community, but he's being real with them. This is the second incident since Jan in two area counties, and he seems the type of Sheriff who carries the weight of the community.

This could explain why they are just now searched the wooded areas nearby; perhaps more plants. Whatever happened, this family pissed off the wrong folks. It's such a horrible shame that they put themselves in such a position. It may sound harsh and presumptuous, but given the facts we know this was not a random crime of opportunity.

I'm not a pot grower, but isn't it a bit too early in the season for there to be any actual plants growing outside? Especially in Ohio?

Victims and crime scenes:
#1. Trailer between large silver metal building and garage. Address is 4077 Union Hill. Piketon, Ohio. If you google- you'll need to use 4050 Union Hill to get location as Google maps shows it incorrect. Two males. Christopher Rhoden Sr. 40. Gary Rhoden, 38. Cousin. Original 911 call generated from this location.

#2. Trailer to the right of metal garage at same location- "walking distance". Clarence "Frankie" Rhoden, 20. Fiancee Hannah Gilley, 20. His 3 year old son from a prior relationship, unharmed. Their 6 month old son, unharmed.

#3. 4199 Union Hill Road, Piketon Ohio. Dana Rhoden, 37. Hanna Rhoden, 19. Chris Rhoden Jr. 16. 4 day old baby unharmed. Her 3 year old daughter was not there.

#4. 799 Left Fork Road Lucasville, Ohio. Kenneth Rhoden, 44. Brother to Chris Sr.

The 16 year old was NOT alone at 799 Left Fork. No one ran from any of the crime scenes. No one was out in any of the roads.

Thank you for this; I'm confused though. On Google Maps, this is what I get for 4050:

This is what I get for 4077 (is this the right property?)

Here's an article with pics, in one of them there appears to be a heavy set male wearing a green shirt in handcuffs being escorted into some sort of truck...

What do you all think? It's photo number 23/24. This same person is in the earlier slides simply talking, but that does look to me as if he's being escorted...

It looks like two men are in handcuffs to me. Do we know when these pics were taken?

I believe you have a different 4077 Union Hill Rd in Ohio. But its does appear you have uncovered some sort of grow operation

Oh heavens! Hahaha....

ETA: Perhaps I should delete it then because I don't want to end up like the hikers who stumble upon them in CA.

Yes I see him now, wearing a white ball cap. I'm not sure when they were taken...

Ive been popping in on this thread throughout the day and up until i read about the weed to me it looked like it was either a feudal killing, maybe between 2 families or it was the sort of killings you would do to hurt maybe another family member who was the cause of this trouble, you know, kill all the family members but leave that one person alive to see the carnage and live with the guilt?. Any family member still alive who has got a dodgy past?.

Could it be that the murders in the residences that were close to each other were all done at the exact same time?, it could be why no one was disturbed?, i also think that the murder done in the residence some distance away may have been done first, just thinking that i would rather murder a single person first then drive to commit multiple murders than other ay around, seems less risky?.

Does anyone know if there has been mention of weed being stolen from the properties after the murders?, id also think there would be large sums of cash too?.

I really like the Sheriff and Attorney General, I think they're handling this very well.

I like him too. They elected a good man in Pike CO!

Per Sheriff Reader during the news conference today

"In the end of this we have to provide this to the prosecutor so this person or persons can be prosecuted. We will not have a second chance. We have to do it once and we have to do it right. We have to be methodical. We have to be vigilant. We have to work around the clock and we have to get the things we need so in the end the prosecution has what they need to do their job well."

Sheriff Reader's battle cry - "WE ARE COMING FOR YOU"

He made it clear if folks had information he would protect them. He wants to put those responsible behind bars ASAP.

I think after listening to this press conference, if I had any information I would definitely rather come forward and do the right thing than risk being caught in the end on the wrong side of this.

I get the distinct impression the Sheriff doesn't fool around. You could tell he was truly angered someone(s) planned and executed a hunt to kill EIGHT people as they slept in his county.

Remember, the FBI and numerous other fed and state agencies are available to Sheriff Reader! No, I really wouldn't want to be the wrong side of this.

It's based on maturity of the plant, having a male and female plant, and the light cycle.
Outside, of course, works a lot differently than growing indoors. However, we just had spring forward and now the light cycle is a lot longer than the winter months.

I honestly don't think the grow operation is significant. Dewine and Reader were emphatic about not showing their hand. They would not have answered the question about pot if it had much to do with this case, unless they knew the cat was already out of the bag and there was no use in denying it. I'm very eager to find out what information the search warrants contain when they are released, probably tomorrow.

The big red building at Kenneth's and the big white building at Chris' could have grow lights and they'd have alot of room in there. It would also take work keeping them healthy to sell, transplanting, so more work than just feeding the animals. It's also growing time for outside since little seed pots are being transplanted to go outdoors. I'm thinking herbs and veggies, so this I imagine it would be the same thing.

Any idea when these GOOGLE maps were uploaded? Could be an image from earlier crop but in the right location? And as a second - weather in some regions this winter have been mild, warmer. Not sure about PIKE CO. But in some regions of USA early budding happened in JAN and the weeds/insects got a head start. Also I wonder if the fact they grow in the middle of a forest insulates?

I guess I was wrong.........looks like somebody was trying to send a message afterall .

I watched all 7 seasons of Weeds in a Netflix marathon... The grow operation was inside the buildings with no windows. It's a really complex operation with hydroponics, lights, temperature control and track phones. That's what I'm hoping they find in the woods. The Rhodens probably would have used them too.

Given the article I posted about the cannabis cartels in southern Waverly (just north of Piketon), I'm inclined to believe this is a cartel issue.
Particularly interesting: "There were no arrests, but officers are looking for the people who abandoned the camps."

That article was VERY INTERESTING. 2012. What officers were looking for them? And were they ever found?
