Violent sex offenders can NOT be rehabilitated. This should never have happened... never. Mandatory death sentence...

There is a law being pushed right now in Ohio. It's called "Sierah's Law" after Sierah Joughin,. It is looking to establish a violent felon registry, much like the sex offenders registry.

Personally, I think what needs to happen is sentencing laws/guidelines need to be changed. Kidnapping and raping someone should be a life sentence in my book.

This is OBSCENE that he kidnapped and raped a woman in front of her 2 year old and served only 5 years!!! Then 3 months after release, he MURDERS.

CHANGE SENTENCING GUIDELINES!!

Jashrema, this would be a great asset, but it needs to cover all states. Is there anything we can do to speed thusis up?

We have quietly followed Regan here, and are devastated yet another beautiful young girl was taken away by an unscrupulous individual who did not deserve to be out. Each case just cuts deeper into my soul... :tears:

I couldn't have said it better! Deviants like this should not be allowed to ever see daylight again! Thank the Lord I'm a not judge or DA/ADA in Ohio because I would have pushed for highest punishment possible in his previous crime! Complete filth...he should be castrated(sorry) urg this makes me so mad! And to imagine what she must've felt!? The emotional trauma leading up to the murder and rape must have been pure anguish. :( she deserved better

Until Politicians, Law makers, Law Enforcers including Prosecuting Attorneys, Judges, and the CITIZENS OF THE US, Stand Up, get that morals straights, put laws in place that place a certain amount of fear in perks that even think about doing this to begin with, but place judgement and full sentencing(and stick to the sentence), straighten out the prisons where they have no rights, we will continue to live in a world of looking over our shoulder and being vigilant every second, while still continuing to see our families and other families go through these horrific ordeals. And don't forget there are parents and/or guardians of these perks that also deserve part of the blame. What has happened to what should be taught in the home from birth? Sorry just a rant and JMO.

[h=1]Vigil honors Reagan Tokes; suspect could face death penalty[/h]

Franklin County Prosecutor Ron O'Brien is considering the death penalty for Golsby and will ask a Franklin County Municipal Court judge Monday to keep him in jail without bond, according to a court filing.

Grove City police late Saturday night filed a rape charge against Golsby, 29. He is also charged with aggravated murder, aggravated robbery and kidnapping.

"The defendant has a lengthy juvenile record and an adult record that has resulted in two prison commitments that establishes he is a danger to the community and should be held without bond," O'Brien's motion states. O'Brien mentioned that Golsby could face "potential capital charges." The prosecutor's office will later present the case to the Franklin County grand jury for felony charges.

3 points here. First and foremost, Im sickened by this. Second, my husband is considered a violent offender in nj for robbing a store at knife point. He got 7 years with an 85% mandatory minimum term. He did a bad thing but he did not hurt anyone. He paid for his crime by losing out on 6 years of his beautiful kids' lives. No excuses but he had a really bad pain pill addiction and was not himself. I guess different circumstance. Time away rehabilitated him. Prison itself is a joke! That is for another day. My anger comes twofold. This poor girl and her family ruined over this and how does my husband get 7 years for his crime and this only gets 6? or does 6? whichever way it went??

Records: Reagan Tokes suspect previously convicted of robbery, attempted rape

http://thelantern.com/2017/02/recor...eviously-convicted-of-robbery-attempted-rape/

Brian Lee Golsby — who was charged with aggravated murder, aggravated kidnapping and aggravated robbery by the Grove City Division of Police early Saturday morning for his alleged involvement in Tokes’ death — finished his previous sentence on Nov. 13.

In its original statement, the Grove City Division of Police said Golsby had been convicted of kidnapping and rape. According to court records, Golsby was accused of kidnapping and attempted rape (though not rape), but the kidnapping charge was not pursued by prosecutors, and he pleaded guilty of robbery and attempted rape, according to court records.

Golsby also pleaded guilty on May 26, 2011, to attempted theft, a first-degree misdemeanor.

The attempted theft occurred on July 31, 2010, while the robbery charge and attempted rape occurred on Nov. 3, 2010, and Nov. 17, 2010, respectively. A warrant for Golsby’s arrest was issued on Nov. 24, 2010, and it was served two days later.

William Davies, the assistant prosecuting attorney, and Williams jointly recommended a six-year sentence for the robbery charge and a mandatory six-year sentence for the charge of attempted rape to run concurrently, meaning Golsby would serve them at the same time. However, Golsby had accrued 192 days of jail credit time, which refers to the days a defendant spends in jail prior to their conviction. Jail credit time is deducted from the defendant’s sentence.

Well, it sure looks like he got a sweat plea deal on the previous case. And the young lady paid the price. This girl was picking out her diploma frames, and now she is dead.

BBM I know you added 'that is for another day" but I second this! My sister can't seem to stay away from her lowlife bad decision making husband who has been arrested 4 (!) times since July 2016 and is currently in jail for wrecking his semi truck b/c he fell asleep coming off of a meth binge, the cops also found 2 bags of drugs in his truck and he was granted bond to get out AGAIN. I don't understand "The System" and how people who are clearly dangerous to others keep getting out. (JMO)

RIP Reagan, this is truly a senseless tragedy. :(

From your link:

Brian L. Golsby, 29, faces charges of aggravated murder, aggravated robbery, rape and kidnapping.

Police arrested Golsby early Saturday, after authorities said they found DNA on a cigarette butt left in Tokes' car that matched Golsby.
