There is a law being pushed right now in Ohio. It's called "Sierah's Law" after Sierah Joughin,. It is looking to establish a violent felon registry, much like the sex offenders registry.
Personally, I think what needs to happen is sentencing laws/guidelines need to be changed. Kidnapping and raping someone should be a life sentence in my book.
This is OBSCENE that he kidnapped and raped a woman in front of her 2 year old and served only 5 years!!! Then 3 months after release, he MURDERS.
CHANGE SENTENCING GUIDELINES!!
Violent sex offenders can NOT be rehabilitated. This should never have happened... never. Mandatory death sentence...
Jashrema, this would be a great asset, but it needs to cover all states. Is there anything we can do to speed thusis up?
We have quietly followed Regan here, and are devastated yet another beautiful young girl was taken away by an unscrupulous individual who did not deserve to be out. Each case just cuts deeper into my soul... :tears:
Franklin County Prosecutor Ron O'Brien is considering the death penalty for Golsby and will ask a Franklin County Municipal Court judge Monday to keep him in jail without bond, according to a court filing.
Grove City police late Saturday night filed a rape charge against Golsby, 29. He is also charged with aggravated murder, aggravated robbery and kidnapping.
"The defendant has a lengthy juvenile record and an adult record that has resulted in two prison commitments that establishes he is a danger to the community and should be held without bond," O'Brien's motion states. O'Brien mentioned that Golsby could face "potential capital charges." The prosecutor's office will later present the case to the Franklin County grand jury for felony charges.
O/T but this guy from OSU is missing, too. Not sure how to start a thread for him.

3 points here. First and foremost, Im sickened by this. Second, my husband is considered a violent offender in nj for robbing a store at knife point. He got 7 years with an 85% mandatory minimum term. He did a bad thing but he did not hurt anyone. He paid for his crime by losing out on 6 years of his beautiful kids' lives. No excuses but he had a really bad pain pill addiction and was not himself. I guess different circumstance. Time away rehabilitated him. Prison itself is a joke! That is for another day. My anger comes twofold. This poor girl and her family ruined over this and how does my husband get 7 years for his crime and this only gets 6? or does 6? whichever way it went??

Brian L. Golsby, 29, faces charges of aggravated murder, aggravated robbery, rape and kidnapping.
Police arrested Golsby early Saturday, after authorities said they found DNA on a cigarette butt left in Tokes' car that matched Golsby.
